It’s a convenient coincidence actually, I needed an engine that was shorter than an I6 but scaled up better than an I4. I was using the V6 but I can’t make economical tuned turbo versions of them cheaply due to the duplication of turbo’s and exhaust parts. I was thinking of where I’d have to compromise then I remembered a recent video by Killrob talking about I5’s and their benefits and I realised they were perfect for my next gen engine family, lol. :sunglasses:

I’m really impressed with my results so far, although it’s early days yet, and I’m hoping to get my company back on top thanks to I5 awesomeness! I just hope that I’m not swamped with everyone else using them in Generations as I need a competitive advantage, stat!!!

1991 - 1994 Model 22 (Mutineer)

The second model to receive the efficiency dividend was the Model 22. Gone were the high end niche cars and the Delta engine line was replaced with the new Epsilon powerplants. Rather than proliferate new engine families for every trim, Bogliq has focussed on getting the most from a single family using capacity change and turbocharging provide the differentiation between the various trims. The Mk2 Model 22 was also extensively workshopped with it’s target audience and changes were made on that basis. The overall result is a car that’s cheaper to buy, cheaper to run and makes the buyer happy…

1991 - 1994 Model 23 (Maverick)

The third recipient of the efficiency dividend was the Model 23. Again the majority of niche models were dropped due to them crossing over with Bogliq sports car range and the number of expensive engine options were culled down to a single engine family. As with the Model 21 and 22, the Model 23 switched to FWD and has had the Epsilon powertrain installed in all models…

Yep, the homologation program is still in operation, despite setbacks at the track and on the sales floor. The biggest changes for this seasons homologation car is that the competition carburettors, exhaust headers and race cam have been replaced with an E-Bog fuel injection system and more road useable headers and cam spec. This is partly to avoid the dramas of the race carbs catching fire and also to make the car less of a burden to own…

This saw the complete takeover of the Epsilon inline five turbo engine platform as the standard Model 24 drivetrain. The Model 24 also became standard equipped with a manual gearbox since most of the sedan range had all been respecced with automatic gearboxes as standard…

It is anticipated that the new Model 24 will boost sales to young people and those who want more interaction with their daily driving commute. Fans of the V8 Coyote are discreetly handed a Leeroy Racing brochure as they’re rumoured to be putting out a “handling kit” which will satisfy those customers particular needs…

1991 - 1994 Model 25 (Overlander)

The Model 25 had proved to be less than successful on its debut. The new hybrid chassis was very successful as a concept but the large V8 and over specification of each trim had lead to a vehicle that was simply too expensive for the target market to afford.

Even though the Model 25 was included in the efficiency dividend, many in Bogliq Powertrain felt that the large capacity V8 had to stay and that savings would be incremental over the 1987 spec. The lead engineer in Bogliq R&D was heard to mutter “Hold my beer…” as he developed a variant of the Epsilon program that had the required stump pulling torque so beloved of the 4WD fraternity. The result was a Model 25 that was easier to drive, use less fuel and was cheaper overall to build.

With the introduction of the efficiency dividend program Bogliq USA re-merged two separate models back together. The Model 18 was due for replacement in 1991 anyway but the hybrid monocoque chassis pioneered in the Model 25 meant that the Model 5 could be replaced as well. Considering that the Model 5 was really inefficient in its manufacturing design and the tooling was thoroughly worn out by this stage made the kill order an easy one.

Thanks to the hybrid chassis the Model 26 can still have a leaf sprung rear end to carry heavy loads while having a quality cabin ambiance that only monocoque can provide. The Epsilon powertrains provide economical performance and the aerodynamic styling provides the good looks!

1991 - 1994 Model 27 (Nihilist)

With the abject failure of the Model 20 as a style leader for Bogliq USA, the Model 27 was to be re-positioned as a low volume halo car for the brand once again. The efficiency dividend was applied differently to the Model 27, compared to the rest of the range, as the Model 27 would showcase some tech that had been seen before, but was too costly, and some new, never before seen, tech. This was to ensure that the Model 27 lived up to the image of a halo car in every way. The Model 27 also was reinterpreted as a Continental GT, making the Model 27 more attractive to a wider range of customers…

Finally Bogliq USA had a worthy halo car in the spirit of the original Model 9. Tasteful, elegant design dovetails with the Epsilon powertrain to bring a sense of genuine prestige that only the V12 Model 9’s had a chance in matching. Bogliq USA’s halo may have slipped during the 80’s but the Model 27 was the right car at the right time to put it firmly back in place at the top of the tree!

1995 - 2002 Model 28 (Zealot)

Much to Bogliq USA’s surprise, the efficiency dividend produced startling results which resulted in a substantial profit windfall for the struggling US company. The model 22 Mutineer in particular was a resounding success with its high efficiency drivetrain and razor sharp pricing. So it was rather unsurprising that the Model 21 was rather less popular than it should have been. The base Model 21 had inferior fuel efficiency to the Model 22 and had less interior space and it’s only grace was that it was quicker in a straight line…

The Model 28 sought to remedy this situation in a number of ways. The first change was that the car was bigger than before and now matched the Model 22 in footprint. The second major change is the inclusion of second gen Epsilon powertrains, turbocharged and sporting VVT, to drastically improve fuel efficiency. The final change is an improvement in safety and interior quality to make the ownership of a Model 28 much more pleasant.

The Model 28 was first conceived in the dark days of 1989, during the efficiency dividend, and its visual design reflects an element of that need to dampen down excess. Thankfully the second wave Epsilon engines have brought down the fuel usage markedly which will translate into better sales and happier customers…

1995 - 2002 Model 29 (Mutineer)

In a nice vindication for the supporters of the Efficiency Dividend Program, the Model 22 spearheaded a major sales resurgence for Bogliq USA. This meant that the team working on the new generation Mutineer had big shoes to fill…

The new Model 29 was a change in direction from previous Mutineer models. The wheelbase was unchanged from the Model 28 but the width was increased by roughly 10mm. This made the Model 29 more stable and more roomy than the Model 28 without having to physically upsize to near Maverick levels. Powered by a brace of Epsilon inline 5’s, the Model 29 would improve safety, passenger comfort and build quality as well as improve fuel economy across the board…

1995 - 2002 Model 30 (Maverick)

Perhaps the least effective result of the Efficiency Dividend was the Model 23. Despite major price reductions as well as useful gains in fuel efficiency, the Model 23 failed to reignite sales of Bogliq’s largest sedan. When research was done on the matter, it was found that across the board there was a drop in the interest levels of buyers for traditional large sedans. This was due to a couple of factors. First, the SUV craze was just beginning, with families wanting to buy a vehicle that better suited their “lifestyle” even if they didn’t actually partake in what the SUV promised it was good for! The second factor was that buyers were downsizing. Smaller families and retirees were driving sales of better equipped small and medium cars and no-one had time for a overly large, basic and cheap sedan. Buyers of large cars were flocking to luxury brands or top tier trims and ignoring the cheaper specced alternatives…

Therefore, when the Model 30 was being designed, Bogliq USA product planners dropped the base spec and luxury spec Maverick trims; the base spec wasn’t popular and Luxury buyers wanted premium brands such as Erin, Bonham or Lurlaro, not Bogliq. The ASCAR program was retained as it generated a lot of goodwill in the states that hosted the race series but that was the extent of the model variations available…

The Maverick is fast becoming a relic of the past but careful drivetrain design and selection is keeping the Model 30 relevant to the modern US consumer. It is expected that the Model 30 will appeal the most to taxi and Limousine firms as the car looks classy and is very efficient on fuel while having plenty of cabin space. The ASCAR variant has benefitted from multipoint fuel injection upgrades thanks to ASCAR rules being more relaxed regarding homologation requirements and is expected to sell enough to ensure compliance with ASCAR sales quotas…

The Mk 3 update will continue the good sales of the Mk 2 Model 24 while saving the Bogliq USA customer even more on their fuel bill. The Mk 3 Model 24 Coyote is perhaps the most clear example of the Bogliq philosophy to allow the customer to have their cake and eat it afterwards!

1995 - 2002 Model 25 (Overlander)

The success achieved with the efficiency dividend program on Overlander sales was impressive. Overnight, it seemed, customers lined up for the massive truck, attracted by the much reduced purchase price and running costs. But this expansion came at a unexpected cost; parts for the hydropneumatic suspension became scarce as the supplier was unable to ramp up production to meet Bogliq USA’s orders. Rather than introduce a new supplier into the parts chain, with the inherent risk of compatibility clashes, Bogliq USA chose to engineer a simpler conventional spring/shock arrangement for the 1995 update. Otherwise, the Model 25 had it’s safety credentials increased and the engines gained the Mk II VVT tech and re-sized turbocharger to further improve fuel efficiency…

The dropping of hydropneumatic suspension improved the reliability and fuel economy of the Overlander for only a tiny percentage reduction in offroad ability. 99% of customers won’t notice and the remainder are invited to have a peek inside the Leeroy Racing options catalogue; Bogliq USA will build you what you want if you have the time and the money to do so!

1995 - 2002 Model 26 (Squadstar/Cargostar)

The new, merged together, utility Model 26 duo had a charmed reveal. Bogliq USA was kicking goals and customers were finally interested in what Auntie Bogliq had to offer. So, when it came time to refresh the Model 26, not much was changed. The drivetrain saw improvements in efficiency thanks to VVT and the introduction of a 5 speed automatic, safety was boosted and the suspension was tweaked to boost load capacity and comfort. Otherwise it was kinda business as usual at the fleet end of the Bogliq dealer lot…

Having kept the costs down and the benefits up when updating the Model 26, there is no foreseeable reason that the American fleet buyers won’t continue to do business with their friendly local Bogliq dealer!

1995 - 2002 Model 27 (Nihilist)

After the grand reveal of the new, elegant, Model 27 in 1991, many wondered if the car was designed in-house or whether an outside studio was contracted to shape the Model 27’s svelte lines. The truth is that Australian design firm, Corvette6317 Design, were responsible for the overall shape and the details were finalised in-house. After the success of the first gen Model 27, Bogliq Design found out that the lead designer at Corvette6317 Design had released new spin on the original Model 27; A super slinky four door sedan! Needless to say Bogliq Design bought the rights to the four door adaptation and incorporated it into the Mk2 Model 27 development program…

(@Corvette6317: Please PM me if you have a RP name for your design house (like Pininfarina, Bertone etc.) or if you’d rather not be mentioned in my lore at all!)

Fixed, now all’s right with the world again! :sunglasses:

Bogliq Automotive USA is now officially closed.

Having established lore models strangles my creative process and I feel too invested in them to have fun.

Bogliq will still exist, but I want to wait until all the car bodies and fixtures are available before I start laying down company lore…
