Nevio Altera, was the head engineer for an Italian supercar company.** In 1939, privately, he started working on his own car, the Altera Augri, which took 7 years to produce, was specially engineered to beat the secret project of the same Italian company. He announced his sudden withdrawal from the company in 1945. The handmade Augri was released for public sale in 1946. The car had a space frame chassis with aluminum panels, and double wishbone suspension. The car had a 5.2 Litre V12 heart, so it was named the Augri 522. The car had 290HP, and even more torque.*** The Augri was calculated in 1954, to have sold wonderfully, with a 120% markup. The car had a top speed of 157 MPH and could reach 62 MPH in 8.3 seconds.****

In 1946, the same year the Augri came out, Nevio, with his new team, started working on a smaller supercar, that would soon be named the Sendra. The Sendra was very similar to the Augri in styling and technical standpoints. The Sendra came out with a 3.5 litre V8 engine, and unlike other V8s, had a different firing order, giving it a unique sound. The Altera Sendra 358 came out in 1948 but was much cheaper and had a 60% markup, and was produced more.

In 1947, Altera Motors started working on a faster variant of the Altera Augri. Named 522S, it came out a year later, and it came with a bang, with 326HP, and a top speed of over 165 MPH, and reached 60 MPH 0.1 seconds faster than the original.

The same year the 522S and 358 came out, Altera started working on an S variant for the 358, but before release Nevio decided that it would be called the 358P, as the 522S was too special for them to have an S model of the 358. It had 243HP, and reached 60 MPH in 8.6 Seconds.

In 1947, Altera started working on a new GT car. This car would soon be named the Semprano, and with the same engine from the Sendra, the first model was sold as the Altera Semprano 358GT. With this car, Nevio introduced the “Swept Silver”, an emblem on the bonnet of the car. The 358GT sold very well, with an 80% markup.

In 1950, Altera Released a V12 version of the Semprano called the 522GT. This model had the engine from the original Altera Augri, the 5.2 Litre V12. The 522GT also sold much better than the 358GT, leading to the cancellation of the V8 Semprano in 1951.

In 1952, Altera began planning for an alternative to the Altera Augri. In 1953, they decided there would be a V16 version, as well as the V12, but a year before they released it, they decided to have a V8 and V12 variant instead. It was named the Naramo, after Nevio’s brother. The V8 had a new 4 litre flatplane with the same firing order as the original Altera V8. The V12 would be released in 1956, with a new 6.1 litre. The V8 was cancelled in 1957, because the 612 had much better sales, but all engines produced for it where kept in the factory.

Since the Augri, Altera was working on a huge, comfortable, luxury limousine. They released it in 1956, and it was named, the Gala, it had a Type 612 Motor, with 2 mufflers. It demolished all of the competition, and was 5.35 metres long. It also came with the new signature, “Reverse Doors”, and was sold to the richest men and women. In 1957, the 7016 came out, with a massive 7.0 V16.
