Zenshi arrives at the motor show with their current lineup of cars, ranging from the tiny Tessitura to the large Pike, and setting the centre of attention in their section of the show with two essential models to the brand.

2019 Grandea

2018 GTS-30T Type M Shown in Force Blue

While the Grandea hasn’t changed significantly from last year, the biggest change for it is a newer version of the LZ3-ACE GMTE engine that now has VVL technology implemented within it, allowing for more power to be added, while displaying efficient power delivery.

Also new for this year is the inclusion of a turbocharged I4 model, the 320 HP 2.5L QS25GDAT, as the new base engine of the Grandea. Like the 3.0L models, the GTS-25T comes in two versions: the comfort-oriented Type-M, and the sports-oriented Type-S.

The iconic 2+2 premium sports coupe will come standard with a multitude of features, such as power tilt/telescopic steering and front bucket seats, remote engine start, 8.5 in touchscreen, dual climate control, and power folding side mirrors. Options include Nakamichi premium audio (standard on the GTS-30T Type M), leather upholstery (standard on GTS-25T Type M and both 3.0L models), and SM-AWS. All models will come with a choice between a 6-Speed Manual or a 6-Speed AvanTec.

Like the Grandea, the Axia carries itself over from last year, but with some improvement both inside and out.

The 2018 Axia is given a touched up front bumper revision that gives a more sophisticated appearance, yet still accentuates the athleticism the full-size sedan possesses. Standard equipment on the Axia is the same from last year, which included a power dual panoramic sunroof, dynamic active suspension, active noise control, and a 360-degree camera.

For the 2018 model year, the overall trims have been simplified to a few versions: 3.0M and 4.8M, and a 3rd version which is still currently being tested, and utilizes a similar powerplant to what was used over 12 years ago.

A mysterious car has been filmed at a nearby airport.

Just a day later, Dimension Motors , which is founded 4 years ago, admitted that this car and the Gerala(Recently introduced by the media) are their creations. And this mysterious car’s name is …Xerinna.

Dimension Motors makes their first step at the supercar market. After 3 years of development, Xerinna is finally completed.

This beast is powered by a 3.0L Twin Turbo V6.Producing 485HP and about 600Nm.

Despite it is kind of underpowered as a supercar, it’s performance is definitely a supercar. Xerinna weights only 1260kg thanks to the carbon fiber chassis.(1203kg for the RWD version, which is planned to announce at 2019) Xerinna is also using the custom version of Gerala’s AWD system and better infotainment, to provide even greater driving experience. Dimension Motors also did a great job on the fuel economy–35mpg(US)! You rarely see such economy in the supercar category. Overall, It is clear that Xerinna is definitely a great balanced super. As a newcomer of the car industry, Dimension Motors is doing very well!

Press Day 1

The 2018 Geneva International Motorshow is finally underway at last, and we’ve seen a whole slew of official releases on this first of the press days. I’ve even had a chance to do some test-drives too. Without further ado…

Aha! So that’s what Leviathan have been teasing. LMC’s new small sports car, the Tempest, is a handsomelooking machine, if a little plain round the front. It looks to be a fairly solid ~£30k sports coupe, with a decent range of engines, including a very fruit 2.6l Turbo V6 on the top-of-the-range Twinturbo R trim, offering a sub-5 seconds 0-60 time for a smidgen over $40k. The mid-range GTt rim looks more tempting, with a 257hp i6 under the bonnet and some handsome chrome detailing. Shame it just looks a bit outdated.

Cornaldie’s new Sprinter 350 Touring claim’s to be “The All-Weather Premium Sport Wagon you never knew you wanted”. I’m not so sure about that when the front appears to have one too many vents on and the rear looks tall enough for it to be almost a crossover. It’s decently quick , with 0-60 in 4.5 seconds, and decently efficient too, but I can’t help feeling that there are more succint offerings from Rennen and Bonham. If Cornaldie were interested in getting a proper verdict, then I’d be all down for a test-drive…

An AWD electric sports coupe pretending to be a muscle car. Well, that’s the best summary of EVE’s Phoenix concept that I could come up with, a car that doesn’t look aggressive enough to be a muscle car by any means and certainly doesn’t seem to be one underneath. What is worth nothing howeveris EVE’s Variable Motor Technology, something we’ve all been expecting to appear on electric cars soon enough. Variable drive is something that will have serious benefits for a lot of drivers once it starts appearing on production cars and not just concepts, and I look forward to that immensely.

Kogan’s new STS Turbo is a track machine the size of a pocket calculator. It’s a tidy looking machine, and with some 370hp under the bonnet, it’ll certainly be fast too. Weighing in at under 1 ton, it certainly seems like a very capable track toy for sure. No word on any lap times however yet, which would be a good test to see how much of a track machine it really is.

As per usual, AL Autos did not hold back in providing the most detailed press pack of the whole show. The Flusso has received another styling update, and has another new engine, this time a 3.5l turbo i6. One does wonder if this car will ever actually be finished enough to state where two or model years actually see any similarities at all. The Luxus also has a new new engine and more styling tweeks. As for their new Semita, “[They themselves] don’t even know what to call this car”. Huh, interesting that. I had the chance to test drive it, which you can read below.

Zastero’s new Venirus coupe may sound like a medical term, but it’s actually a luxury car. It promises smooth torque delivery, 445 hp to boot and air suspension. For $35k, that’s not too shabby at all, but the styling does not sell it at all. It’s too tall, the front end looks like 3 cars have been stitched together - badly - and the promise of “hydraulic steering” isn’t exactly revolutionary.

So you thought the near-$50k MRP trim of the Montes Urban was expensive? Pah! You ain’t seen nothing. That was a car that offered top-tier hot-hatch performance for over $15k more than the average price of its rivals. So of course, the next logical step is a car that is to offer a trim that is 0.7 seconds faster from 0-60, 207kg lighter, more inefficient, 2 km/h faster and that runs with a tuned version of the same V6 engine for Eighty One Thousand Dollars. $81k for a hot hatch that’s as fast as similarly priced sports coupes and reaching well into the luxury car price territory is the single most stupid and absurd offering for a car I have ever seen. What an absolute joke of a hatchback.

Bramble’s slogan for their new Moro sports coupe left me confused. “Where’s the fun if you can’t control it?” Well, heh, I think there’s quite a lot of fun to be had when you’re not in con…
…moving swiftly on to protect my journalistic integrity, the Moro isn’t ugly but nor is it stunning. And more than anything else, it looks tired. It’s a bit on the heavy side compared to the other entry level sports cars we’ve seen at the show, though it still pegs in a respectable 0-60 time of 6.4 seconds. Pricing in the low-£20ks mark thougb isn’t enough to save it from being outclassed by rivals in the styling department entirely.

Hoorah! The new Shromet Radiant is here. Like the previous gen, it’s one hell of a smiley looking thing, though I can’t seem to work out why it’s so tall (odd suspension modelling to blame perhaps?). Still, that height ought to satisfy the cross-over buyers, as will it’s neat range of engines, which includes a very temping 2.0l i6. Hybrid models and an all-electric trim are also promised.

What’s with the long face, Halcyon GT? Leviathan seem to have given their updated luxury coupe some very sad eyes, yet with so many luxury toys on the inside, V12 and V10 engines on offer and some very tempting performance specs, you’d think it’d be happier.

Scagliati made sure to deliver their usual display of automotive beauty with the stunning Il Dominante. Not the most radical looking hypercar ever, but an awfully pretty one at that. 1100hp under the bonnet with a proper V12 soundtrack, AWD and a stunning interior; luxury meeting top-end technology in all the right ways. They even claim it should be comfortable, efficient and practical enough “to be used as a continent-crossing GT car in the same vein as La Serenissima”. Quite a bold claim, but then again, with a price tag of $452k, you’d damn well expect it to do everything.
The new La Serenissima GTE was also unveiled, promising to bring some Renaissance-era sophistication and another V12 soundtrack to the WEC this year. It’s a mean, if rather clean looking machine, though then again, that’s probably the point. Team announcements are expected shortly.

Znopresk gave a history-focused presentation to reveal their new Zenit and Zest. It’s a big shift styling wise for the Italian marque, but one that I think just about works. The new front ends of the cars aren’t exactly pretty, but they’re certainly interesting nonetheless. As for specs? Nothing as of yet, but expect them to be as predictably safe and solid as Znopresk’s have been for the last few decades. if the brilliant little new Zap! I drove last year at the same show is anything to go by, we shouldn’t have anything to fear regarding the status of the Automationverse’s most brilliantly average company.

Then again, who wants average when you can have pure Automotive seduction in the form of the new Bonham Kashmir. God dammit Bonham, you’ve made another stunning looking machine, this one more grown up than the more feminine Fleming but far more imposing. Specs are set to arrive soon, though I can confirm that it will be available with a 6.0l V12 and frankly that’s all we need to know.

Aurora started their announcements run of the show with the stunningly awkward looking Nightshade SUV. I am honestly speechless at how anything can look so odd, so much so that I might need some nightshade just to drive it.

Zenshi introduced updates to its European model lineup, with the focus on the new 2018MY Grandea and 2018MY Axia. It may well be the 50th facelift we’ve seen for these cars in the past year, but there’s no denying how graceful the now look. Both car’s specs remain basically unchanged, aside from a simplifying of the Axia’s trim range. As for the Grandea, you can find out more in my road test below.

Dimension - not the American Dimension, a different one - revealed the new Xerinna. It appears to be a low-end supercar, with 485hp under the bonnet in M-AWD configuration. It promises sub-3.0 seconds 0-60 times for around $80k, certainly offering value for money there.

Review: 2018 Zenshi Grandea GTS-30T

Sporty, comfortable and stylish is the best way to sum up this latest iteration of the Grandea. This 3.0l GTS trim offers plenty of that $40k-something premium car goodness - not too sharp, not too shouty, yet still very capable - and certainly delivers with the premium element. The very nice infotainment system really stands out on this model, as does the 2+2 seat configuration, which almost makes you feel like you’re driving a mini-GT car.

The engine, however, reminds you that you certainly aren’t. It’s all about the mid-range torque with 3.0l turbo i6, offering 360hp at peak. It’s decently responsive, but doesn’t have that edge that you need at the top end to call it a performance car. Then again, that’s not really the point; the engine suits the rounded feel of the car.

On the Swiss mountain roads I drove this thing on, it felt engaging enough to be almost exciting. It’s definitley a low-speeds car, but it offers enough to be interesting on the limit. It’s quite the tight car though through the corners; the suspension might be soft, but it tightens up at the limit, suggesting that they’re trying to contain body roll rather than combating it properly in the first place.

It’s not the most efficient machine in the world either, coming in at an average of just under 30 UK MPG, which I would expect better from. That sadly doesn’t make the complete all-rounder I hoped I could call it.

As a mid-size exectuive car option, it does the job - just. Far more of a cruiser than a car you could really call fun on the road, though it can deliver in that aspect. The low fuel economy, however, is a disappointment, and other rivals can offer similar experiences and better running costs.

Mother of God. The Semita is not pretty. The back is confused and doesn’t seem to know where to end with its vents. The front is thin and looks like someone tried to make Waluigi into a car. And that salmon pink colouring is not helping either.

The engine is bonkers too. For a block that, according to the S.A.M. office’s calculations will take just over 80 years to actually design, they’ve managed to some how end up limiting its powerband, meaning that the turbocharge 2.1l i4 hits the wall at 9k with no run off after. 468 hp is certainly very good though; shame that it’s powerful a car that markets for $160k, which is frankly absurd for a 4 cylinder supercar.

Then, there’s the suspension. The front is soft and crashy, and regularly bottoms out. But the rear? It’s like a whole other car. It’s solid as granite, meaning that on anything smoother than fresh tarmac, the whole car bumbles about, all the while pivoting around the rear wheels. Amazing!

How then, one wonders, can they spend so much money on the engine and the suspension, and make the interior so basic? It’s less of a supercar in here and more of a £30k hot hatch. Even the infotainment feels basic for the price.

Oh sure, it’s very fast in a straight line - 0-60 in 2.9 seconds and a 201 mph top speed - but it’s so hard to use and unbearably annoying elsewhere that it wouldn’t even be worth recommending this car to someone as a joke.

That’s all for day one. We’ll conclude press coverage tomorrow. For now, it’s time to find an afterparty and a hotel room for a one night stand, cause my god am I going to need one to clear my mind after some of the stuff I’ve seen today.

The 2018 Roadster it comes witt three engines: a naturally aspirated 2.0L 160hp engine, the turbo 2.0L 230hp (used on the Urban GT Turbo), and a 3.5 V6 (a detuned version from the MRP RX35VG) with 336hp.

The only available transmission, is a 6-speed manual gearbox, coupled to a geared LSD. Later, a six-speed double clutch box will also be offered.

The new chassis, monocoque type, is built in lightweight AHS steel, and has 50% more torsional rigidity than the previous generation, but with less weight.

As for the body, has a retro design, which collects features and characteristics of sports cars of the 60s. A large front grille and details such as mirrors (extra), as well as the rear and side grille, in chrome. Combined with contemporary details, such as the lean and thin headlights, Matrix full LED technology (and laser in option for the high beam), LED tail lights, slim design, and aerodynamic handles, with chrome finish.

The 2018MY MK III Aspera sees large changes to it’s front fascia and rear end as well as the engine line-up with the removal of the comparatively inefficient 2.2 inline 4. The top of the range 3.0 turbocharged inline 6 has been updated to produce 295hp through changed VVL aggressiveness and ignition remapping.

The 2.5 inline 4 turbo still features in the line-up and has also undergone a revamp allowing it to produce a total of 248hp. Both models are now available with optional all wheel drive that was previously only available on estate models.

Both trims come with a 10 speaker sound system, bluetooth connectivity and two zone climate control as well as a large amount of safety equipment. A 7-Speed automatic or a 6-Speed manual are available in both trims.

Caliban’s humble announcement.

What are we doing here? Didn’t expect us? Yeah, but we have something to announce.

After four years accepting orders for the newest generation of the Caliban Thunder, we’ve finally finished our first image and engine refresh for it.

The new Caliban Thunder will be just as nimble as before the facelift, but the engine output has been raised from 150hp to 180hp; the engine has been kept N/A and has even reduced its displacement from 1.6 to 1.4 liters. To counter this and make even more power, we extended the rev range and powerband, now redlining at 9000rpm. As such, out latest version of our famous I4 has been nicknamed “Screamer”.

The new engine doesn’t use VVT for a purer experience, but it does use VVL to increase efficiency. Consumption has decreased to 8 l/100km for the newer engine, while offering more power and higher revving than the older engine.

The refreshed Thunder will now be orderable for only $19400.

It reach 100km/h in less than 6.2 seconds. But all the sportiness do not came at the sacrifice of the car’s drivability. A car that means Fun!

New for 2019, Leviathan brings you the Scylla series. Loaded with technology developed from the Halcyon project, there is a Scylla for the role of family commuter, luxury sedan, and high-performance GT.

The Scylla (base model)

The base model Scylla is a premium sedan is powered by a very smooth and enjoyable 2.1L inline-6 turbo, giving it 238 hp and 215 lb-ft. of torque. The Scylla achieves a combined 34.6 mpg with cruising tests reaching much higher. Thanks in part to its VVL technology, the inline-6 is quiet at low speeds and is capable of revving up to 9000 rpm. 0-62 mph acceleration is just over 6 seconds and the top speed is tested at 153 mph. Surprisingly nimble for it’s size, the Scylla makes use of it’s active multilink suspension, dual clutch transmission, and AWD layout for a fun driving experience that doesn’t sacrifice everyday comfort.

The entry level trim comes with premium leather seats, a sunroof, and Leviathan’s tried and true premium infotainment system. A $3,500 option is available for the new HUD system with 12-speaker Revel audio, internet access, voice controls and more. Electric Variable power steering and ESC ensure the Scylla is easy to drive and includes a sport setting. The base Scylla’s pricing starts at $30,995.

Scylla S

The S model is the next major step up from family sedan to GT car. This trim level features a 3.3L V8 twinturbo making 369 hp. This is enough to propel the Scylla S from 0-62 mph in 4.6 seconds and reach speeds near 180 mph. The tuned suspension and high performance tires help the 2-ton car push 1.2 g’s around corners. The advanced HUD system comes standard with the S model as well as the highest quality safety features available. Much faster and nearly as efficient as the base model at a combined 30.7 mpg, the Scylla S is priced at $58,100.

Scylla GT

The high end Scylla GT is a 2+2 coupe version with the option of 4 full seats. The GT gets its power from the Halcyon’s 488 hp V12 twinturbo. The 0-62 mph time is a blistering 3.6 seconds without the help of its launch control and its top speed is 193 mph. Carbon ceramic brakes stop the GT from 62-0 mph in just 94 ft. Every inch of the interior conveys quality, with it’s futuristic HUD system shared with the Halcyon GT. The fuel economy is not sacrificed for this performance 30.6 mpg combined. While not tuned for the track racing, the GT achieved 1:18.25 around the Airfield test track. The Scylla GT will be available later this year for $84,675.
