I’m getting really stressed out because of this. I’m going to go play undertale.
Car characteristics do seem to give you a bit of leeway even with turbos. The winning car at Hockenheim had a 1.6 difficulty and I don’t think (?) had any trouble outside of the very last lap. So unless that was a statistical fluke, 1.6 difficulty would be OK four sprint races out of five. Still a gamble of course.
Guys, you don’t have to tune your car for ATT. Just because it’s fast there doesn’t mean it is also on Hockenheim and Green Hell.
If you are struggling and considering not entering, please read this
After quite a few hours of fiddling with different bodies, engines and setups for this challenge, I have been through quite a few of the pitfalls that are easy to hit. If anybody is struggling with their build and feeling frustrated, I’ll gladly take a look at your car and give you pointers in a direction that will get your car to the 2.15 mark at least. I may not be the very best at the game but I am happy to share what knowledge I have. Just send me a pm and we can find a good way to make it work together
Just wondering, has anyone else had trouble with @partario’s 70s Coupe Body? I used it for my H1000km car, however since the game updated it hasn’t been working properly and suffering from the ‘pink body’ problem.
However, thanks to @Xalpen (see here) I have found a fix, which is to go to the body.lua file and put speech marks (" ") around the ECS_BODY parts. The car now works properly, however the current Steam version isn’t working.
I haven’t been able to contact Partario on Steam as we aren’t friends on there to make him aware, however he alos hasn’t been online for 6 days. While I do have the updated and working file, I don’t want to share it with anyone until I can get his approval to do so, unless he chooses to update the mod.
I really want to use this body in the competition, and I reckon some other people may also want to, so would it be possible, @Der_Bayer, for you to update the file so me and anyone else who wants to can use it for their car, if we can’t get in contact with @partario?
How should I update his file on the workshop? You may fix the pink body issue and you are allowed to use that body. Anyone who wants to use it just has to fix the file.
I think the best way would be for me to update the body myself, to avoid any future issues. It needs slight other fixes as well in addition to the quotations in .lua files.
I’ll get it done by tomorrow.
@Der_Bayer and @partario, many thanks! You have my greatest gratitude.
I wasn’t asking for you to try and fix the file @Der_Bayer, didn’t mean for it to come across that way but hey
I’ve currently gotten 2 vehicles (1 isn’t a car) into the 2:15s around ATT with both on sport tires.
EDIT: after a few more tests with different bodies im at a 2:12.93 on sports, this may just be the body i put forwards.
The 70s coupe body is fixed now.
Thanks!
@Der_Bayer so that bug i’ve said yesterday. i now found 3.
1
2
it can only load once. i mean, once i load a car, the ‘select trim’ button just spazzes out the brctool.
it does go to the trim selection for a split second, but then revert back to the normal screen
3
if i open the brctool and load the car while i’m on either on the trim/engine/tab, it’s fine. but once i go to the other tab, like, opened the brctool on the engine tab, then switched to trim to see end results, this
edit: i should also say, i’ve always played fullscreen, i don’t know if that affects anything, but it may.
anybody else experiencing this? or just me? if it’s just me, then i’ll just have to wait for my new pc (hopefully early july)
1: Are all the cars in the folder from the most recent game build and finished? Still trying to track this down.
2: not a big problem. restart BRCTool.
3: I saw this happen when switching between Car and Engine Designer while the game was still testing a component. So: Wait until tests (spinning wheel) are finished. Did it occur in other circumstances, too? How reproducible?
1 yes. i think… i may have to try clearing all the cars first
i tried another car, and it appeared on the top of the list. no offset this time. i think i know what’s going on.
as you said, cars made in a slightly older version appears on the screen, but are not added to the ‘car_list_array’ or something in the background.
this explains why as i go down the trim list, the offsets becomes bigger. every time an older car appeared but not counted, the offset increases
2 and reopening the brctool every time is a minor annoyance, but it’s still tolerable. so roger that
3 oh yeah. i think it’s something to do with that. if it’s still loading and i move somewhere, blue screen. not when i move between tabs.
1: Alright, will take a look.
2: Yeah minor, I’d say. You’ll optimise one trim for a longer time anyway and (most of) you don’t try 20 trims anyway.
3: Yeah, that’s nothing I can fix so easily. Ok, I could stop updating the data when things are not there. We’ll see. So long just wait for the test to be finished
well 20 no. 10 trims? maybe, just maybe i’m not there yet though.
although i already do have a brick that ended a bit faster than a wedge.
what about reducing the data update time? i mean, slow down the update rate.
i imagine this problem persist more on slower computer since they tend to take longer to processing anything.
either way, thx
anyone here manage to get 2.5L or more V12 engine without overbudget?
yes
