1973 Rally di Fruinia [FINISHED]

Welp, that’s where the “not having a wheel for testing” problem comes in . Everything was ok on my (retarded) setup.

But it could have been worse - some folks here don’t even have BeamNG and they still manage to do alright.

well, that was it for Meijer then, a solid 0/6

There’s no way automation allows for mid engine fwd…

Im assuming it’s technically “awd” but you’re sending all power to the front

Sooo I knew the C5 build was screwed when I drove it. Far too much power. However I personally thought the C3 was a ton of fun to drive and felt well balanced. C4 was decent as well.

The C4 was the better of the two, but even so both cars were far inferior in terms of handling, stability, actual speed and cornering compared to the majority of the competition…

Dang…first time not qualifying and it’s my KZNG that’s out…that doesn’t bode well for the Gatz. Then again, KZNG isn’t really a “racing” brand, so to speak, so it’s not like I was expecting them to pass through.

Then again, Eagle, G&W, and Ardent are also out of C5, so there’s that.

Well, we can basically divide those 7 categories into 3 groups:
C0, C1 - no weight requirement, small engines, small cars, overall a pretty easy group, I think. Especially if you want to make an RR car.
C2, C3, C4 - normal cars, probably the most competitive and balanced group.
C5, C6 - almost no limits here, so these two classes are probably the most tricky to get right. That’s why we’re seeing different results than in previous classes.

And also, an Eagle with an engine bigger than 2.0-2.2L is like a FWD BMW.
So I’m not really expecting E-802 to do much better than E-303, but we shall see.

One of those was expected. Have you ever seen a G&W try to be a car?

Welp, I’m regretting the fact that I only sent 1 car in the C5 class. Seems like the C5 class is pretty competitive and I just seem to lack the speed.

Yup, that was my last chance… My C6 entry was for lore purposes, and was built for a different competition. No way its getting in.

All hope lies with the Keystone team…

, reads thread,, sees my car result, :hushed::open_mouth::exploding_head::crazy_face::smile::laughing::rofl::triumph:

One of my muscle cars made it! :exploding_head:

I sweated bullets trying to tame the wheelspin without success. In desperation I begged for help from the Discord chatroom, Challenge-Discussion, and someone (who’s name I cannot recall, sorry) gave me really good advice on how to gear the car to minimise slippage. Thanks friend, you saved my C5 entrant from having to go home early!

Let me guess…it has so-called “character”, as in it drives just fine…for about 100 feet out of the factory. Then it breaks spectacularly because it’s British. (/s)

Speaking of “character”…yeah, I don’t think my Gatz is going to qualify. 400 horsepower in a “tiny” 2.8-meter-wheelbase RWD muscle car is not fun to drive. At all. All it does is wheelspin…and crash…and then wheelspin some more…and crash again. At least, when I try to drive it. The only way it could qualify is if everything else crashes spectacularly.

Ellen Beaufort was sitting on the bonnet of the #286 Seax, half a bottle of a Merlot in hand…
“Antoine, mon ami! We did well, no?”
“No. Not as fast as we needed to be, but we do get to race. There’s a thing in the rules, so we got in. Where did you get that from?”
“L’homme over there. He sell it to me.”
Anthony Burns looked at the merchant, then back at the French driver. “Too bad I don’t like red. Got anything else?”
“But, of course.” She whistled, and a boy came running from the tent with a large mug in his hand, which he gave to Anthony. In his best English (with a heavy fruinian accent) “It’s hard to make a good martini around here, Sir.”
Thus began the 1973 rally campaign of Ellen Beaufort Racing.

Motherfuck. Missed out on C5 Qually by 1 point.

The driver of the number 386 G&W Seax, Diego Sanchez, was born in Italy in 1948 to Spanish immigrant parents… people moved TO Italy after WW2? Whatever. He turns 25 today, and considers qualifying to be enough of a present. For those who No hablan español (including me), his nickname, “Sucio”, apparently means dirty. His navigator, American rancher Ben Baker, derives a great deal of amusement from Diego not understanding what he’s being called.

Phew! My sole entry qualified as a wildcard, if only just. But its story is just beginning… After all, its crew now have to face the rigors of the rally proper.

Wow. All the Znopresks are in and also the client KressMotorsport!

I’ll send the names soon.

Well, I’m good with cheap cars, not with cheap racing cars.

Qualification C6

The place for the big rumbling V8 and the occasional screeching V12, C6 is the heaviest class. On paper the most powerful and fastest, but also the most unsuited for rally. This was all about finding the right balance. Power ranges from 214 to 487 horsepower.

Now, to the official results! And the organisation has announced that next to the 8 qualified cars, 2 cars have been given a wildcard to compete in the main event.

If those tagged (congrats) would be so kind as to provide me - or reconfirm - the names and nationality of driver and co-driver. You can do so in this thread in a post below, or via PM to me.

I don’t want to give too much away in terms of performance, so I will keep a detailed breakdown for at the very end. However, I can say a few words on those not qualifying.

Comments:

Those two last times were disqualified anyway, considering their gearbox violation. A lot of difference on the rest. Some cars were fast but borderline uncontrollable. Others, such as the Ardent and Rockway were too lumberingly big, despite driving extremely well.

wait:
wasn’t the rule that it just had to have “at least three forward gears”?

The rule has always been:
