2018 Blaire LaFette Facelift
The final attempt at saving the long beloved LaFette from the SUV dominated market. The 2018 facelift featured updated bold styling that had quickly gone outdated, improved technology and a new assortment of engines. But alas no matter how much money was put into it the company was unsuccessful in saving the flagship sedan
Broken Dreams
The facelifted LaFette featured an updated V6 and a roaring V8 for the introduced VST model to the LaFette in late 2018. It is rumored the LaFette is still being produced in Australia and China, but none have been confirmed. The Facelift got rid of the luxurious Normandi model which had been a top of the line trim level for the LaFette since 1950. Leaving only the S, SE, Touring, and VST
There were many improvements to the LaFette like the addition of front accident warning systems and a blind spot warning system, among other things. The rear taillight bar got an update featuring new LED lights and darker glass, it gave a nicer modern look to the back and was positive reception when it was unveiled alongside the 11th generation Rodman at the 2017 Los Angeles Motor Show.
Improved Performance
When the new engines were announced, signals were mixed. Because although the sound of a large twin-turbo V8 was promising, putting it in a grandma car wasn't a good idea from a marketing standpoint. Fuel economy was slightly improved but otherwise stayed the same or was worse than before. The S, SE and Touring models came with a 3.6L Naturally-aspirated V6 producing 285hp and 247lb-ft, 0-62 time figures were never release. The VST came with a 4.5L Twin-Turbocharged V8 producing 554hp and 462lb-ft, 0-62 time was 4.7 seconds.
The Legacy of the LaFette will forever live on in the hearts of the ones who drive them and love them. Rumors have speculated that Blaire may produce a fullsize EV sedan in as part of the EL Vehicle Project. But until then the LaFette will be replaced with the EL-1 this summer.
