Atlas Omega reveal at Goodwood 2019

While not a sports car or even a super car like many come to expect from Atlas, the Omega is no less sporty or performance oriented than any other Atlas vehicle. The Omega combines SUV utility and capability with the heart and soul of a pure bred sports car. The results speak for themselves, with impressive performance figures and quality production.

Atlas Omega S

The base model S comes well equipped with high quality interior and infotainment systems(including limited HUD capability similar to the Cosmos Vector HUD). However, the main feature of the Omega is the QN42 DE motor under the hood. Front-mid mounted and balanced to give the engine a lower center of gravity for improved the handling, allows the Omega S to reach 0-60(mph) in 4.6 seconds and give impressive handling generating 1.17G(with rear wing deployed).

The QN42 should be familiar, its also present on the Quantum line as one of the main engines. In the Omega it generates additional power thanks to an improved exhaust and intake. 488hp and 362LB-FT respectively. This power is put to the ground via the newest version of the edge AWD system and the A94 semi-automatic transmission(with paddleshifters for a bit quicker shifts on track). In addition, the QN42 has cylinder deactivation that works in conjunction with the A94’s eco automatic mode to give improved fuel efficiency after track days are finished.

Cost: $105,000(est.)

Specs:

Engine: 4.2L FSI V8 DOHC Transmission: A94 Semi-automatic(with paddleshift)
Horsepower: 488 hp @ 8200rpm Torque: 362 lb-ft @ 6200rpm
Weight: 4237lb Skidpad: 1.17g
0-60(mph): 4.6s Top speed: 155 mph(electronically limited)
1/4 mile: 13.02 MPG: 17.0 mpg(23.5 mpg with cylinder deavtivation and transmission in ECO mode)

Atlas Omega V

The V model of the Atlas Omega pushes the performance even further than the base model, adding twin turbo chargers to the engine and equipping the F8 Sequential gearbox for quick shifts. Power is pushed to an impressive 668 hp and 472 lb-ft of torque. This improvement to performance makes the Omega V the fastest (non electric/hybrid)SUV to date with a 0-60 of 3.2 seconds.

In addition to the improved power, additional aero and weight saving elements help improve the handling and keep the Omega V glued to the asphalt. But not all the improvements in the V are performance oriented, the interior has additional alcantara/real leather and now includes the full Vector HUD. In standard operating mode(demonstrated in booth) shows as a light blue and green accents showing gas, lane assist and blind spot indication. In sport mode, changes to a Orange and yellow accent, showing current HP/Torque and RPM. Finally in velocity mode, it shows as Red/Gold Accent, showing lap time/number of laps remaining, Boost PSI, and shift indicator.

Overall, the Omega V should more than satisfy any performance enthusiast as well as give them the utility they need for everyday driving.

Cost: $135,000(est.)

Specs:

Engine: 4.2L TFSI V8 DOHC Transmission: F8 Sequential Paddleshift
Horsepower: 668 hp @ 8500rpm Torque: 472 lb-ft @ 7000rpm
Weight: 4352lb Skidpad: 1.22g
0-60(mph): 3.2s Top speed: 180 mph(electronically limited)
1/4 mile: 11.35 MPG: 16.0 mpg(22.5 mpg with cylinder deavtivation and transmission in ECO mode)

Fancy a ride around goodwood? Atlas Omega V’s will be available for use on track for the duration of goodwood 2019. Omega(SUV) - V.car (45.3 KB)

The Omega V(with a professional driver) set a 54.24 around goodwood.

1968 Mosport Helix Le Mans

The Mosport Helix was conceived as one of the first supercars, blending Canadian engineering and Italian styling in a sleek mid-engine coupe design. The model was quickly adapted for the Le Mans race and was Mosport’s first serious foray into motorsports. Rule changes for 1968 forced them to abandon Dominion’s 7.3L Chinook V8, which the production model was built around, and replace it with a heavily modified version of the older Confederation V8 to fit within the newly imposed 5.0L displacement limit. This new engine pushed out 326 net hp and 346 lb-ft of torque and while it wasn’t enough to cinch the victory, the Helix still became an iconic car.

This ultra rare #4 car in Sea Fuels livery, one of four known to still exist in that particular livery, will be available for bidding in the upcoming Automation Collector Car Auction to anyone who so desires to own a piece of motorsport history.

Props to you for placing the firing order of your flat-six on the engine cover of the Mondo E2. And fluorescent lime green is the right color for it - the E2 looks even more striking in such a lurid hue.

Fresh from the 97th running of Pikes Peak, Colorado, comes this bad boy:

Because why not!? What better way to commemorate telling the Brits to fuck off day Independence day :us: :fireworks: by crossing the ocean and rubbing their faces in it crashing the party because we didn’t want to be in the same country as the POTUS when he decided to embrace his narcissistic compulsion to play fascist dictator and mangle world history yet again there’s no harm in a bit of light fun and racing, right?

You know what, there’s more redact in there than the DOJ released Mueller report the declassified CIA report on the use of torture in the War on Terror the investigation into Iraq’s WMDs and links to Al Qaeda. Maybe I’ll just do a William Barr the right thing and release a Patriotic American viewer friendly version.

before I get insta-:wastebasket: for getting too political up in this bitch

Yeeeeeeeehaaaaaaaw

Fresh from the 97th running of Pikes Peak, Colorado, comes this bad boy:

2309hp on the dyno. 2245kg. Big fat turbos and flame-spitting petrol-guzzling ear-splitting tyre-shredding fun. Having gone up one road that’s entirely too small for it, now we’re gonna throw it up an even smaller road! I think it does the whole course in like 45 seconds or something which isn’t that fast for 2300hp but I’m pretty sure it has to like do a 3 point turn to get past the brick wall.

Also you can drive it for yourself, here, have fun!

2020GGHC-strop - Hercules Canyon Hillclimb.car (60.5 KB)

Just watch out, it doesn’t have ABS and the brakes fade on a regular race track. It doesn’t fade on Pikes Peak because you don’t do that many full blown stops unlike on the Automation race track.

AL Autos @ Goodwood Festival of Speed (Part 1/2)

_ Hello one and all! Welcome to the AL Autos Booth here at the 2019 Goodwood Festival of Speed! We are here today with part one of our schedule, the release of a model out of our sports car division. Our sports car division decided to take on something we’ve always had difficulty with, making a Front Engine, Rear Wheel Drive sports car. We feel as if we’ve made some major improvements with our approach to this layout and today, we’re here to show you what we’ve accomplished. Let’s get right into it shall we? _

AL Autos is proud to present…

The AL Autos Agilis! Striking Performance.

RGS Trim Shown in AL Regular Blue

Ever since we here at AL Autos have gained the confidence to build Front Engine, RWD sports cars, we’ve always been striving to make improvements wherever we can to improve how these types of sports cars handled. During the development of the Agilis, we took inspiration from how we designed the suspension systems on the Carpe and sought to translate how we could do something similar in a Front Engine / RWD vehicle. Thanks to this, the Agilis has a bespoke Active AL Road Sport Suspension setup made specially for the Agilis. This bespoke suspension system allows the Agilis to hug the corners, have incredible turn in response and control, while not compromising comfort too much. This system also includes a new system we recently installed on the previously released Velox where the suspension system has a unique double spring setup where there are smaller springs that reside on top of the larger springs to aid in dissipating the harshness of the ride. The Agilis also comes with our pothole detection technology which detects potholes and adjusts/prepares the suspension to protect occupants from discomfort and the tires from being misaligned. When this model is up for sale later this year, it will come with a choice of two powertrains, both sending the power to the rear wheels of the car. The RGS trim has a specialized high output AL Autos 3.5 L Turbocharged Inline 6 producing 538.4 BHP and 371.1 lb-ft Torque with and MPG rating of 26.9 MPG. The RGS-DTD trim has a beefier 5.4 L Twin Turbocharged 90 Degree V8 producing 721.6 BHP and 530.9 lb-ft Torque with an MPG rating of 21.8 MPG. The time, patience, and development put into the Agilis allows the RGS and RGS-DTD trims to clock a 1:18.0 and 1:15.1 on the Top Gear Airfield Test Track respectively. We’ve put a lot of time into the underpinnings of the Agilis and we hope that it really has showed.

RGS-DTD Trim Shown in AL Fiery Sunrise

While the Agilis’ trims may seem to be track munching monsters, we did our best to not spoil the driving experience by making it an uncomfortable vehicle. We made it so that our interior supports the occupants while also providing a decent amount of comfort all while keeping it relatively lightweight. The seats are ALA or DTD Multi Point Adjustable Road Sport Bucket Seats which have been designed for the Agilis. The Agilis, as standard, comes with our newly improved ALAutos-Infotaimnet System loaded 15” infotainment screen. The gauge cluster on the Agilis is a bespoke fully digital system unique to the Agilis. This digital gauge cluster shows all the normal dials and statistics about the car, features an interactive image of the car on the gauge cluster, and is fully customizable. The RGS-DTD trim gets a specialized Heads Up Display located just above the gauge cluster which shows speed, turn list, selected gear, shift indicator, and pedal application. Finally, all trims of the Agilis get the current iteration of the ALADriveProfile, found on a lot of our sports cars. The ALADriveProfile in the RGS trim has 3 modes, Road Comfort (RC), Dynamic Sport (DS), and Race Mode (RM). The RGS-DTD trim gets an additional mode called All Speed Mode (ASM) in which the car becomes fully setup to do a top speed run. The driver can also create 4 more customizable profiles to allow for a more personalized driving experience. We here at AL Autos always strive to make improvements to our vehicles which make them more enjoyable to drive!

A Word on the Styling
With our new design language creeping into our lineup, we decided to take a slightly different approach when shaping the looks of this car. The front-end, for example, has a more aggressive front end than most of the other vehicles we’ve produced, but we’ve also held back on the parallelogram mosaic headlamps by making them more simple yet fitting to the aggressive front end. While we shaped up the front end with a lot of fixtures, we feel as if it still complements the overall feel and general shaping of the Agilis. The angles simply make the front end come alive in a good way.

The profile of this car is a slight first to AL Autos as it is more like a gentle flowing curve instead of a concoction of angles and such. We feel as if it gives the Agilis a bit more elegance even though the front end has an aggressive look to it.

The rear end of the Agilis is a bit of a unique turn for us here at AL Autos. The rear end was designed to be pleasant to look at for sure, but in a more subtle way. We took our parallelogram mosaic design and, again, toned it back a bit so it is more pleasing to look at. While this may seem a bit counter intuitive for a higher end sports car, we feel as if it still makes it pop out in on the road.

RGS-DTD Trim Shown in AL Fiery Sunrise

Prices for the Agilis are as follows (Prices are Estimations):

RGS: $69,500 USD
RGS-DTD: $104,000 USD

That’s all for the presentation! Thank you for joining us in this special event! Feel free to look around the car if you so desire. More pictures bellow. The spec sheet is also bellow if you would like a more in-depth look into what makes the Agilis go! If there are any automotive journalists or curious persons who would like to test drive the Agilis, don’t be afraid to ask! Again, thank you for joining us here at this special event! Have a lovely rest of your day!

Now equipped with an upgraded 2.0-litre turbocharged engine capable of 275 bhp and 285 Nm of torque, the Goodwood Edition fires from 0-100 kph (0-62 mph) in 5.8 seconds with a six-speed manual or 5.5 seconds with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic, while both models are capable of in excess of 250 kph (155 mph). Thanks to upgraded aerodynamics and stickier tyres, the Nemean is capable of pulling up to 1.1g in cornering, while potent brakes match the pulling power and the stopping power. All of this allows for an astonishing 1:01, fastest than any other hot hatchback to ever tackle the Goodwood hill climb.

With this being a more pure hatchback, the decision was made to ditch a lot of the creature comforts of this vehicle and replace certain features in favour of a more pure driving experience, leaving behind our touch-screen infotainment system, switching our comfort seats for lightweight buckets, removing soundproofing, adding a manual handbrake and removing the electronic one, allowing TCS and ESP to be completely disabled. We even ditched our driving modes for a simple, one car setup that means you will always be in the optimum mode for performance.

Cardinal Vorticia

Left is the Vorticia S. Middle is the Vorticia Base. Right is the Vorticia R.

The Cardinal Vorticia is based on the @TheAgathaNakai 2018 Serena S6 Series, similar to how RUF vehicles are being based on the Porsches, or Brabus vehicles being based on the Mercedes-Benz vehicles. As a result there are a few horsepower trims of the Vorticia, ranging from 600 HP to more than 1100 HP. Similar to the power, the price ranges from below $100K USD/$125K CAD, to more than $200K USD/$250K CAD!

Cardinal Vorticia Base

  • Same interior as the 2018 Serena S6 3.8S
  • Swapped with a Porsche 3.0L Flat 6 Twin Turbo Engine from the 992 GTS
  • Power is 600 HP and Torque is 500 LB-FT
  • Upgraded with a 7-Speed Sequential Manual Transmission with a Limited Slip Differential
  • Upgraded with Pirelli P Zeros along with 20 inch forged rims.
  • Upgraded Active Sport Suspension
  • New top speed is 348 km/h (airspeed tested in BeamNG)
  • Acceleration from 0-100 km/h is now less than 3 seconds
  • Quarter mile time is less than 11 seconds
  • Price is $99900 USD

Cardinal Vorticia S

  • Using carbon fiber trim as an interior upgrade and weight reduction as well.
  • Upgraded Brembo Carbon Ceramic Brakes
  • Upgraded 22 inch Magnesium Rims
  • Power is 723 HP and Torque is 600 LB-FT
  • Upgraded transmission with a Porsche 7-PDK with Electronic LSD

  • Same equipment as the Cardinal Vorticia S
  • Upgraded Semi Slick tires with 23 inch Carbon Fiber Rims
  • Power is 1100 HP and Torque is 900 LB-FT

Last but not least, I have to say thank you to @TheAgathaNakai for letting me use the Serena S6 to tune the beauty into a horsepower goddess which having an extremely powerful engine she deserves. Have a wonderful day!

2019 Goodwood Festival of Speed Pre-Show Coverage

This is Manabu Kurosawa, and welcome to the pre-show coverage of 2019 Goodwood Festival of Speed from us Drivers.com! This FOS is certainly huge, and loads of automakers are gathering together just to showcase their latest and greatest exotic cars to the public. So yeah, let’s begin.

Ohhh!!! Amazing! Beautiful! Zephorus presented the SLS, a full carbon supercar, that completed the Hillclimb between 41 and 47.65s.

Hades showed up a 2004… No, wait… anyway… 2020 Conquest, in three trims: the road-going car, and two race models, the RS and the GTLM. The RS will go on sale in late 2020, meanwhile the GTLM in 2021.

Kou-Pei and Velocity… That two generic kei cars from RWR promises at least fun and driving pleasure, and “more power and better chassis” on the Velocity, but with no more info specified.

And the Japanese manufacturer Tanaka unveiled the 5th-gen of the famous X-Series coupé, and is fan-bleeding-tastic! Powered by a NA 4.5-litre V8 that revs up to 9300 RPM (or the same engine, with twin-turbocharged), we can say that’s probably one of the last high-revving naturally aspirated V8s. Is a high-tech car (it comes with glued aluminium frame and autopilot, but fortunately, doesn’t come with steer-by-wire, to bring a better feedback from the steering wheel.

Mondo showed the E10 Naga, an absolute beast. Using the standard E10 as base, is now powered by a monstruous twin turbo 7.5L V10, with 812hp, making the 0-100 in 3 seconds, and capable to reach 359km/h of top speed. Interesting!

Can you imagine a Chinese sportscar, well built, back in 2009? No. But now, times changed, and the Chinese manufacturer Honghu showed the 8^8 (and not, it isn’t an 8-wheel and 8WD car), powered by a hybrid twinturbo V12, and featuring a very impressive design. And it ran the hillclimb in 49.34s! Awesome!

Shromet Parvus… Na-Nani! What’s doing a SUV here? A coupé SUV? An sport coupé SUV, with 277hp? No, thanks… (Manabu is shocked and affected)

That’s better… Meliora has brought back two of it’s iconic racers: The MM12, and the Andron, scoring the MM12 51.07s, and the Andron 56.96s on the hillclimb.

And Anueis presented five models: a carbon fibre saloon, the FS, that features V12 twin turbo engines, and high-tech; a van with hand made and 470hp… And other SUV (tears), powered by a 5.0 V8 with 520hp. Not bad, but fitted in the wrong body. An also a 510hp compact (and discrete) sedan, as well a concept car called Leona.

Oh! Mondo again, but that time in form of a supercar! And it has 1.3G of cornering grip! What a monster! And the engine, is a 2.0T H6, with 300Hp, and can do the 0-100 in 3 seconds, weighting less than 1000kg!

NOOOOOO!!! Atlas Omega!!! More SUVs noooO!!! Hum… It has good performance on the paper! 4.2 TT V8, 488hp, 1.17G… But is weeird.

What the heck is that! Cardinal Uwerwa… Uberwagen, yeah! HOLY SH*T!!! 1000HP 3.8L twin turbo V6! But is expensive AF! $300K!!!

And here, we have another classic beauty! The legendary Mosport Helix Le Mans from 1968!!! With the Sea Fuels livery!!! (he collapses to the ground, faint).

(Trying to understand where he has come from) Cardinal Skyline… First time that I hear about this brand… 3.5L inline 6… 1000HP IN A SEDAN AND WAGON??? Do they think they are Calvinator? Hmmm… At least has a more reasonable 700hp trim…

And Neko presented the X-Fuel, a hypercar that works with a combustion engine… and an algae based fuel, that you can use in any conventional car! Great idea to reuse old cars! And it looks gourgeous!

And that’s all folks! Now, it’s time to start the engines, and enjoy the show! See’ya later!

Hey there, no reviews of today’s entries? Just curious…

Mondo Takes On the Hillclimb!

Sunday, 7th July 2019. A dry overcast afternoon, the sky a shimmering pale white, as it so often is over Goodwood. Mondo finally takes their assortment of vehicles to the hillclimb.

The Mondo E10 Naga is first up the hill. Blazing off the line at speeds much faster than its size implies, the high performance luxury car breezes past Goodwood House. Rounding the corners and threading through the slow section over at the flint wall, the Mondo E10 Naga crosses the line at 0.54.93.

And now the All New Mondo E2 takes its turn up the hill. Performance-wise, it is the antithesis of the E10 Naga; light, low powered, a small cornering champion more than it is a straight line bruiser. As such, it trails behind the Naga in the opening fast sections. However, it becomes far more comfortable through the technical section of the climb, sprinting between the hay bales with great agility. The Mondo E2 utimately crosses the line at 0.53.98.

And that is all from Mondo at Goodwood… Or is it?
Behind the Mondo E2, out rolls another, surprise vehicle under tarp. Its silhouette is indeed quite a strange sight to see in Goodwood. Once it arrives at the starting line the tarp is unveiled and it definitely is different.

The Coba SuperCourier Prototype

No, this is not a Mondo branded vehicle. The Coba Creative Division (CCD) is the experimental division under Mondo Automobiles, tasked with exercising and executing design and/or engineering ideas that may or may not be implemented in future Mondo models. As such, its products may be wild and quite far removed from ordinary Mondo vehicles. The SuperCourier is an exploration of the ultimate performance in a delivery vehicle. As a result, the SuperCourier gives a whole new meaning to “guaranteed same day delivery.”

Without further delay, the SuperCourier flies off the starting line at great pace, hitting 100 km/h in a show-stopping 2.6 seconds. This is thanks to its 642hp 4.4L i6TT engine, and its lightweight carbon fibre construction giving the vehicle an empty weight of only 1432kg. Hurtling down the course into Molecomb, the SuperCourier surprises again with its turn in rate, thanks to its performance tyres and suspension optimized for both load carrying and cornering. Hitting the carbon ceramic brakes at the flint wall, the back end getting quite light, the SuperCourier navigates the tight corner well and then sprints to the line, setting a 0.51.37, the fastest time under Mondo.

And thus concludes Mondo’s attendance at the Goodwood Hillclimb. Thank you for your attention, and enjoy the festival!
