2018 New York International Auto Show (NYIAS)

ES: Evgenis Sport - 2018 Evgenis Valkyrie ES

Hot and bothered? At last we reveal the sportier division of our company that will be adding a number of faster, performance focused version of our vehicles, first with the brand new Evgenis Valkyrie ES, a hot hatch to send others into oblivion!

The Evgenis Valkyrie ES is equipped with a powerful, 2.0-litre turbocharged engine, revving all the way to 8500 rpm, with 325 bhp, mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox and rear-biased AWD system, to give the car some incredible straight line performance, topping out at an electronically limited 260 kph (161.6 mph) and reaching 100 kph (62.1 mph) in 5 seconds flat with launch control.

Driving dynamics are exceptional, with the Evgenis Sport team working very hard on maximising the potential grip, fine-tuning the suspension and far, far more to make the most engaging car yet, performing at levels that most won’t believe is even possible for a hot hatchback. An electronic, limited slip differential is equipped on the car as standard, just adding even more capability to the car. To make it clear just how fast this car is, the Evgenis Valkyrie ES managed a lap of the Top Gear Test Track, one of the multiple tracks where the testing was conducted, in an impressive 1:23, faster than any other hatchback around this circuit by over 2 seconds.

On top of all the performance changes to the car, the design has been altered drastically to improve cooling and aerodynamics in favour of the larger engine and greater performance demands, but also to offer a far sportier and engaging stance. These new aerodynamic changes certainly aren’t far show, generating substantial downforce in order to truly push the car into the tarmac, but with it also being active aero it can adjust to suit the needs within in instant, with a computer calculating the position of lips and wings several hundred times a second.

The interior has also seen a revamp, with the entire interior getting an overhaul with far sportier and lightweight materials such as alcantara and carbon fibre inlays, as well as black headlining and a number of other sportier features and ES emblems dotted around the cabin to also remind you that you are in something truly special.

Further information to be revealed closer to the release date of the car. For now, some more images:

Available in all markets in Q4 2018, full date reveal later in the year.

EU pricing starting from €49,995

There is no need for announcement.
There was just a small note in the car show program.
As planned, a man and a woman, perfectly dressed, move toward the black blanket and remove it.

(Yep, transverse 8 liter V12).

-P-M-I- introduces the concept Puma, a light and fun sports car that aims to make you smile; that features a simple and accessible design.

The standard version is powered by a newly developed 1.5 liter turbocharged inline-4 engine developing 150hp and 216 Nm. The partial aluminium and light steel alloy monocoque and ensure nippy performance combined with low fuel consumption both while cruising as well as at speed.

And at speed you might very well, as the weekend fun track car segment will certainly find a new competitor in the Puma. As a light sports car for weekend drives it will be equally suited!

The standard version will feature special compound long-life sports tires; a high-speed clutch sequential 6-speed gearbox, sports Wecaro bucket seats, alloy wheels, high quality sat nav and audio surround system, and active suspension with 3 modes. An optional track day package (obligatory warning that this also includes stripped out safety features) or cruising package (which comfort seats and updated infotainment) shall also be available.

Also planned, a special retro package version of the Puma, with more aggressive looks and a special, one-off 2.0 liter inline-3 racing-inspired engine, naturally aspirated and producing 180 HP. This edition will only be availble in top trim and after pre-order. Express your interest now at the -P-M-I- stand to be given priority option to pre-order when the final model is revealed.

Nathan García takes a look at NYIAS!

Hey there! You might know me if you read Devil’s Rods at any point since it started. Thing is, I’ve been sent by the fellas at the Motornation HQ to take a look at what the manufacturers have been showing prior to the show; the Press Days start tomorrow and I’ve been invited as well, but I’ll have to work with what I know for now. Before meeting a certain Brit tomorrow, here’s what I think have been the highlights of the show so far!

  • Shromet and the Appalachian. If it has the offroad worthiness its looks indicate, it should be a strong contender in the good crossover market (not counting crap on stilts). About the teaser, however…I must say I’ve been a bit offended considering my maternal grandmother comes from Mexico, but still, looks like a promising package.

  • TSR Fallwing LSport V12. While the car looks a bit outdated, the twin turbo V12 under its bonnet sounds like it’s going to have some juice with 665hp. They didn’t tell us the price but eh, if the price is right, this could be a car to keep in mind.

  • Nohda presented the Shourai, a little car with huge engines; offering a 2.5L V6 with snails and a 4.7L V8, it has meat and good one at it. At a pricetag of $35000 it is a car I personally would consider prioritary when looking for a sports car.

  • GBSC presented the MV350. I don’t like the looks, I love the internals; these guys went in for the kill with a 680hp V10 in qualifying spec (Presumably?). I’ll just say MMMMMmaybe.

  • Hah, I guessed it, Baltazar! I knew it was Stardust! Looks like they joined the sedan market with their Stardust. It looks quite good, if a bit too sober for me but by no means bad. Looks like it’ll have some meat with an option to make it AWD if you order one of the 2 liter engines. Will have to take a further look at it when they release the rest of the details.

  • Audentia Regulus. The looks were a great attempt but they just need to make their headlights and tailights more modern, they feels quite outdated, ruining an otherwise good styling job. With a 4.6L V8 with 478hp it has meat for sure, with great fuel economy as well! The package it includes makes it sound like a good deal as well; I’ll keep an eye on these fellas.

  • Znopresk Zanzibar! Looks like we have a big boy SUV here, in contrast with the crossovers we’ve been getting. Looks like they’ll be offering a good array of choices when ordering the car: drivetrain, engine, interior color…it’s unusual that they decided to mount the engine transversely, but hey, irrelevant to me to be completely honest. Looks like a damn fine package and one I’ll keep my eye on.

  • Kasai lost their minds making a transverse V12 hot hatch. This is like throwing a hatchback and a supercar in a blender and drinking the outcome; and the idea, I’ll say, sounds good to me. AWD is a selling point to me as well. Meat is what this car doesn’t lack, but sadly the V12 edition will be limited.

  • Evgenis brought us the Valkyrie. A premium hot hatch from $25000? Sign me the [censored] up. The looks are simple but functional and elegant, and they promise a broad range of options to customize our car, from paint to the rims and even the roof. The range of engines will include petrol, gas, diesel and hybrid with some meat to them and great fuel economy, and they’ll, more importantly, offer a six speed manual, and even some autonomous gadgets. I might consider this for a serious daily driver whenever I have to settle down.

  • The Leviathan Maladus GTR. It looks like a sportier version of a car straight out of a spionage movie, and I think it works. But best of all, 830hp and almost 10000rpm. This guys are crazy. And I love it. AWD, active suspension, and best of all, the 830hp car gets 20MPG. That’s nuts. At only $110000 roughly, I’d consider this if you’re in the hunt for a hypercar.

  • KHT Augusta Vision GT. While I feel it’s a tad overstyled, it looks futuristic and it is futuristic in the inside as well: a 2.2L I4 turbo with 315hp, 3.3 seconds (from 0 to 62 I assume?) and a fast lap time around the Nordschleife of 7:35 minutes. Good, good…

  • AL Autos, this is going to be a sincere message; I feel you guys need to settle down with a lineup instead of constantly releasing new cars. You will not be able to develop a brand image at this rate and I, personally, don’t think that’s good.

  • If I thought the guys at Znopresk and Kasai were crazy for mounting I6s and V12s transversely…the fellas at Iuriaro mounted an 8 liter V12 transversely, the madmen. Holy shit. Looks like this one will be a luxury edition of the Zanzibar, and I’m really digging the futuristic looks.

  • PMI introduced the Puma concept. It doesn’t look too bad, if a bit too simplistic for my taste, and the rear needs some improvement to look more modern. However, seems like this is a promising sports concept with a small, turbocharged engine that prioritizes lightness. If the price is right, this might be a good platform to modify on too…only time will tell.

We’re not done, fellas! I’ll be back tomorrow with more stuff. Will see you all then, and see what the show has yet to show us!

Thanks! Yeah, time is needed. I need to learn to deal with the available fixtures to create modern looking cars. And I do want to keep this one simple and fresh. We’ll see how PMI evolves in the future.

Thanks for the advice

I’ve been attempting to do so as I’ve also realized this as well. AL Autos will be establishing a lineup of cars instead of releasing new models every auto show.

2019 Enactor Estate Roamer (Series 4)

Overview

The Estate Roamer has been an icon among the luxury SUVs for two decades and to reaffirm its position on the top of the tree, Enactor is proud to present the Series 4 Estate Roamer. Building upon the foundations of the previous models, the Estate Roamer seeks to deliver the ultimate in luxury and off-road capability, with no compromises.

Styling

The clean and elegant design has been a long standing Estate Roamer tradition, with smooth lines, which still are imposing and distinctive enough to separate it from lesser models.
For the 2019 model, full LED headlights and tail lights are standard on all models, for a distinctive visual and lighting signature.

Engineering

Building upon the solid basis of the previous models and with access to the vast R&D resources of the parent companies, the Estate Roamer has cutting edge technology designed to augment safety, driver comfort and ease to drive.

All the latest safety technology is available on the model, with Enactor’s AutoCruise allowing the car to follow the cars in front, steer within the lane and come to a complete stop, without any input from the driver, provided they keep the eyes on the road and the hands on the wheel. This means the Estate Roamer is capable of level 2 autonomous driving, perfect to take the strain away from long motorway journeys.

Meanwhile, all the off-road tech hasn’t been forgotten, with the car featuring self-levelling air suspension, with adaptive dampers and off-road biased reactive roll bars, which detect long vertical movement and need for wheel articulation and soften up accordingly, without compromising off-road capability or on-road driving behaviour.

In order to improve fuel economy and improve drivability, the car’s body is fully made of aluminium, meanwhile the steel monocoque has been worked upon, to improve structural rigidity and reduce weight.

Powertrain

The Series 4 Estate Roamer is available from launch with 2 engines in 3 states of tune. Erin’s 3.5 Twin-Turbo V6, in 300 hp guise, provides the entry-level of the range. Meanwhile, Bonham’s 3.0 Turbocharged Straight Six is presented in 2 states of tune, 380 and 500 hp.

All engines are mated exclusively to an 8 speed automatic gearbox with power being delivered to all four wheels. Power is split 50/50 as standard, but if the computer detects slip, power can be sent 100% to either axle and up to 75% to an individual wheel.

Interior

In keeping with the Estate Roamer tradition for luxury, this latest car offers a wide variety of luxury items. All 5 individual seats are covered in fine nappa leather, with 12-way electric adjustments for the front seat passengers and 4-way individual adjustments for each of the three seats in the rear. The car is equipped with two 13" displays, one to control the infotainment, the other showcasing the fully digital dials. Meanwhile, rear seat passengers also get individual touchscreens, which can use the in-car internet hotspot to access websites like Youtube and Netflix on the go.

The sound system uses a 19-speaker, 1550W Harman-Kardon surround sound system, engineered exclusively for use in the Estate Roamer, with active noise cancellation.

Enactor’s Adventure Key is also present. It consists of a waterproof wristband, that can be used to lock and unlock the car, while leaving the standard key safe and dry inside the car. Perfect for any outdoor excursion where taking a delicate and cumbersome key might prove risky.

Detailed stats and pricing coming on the Enactor thread very soon.

Pre-orders are available, with first deliveries in late summer, with production starting at the Enactor plant in Curdworth in May.

Zenshi in the 2018 New York International Auto Show - Day 1

For the first press day in New York, Zenshi showcased two performance beasts, one of which wasn’t to be expected from a company like them.

On the stage; Zenshi made use of the screen to display moving pictures to show two halves; first being a video of an empty Route 66 in the sunset, and to follow the theme of what they have been doing in Japan recently, which is to play songs previously used in their car advertisements back in the day; played a sample of Toshiki Kadomatsu’s 52nd Street.

And as the animation went, the light focused on a performance… Pickup.

2019 Zenshi TDF Furue ZMD Track

From there was ZMD’s track-tuned TDF Furue. This generation marks the first time the “TDF” name is used in the American market.

This particular TDF Furue sat considerably low for a pickup truck, and holding them up are 20-inch RAYS wheels on Yokohama ADVAN tires. Fat ZMD quad-tip exhausts adorn the colour-coded rear bumper in a way to show that it means business.

Overall, the pickup received a rather aggressive styling treatment, and if that doesn’t scream performance, perhaps the overall stats will. Under the hood lays a Twin-Turbocharged 5.6L V8 known as the SY56-GDA2T, which was used in the well-known high performance version of the GT, the GTZ 5.6R. Coming standard with a 6-Speed Manual, pumping out 600 HP only to the rear wheels, and weighing below 2,000 kg, the Furue ZMD Track makes for one hell of a street performance truck.

The spotlight dims on the Furue, and focuses on a rather low-looking silhouette.

On the right side of the screen, played a black-and-white video of the roads of Suzuka Circuit, initially playing no music, just the sounds of a roaring V8 engine. Eventually, the music comes to, and playing is another song from Kadomatsu, Rush Hour.

The V8 sounds get louder until it all stops for a brief second, displaying a familiar logo:

after that, the light fully focuses on the silhouette and the veil drops.

2019 Zenshi GTZ 500R

In a recognizable yellow colour, there laid the new GTZ. ZMD decided to not put in extreme styling towards the front, giving a bit of a more, premium, side to the car, all the while aiding it’s aerodynamics.

Darkened lights help give off a very menacing feel to the car, an aesthetic the GTZ lives by. Overall, the next-generation GTZ has seen a slew of improvements, both inside and out.

Mentioned already was the bodywork of the GTZ. Everything, from the bumps to the vents to the diffuser, aid in cornering performance and general efficiency. With the aid of it’s dogleg 7-Speed Manual, the roaring beast presents considerably impressive gas mileage figures for a car like this; 28 MPG Highway is one thing to take note of.

Dynamic exhaust control, which was introduced with the Axia Newman R last year, is present in the 2019 GTZ, which allows the driver to drive a little bit more quietly when it comes to a time when noise isn’t the thing to have.

Boasting 20-inch WedsSport wheels in a deep grey finish, and inside them, high-performance Akebono vented disc brakes are what serves as the “footwork” of the sports car. with 285 wide rear tires and 265 fronts, it adds to the already grippy dynamics of the GTZ.

Compared to the previous generation, the GTZ is a bit lighter, rating at 1780 kg (opposed to the 5.6R’s 1856 kg) makes for a quicker, zippier car.

Aiding the weight of the new GTZ is a brand-new developed V8 engine. Referenced in the new name of the GTZ, is the 5.0L Twin Turbocharged 90-degree V8 co-developed by ZMD, named the SZ50-GDA2T. While smaller than the outgoing 5.6L SY56, is lighter, less powerful, but more efficient. While losing 18 HP from the previous generation, now cranking out 622 HP, still can go really fast, actually faster than the outgoing model, pumping out power to the rear wheels to hit a quick top speed of 210 MPH.

Expect more of these two beasts when they hit the showroom floors soon.

NYIAS MONTES SHOWROOM

2

Welcome to the Montes showroom!

Today, we are proud to present the new F-segment model of the brand, the T90, as well the definitive Urban 2018 TCR.

2018 Montes T90

But before introduce the model, we will answer questions, which have arisen in motor magazines, and among fans:

Questions and answers

But first, we will answer the questions that have arisen in specialized media about the nomenclature, as well as resolve the rumors surrounding the Excelsior.

On montes, we decided to change the nomenclature for the sedans between the D and F segment.

The T it means tourer, already indicating the clear approach to rolling comfort, but without forgetting the typical dynamic behavior expected by a customer of the brand.

And the numbers, indicates the segment of the car. They go three by three. T30 it would be a D-segment sedan, T60, E-segment sedan, and T90, F-segment sedan. At the moment, we have no planned sedan below segment D.

And about the Excelsior, there will be no change in the denomination. It is a G segment car, and also, a historical model name, so we have not made any changes.

And once the questions are answered, we go with the presentation of the model.

Technology

To leave a more orderly, sober and clean cabin, together with Sharp’s collaboration, we have developed a transparent central screen, which the driver can hide at the touch of a button. The screen is made of a plastic material in its core, combined with the use of an OLED panel, and protected with a glass projection.

For the controls on the steering wheel, we decided to replace the traditional pushbuttons, by capacitive sensors, with an OLED screen behind them, which shows the function. Why? Because by pressing one of the buttons, we can go from controlling the audio system, to the air conditioning system, and therefore, the volume up or down button would switch to adjusting the temperature. So. The buttons are the same, but pressing the Mode one, It changes from AC to sound, and vice versa.

We wanted to introduce the greatest number of controls on the steering wheel, so that the driver does not take his hands off the steering wheel, but without accumulating many buttons or be confussing.

In the autonomous driving section, the T90 incorporates the latest technology available in the market. Like LiDAR radars, for example, as well as an AI, developed by NVIDIA, that predicts what can happen on the road, or around it, to anticipate possible dangers.

The autonomous driving system is level 3.

Comfort

In Montes, we have been around 4 years, to develop a car as comfortable as possible, while dynamic.

To do this, we designed a hydropneumatic suspension, piloted, and controlled by RADAR, which, as we have said previously, reads the road, and adapts to the contour of it.

The feeling is like going on a cloud.

As we know that 65% of customers will be driven by a driver, we have designed a car with a wheelbase of 3.10m, to provide a large space for the legs, as well as to adjust the two individual seats. Two seats, with massage function, air-conditioned, and with automatic body adjustment.

Design

The body lines are soft, with a marked waist line, covered in chrome.

The handles, are retractable, and leave once the car opens.

They provide a clean lateral line, and an improvement in the drag coefficient.

Inside, leather presides most of the interior, along with wood, glass, marble and metal for the moldings and buttons.

The customer can choose between two types of leather: aniline and semi-aniline.

For the Asian market, you can order the interior, with seats covered in wool, instead of leather.

Engines

The car is available with three engine options: a 3.0 inline 6 with 311hp, a 5.0 v8 with 490hp, and a 5.8 V12, with 560hp. All engines, comes with turbocharger, direct injection, Montes SCHI technology, and a 48v mild hybrid system, for the V12.

T90 3.0: 80.250€.

They must merely be capable of taking back responsibility whenever the system prompts them to, with the system active, the driver can relax. They can take their hands off the steering wheel permanently and, depending on national laws, focus on a different activity that is supported by the car, such as watch a TV program on the 12-inch SACHIURI iX infotainment display in the centre console.

During highly automated travel a small camera in the driving area detects if the driver tires or falls sleep. If that happens, a multi-stage warning is given. As soon as the speed rises above 60 km/h (37.3 mph) or the line of vehicles breaks up, the traffic jam pilot informs the driver that they need to take charge of driving once again. If they ignore this prompt and the subsequent warnings, the new sL600x is braked to a standstill.
