And that’s two out of two for the Hugi Anhultzs! A 3rd place is hardly anything to scoff at, especially when you’re only three points away from the dirt-conquering Eagles… It’s a shame to see Bogliq missing out on a 4 out of 4, though. But it seems categories get more competitive the more powerful they are…
Well, the Rioter is where the quality of my entries end. The Owlette doesn’t have AMP support, or common sense. At the very least may its failure be a glorious one!
Entering the big boys categories with C4, although one team missed the memo with a 65 horsepower engine, all the way up to - an what turned out to be uncontrollable - 200 horsepower.
Now, to the official results! And the organisation has announced that next to the 8 qualified cars, 3 cars have been given a wildcard to compete in the main event:
If those tagged (congrats) would be so kind as to provide me - or reconfirm - the names and nationality of driver and co-driver. You can do so in this thread in a post below, or via PM to me.
I don’t want to give too much away in terms of performance, so I will keep a detailed breakdown for at the very end. However, I can say a few words on those not qualifying.

Bogliq missing out again just on points, but in terms of time, there is quite a difference with the top cars. The Teuvo was closest, but suffered a few penalties due to number and weight violations (the latter which was corrected).
The Albatross and Ananda were likewise fast, but the first one understeered too much and the second’s gear ratios killed it.
Amazing result in hind sight for the Deer and Hunt, considering the power to weight ratio of that thing. I know they make excellent trucks, but that doesn’t mean everything needs to drive like a truck. The Ardent, great car for cruising as it may be, is unsuited for rally, and the JHW was as undrivable as the CMW, only the CMW has 60 horses more.
It cost it a few points, but still got some on technical consistency for the rest. There was 1 point deducted for a seating violation (you had benches, rather than proper sears IIRC). And mostly just a fraction too slow to get points there.
Well, even though my Mockingjay didn’t take a podium in qualifying, I’m glad that it actually qualified (and it got 6th, at that). I was worried that after the huge drop that the Aviators took in points (especially the Primavera) that I wouldn’t have any more cars in the running, but it seems that that might not be the case.
That being said, I’m not so sure that my Gatz will be able to move on. It’s got a lot of power (and a big, heavy, expensive V12 right over the front wheels), and that doesn’t make for a controllable vehicle. Still, the Comrade could do pretty well in terms of points, as it’s only got half the power (and half the engine) of the Verno.
I’m now certain that my C5 and C6 entrants will be going home empty handed as well, oh well
Nice work @DriftinCovet1987 on getting another car into the final race, just don’t forget to share some of that limelight with us little guys, OK?
Also, congrats to @NormanVauxhall for having every one of the cars he’s entered so far achieve qualifying success! Hopefully there’s enough room in your trophy cabinet for more silverware!!!
Sitting in the #321 RAI Lyrebird, Sam Wanneltz looked at Yadouin Maheddin. “Do you think we’ll make it?”
“We’ll definitely finish the course, qualifying is another matter entirely.”
They rolled the car to the starting line and waited for the signal. Yadouin brought the engine to 4000rpm and dropped the clutch. A squeal from the tyres and they were away.
After the run, they checked their logged time, and were not surprised to see the little “X” after their car name.
Yadouin turned to Sam. “But what is ‘W’?”
"‘Wildcard’. It’s for cars that had an attribute that appealed to the officials, or something like that. "
“So, that means we qualified?”
“Let me see! Oh, we did! Ma’s going to be impressed.”
C5 has quite a difference in approach, though is clearly the home of the six cylinder engine. Power ranges from 90 to 305 horsepower.
Now, to the official results! And the organisation has announced that next to the 8 qualified cars, 3 cars have been given a wildcard to compete in the main event. The wild cards here might be a bit more controversial, since in earlier classes the best losers were chosen. The most important trait though was highest scoring best drivability cars (I am not going to torture myself needlessly). This is the first class where they don’t really line up.

The Inline Designs car was fast, that much is clear, but the drive train choice does not make much sense, and hurts the steering, making it one of the least enjoyable cars to drive around, and misses out on a wildcard that way.
On the topic of driving well, shout out to the JHW, Sakura and Lagau, who drove extremely well, but are lacking in speed (relatively speaking).
The Inline Designs drivetrain choice makes perfect sense, considering that the entire Adenine lineup was built on the same transverse FWD platform at the time, suitability be damned
But I’m glad to see my hypothesis confirmed - FWD has the potential to be technically superior, but loses out on fun factor
That’s 80% true. The main advantage of FWD is that you can slam the accelerator on straight bumpy roads and corner exits, and not worry about spinning into a tree.
But if you think that FWDs are not as fun… you should see my Eagle 707. It’s an MF.
