Hey lookie what they’re keeping in the workshop of the newly founded FAAL Motorsports Sélestat.

A Mk2 Mesaia 164S, running in C3 class for the 1973 Rallye Di Fruinia.

this is a 1972 model year, since the 164S was discontinued afterwards (press F). Work has been done to the engine and suspension, the interior has been stripped down to the bare minimum and it’s basically as good as a Mk2 can be.
Now to see if it’s enough :thinking:

This is the 1973 Retro Age Motors Sidewinder 440 Rally (#122), entering as Class: C6
There are actually several of these type cars roaming North America. Some like this example are based on the 1973 Sidewinder GS 440. Others are based on the Sidewinder GS and still more are based on the Sidewinder 440 R …confused yet?

So was the factory. When production started in October of 1972, a miscommunication between corporate and the factory resulted in 600 cars being produced using the 440 R engine instead of the 440 3C Dragon. The 440 R was only to be used in government and law enforcement vehicles. When the error was detected a re-call was issued but only 6 cars were returned. Those cars had their engine swiped out for the correct engine at Retro Age Motors expense. Word on the street traveled like wild fire through North America and the remaining 594 cars never answered the re-call notice. The reason was simple. The 440 R is a powerhouse compared to the Dragon. The Dragon has a pretty name but the inside joke in Retro Age Motors was something like …he worked slower then a Dragon 440 climbing a speed bump!

In real life of the early to mid seventies, those hoods were looong! My favorite hoods (bonnets) from those days belong to (in no particular order), Thunderbird, Continental Mark IV, Eldorado, Tornado, Camaro, Trans Am and Belvedere …seems I am missing a few.

Due to the complexities of Fruinian-Chinese translation, there was a mix up back at RAI head office. Confusion about the limits of C1 and C2, or something. So, what ended up happening was 2 cars were prepared, the #321 from earlier, and this, #4. #4 has a very similar engine, but with a slightly shorter stroke, giving it an 1149cc capacity. A different intake arrangement, and the bit I couldn’t figure out, a higher compression, means this has more power than the car in C2… but not by much.

1973 Corso de Fruinia, Bogliq Terra Rally Team!

Most of the Bogliq subsidiaries chose to showcase new models and advance the image of Bogliq as the reliable choice in the 1973 Corso de Fruinia. Since there were delegations from around the world present, the team was named after the planet, rather than just one dominant region.

Seven cars were fielded in total and each car was race prepared and tuned by Leeroy Custom Solutions to ensure each car were homologation compliant as well as having a shot at outright victory. Also, since Bogliq were fielding seven cars, it was estimated that Bogliq would place well in the constructors championships, even if it was through sheer force in numbers!

Finally I have ready my first 4 cars for the rally, now I present them:

C1 : F.E.A.B 141 1140cc Rallye Team Ali-Taglia n°5

F.E.A.B 141 represents a popular common car presented in 1973 shortly before the start of the Rally. With the only available engine of displacement of 1140cc four cylinders in line, two valves, it is presented in 2 different configurations, C (comfort), E (economy), with small variations also in the engine technical settings.
The version presented is Rally configuration, and in addition to having a new exhaust system, the engine has been upgraded directly from the parent company under the guidance of Team Ali-Size, owner of the car at the Rally. Ali ', owner of the Team is a Persian man who made his fortune with a company of pre-cooked pizzas.

C3 F.E.A.B 181 1600cc Rallye Team F.E.A.B. n ° 6


Model 181 Represents the sports coupe of the House. On the market there are 2 versions, 1600 in model S (sport) and C, the model 2000 only in S versions, is the maximum expression of 181.The particularity of this car is in use for the first time of glass fiber by of the manufacturer on standard models. The engine is always a four-cylinder in-line, with 4 valves per cylinder, developed here by the official team.

In 1973 L Arpos decided to market a medium-powered sports car to compete with the high contentendi in that category. Thus the Corvina was developed, using the base of the Agata chassis, which came out on the market in 1965. The car present at the Rally is still a laboratory car, although it has all the technical characteristics present in the production car. The only exception and source of Test still regards the engine present on this car. The house is in fact evaluating whether to mount a 2500 displacement or 3000cc present on this version in a superquadro version, ie with bore and similar stroke in size. 3000 v6 60 ° 4 valves per cylinder is the corvina heart.

The Star and Stripes Team is an American racing team that likes to participate in rallies with cars made in the USA. For this competition it is presented with a Kopo Dakota LSA modified by the same Team under construction and with work on the engine. The Dakota (available freedownload tread KOPO) is a good basic car and the technicians have worked on the engine to give it mainly more engine revs for more sprint use, as well as a 5-speed gearbox.
