Kimura Motor Co., Ltd. (木村技研工業) {RETIRED THREAD}

Dat’s a heavy sedan.

Then again it is a fully loaded V6 machine lol.

You got base specs?

Here are the SXi specifications.

OOC
It’s honestly not that quick with a manual, but to be fair it’ll probably be rated at under 8 seconds “corrected” in magazine tests if you know what I mean.

Helruna by Kimura. Proving that having fun in a car doesn’t have to be expensive.

The new for 2015 5th generation Kimura Helruna improves on the previous model with more power and a shorter wheelbase, allowing for a more compact frame and a livelier drive. There are 3 trims and 2 engines. The 2 “standard” trims, SXt and LXt, both come standard with a 1.8 Liter turbocharged inline-4. The KRS (Kimura Racing Sector) trim is outfitted with Magnetorheological dampers and a more powerful turbocharged 2.3 Liter inline-4. A 6-speed manual is standard whilst a 7-speed DCT is optional. The structure of the Helruna is made completely out of Aluminium and allows the Helruna to weigh under 2,900 lbs (1315 kgs). Double Wishbone suspension is used at all 4 wheels, leading to a smooth ride and sharp reflexes. A front-engined rear-wheel drive layout permits the Helruna to have a sporty demeanor but a new for 2014 Active Grip Control System, or AGCS for short, keeps the Helruna in check during hard cornering. AGCS is a system that works in conjunction with the traction control, so they are turned on and off simultaneously.

The Helruna isn’t all go and no show, however. The interior is lined with high-quality materials and an advanced infotainment system which incorporates an 8-inch touch screen which can also be controlled using a directional pad on the center console and can be used with Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™. Keyless entry is standard, as well as automatic windows and a hands-free communication system. Advanced safety features such as automatic braking, Lane Keep Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, and KimuraGuard™ are all available. Going around the exterior, the Helruna is stark and purposeful whilst retaining the beautiful flowing lines of a classic sports car. A long hood, short deck, and low, wide stance help contribute to the Helruna’s style and presence. Although the Helruna is a comfortable cruiser for long highway journeys, it really shows off it’s skills on the road.

Auburn by Kimura. A precise new breath of fresh air.

The 9th generation Kimura Auburn was unveiled in the 2012 Tokyo Motor Show for the 2013 model year and went into production in April of 2013. In the new Auburn are 3 engines; an efficient naturally aspirated 1.8 Liter Inline-4, a balanced turbocharged 1.6 Liter Inline-4, and a powerful 2.3 Liter turbocharged Inline-4. These 3 engines can be mated to a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DCT. 4-wheel independent suspension is standard on all trims. The hood, trunk, and doors of the Auburn are composed of Aluminium to save weight, giving better fuel economy whilst driving (up to 41 MPG highway). 4-wheel fully independent suspension helps the Auburn tackle corners with ease and poise. Despite the classic Kimura DNA, the new Auburn is still an extremely comfortable highway cruiser, with a balanced suspension setup which provides the best of both worlds of sportiness and comfort without compromise. In conclusion, the Auburn is a true all-rounder, providing thrills on the road without taking away luxurious comfort.

The Auburn was redesigned from the ground up in 2013 inside and out. An all-new Clear Sense™ infotainment system was introduced with the Auburn. A 6.5-inch touch screen which is standard while an 8 inch screen is optional, compatible with Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™. A sleek and cohesive interior is one of the priorities with the Auburn; metal-look accents are used across the entire interior along with stylish patterns and materials selected specifically for the new Kimura. A whole slew of advanced safety features such as automatic braking, Lane Keep Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, and KimuraGuard™ were also available. Going onto the exterior, graceful and curvaceous lines adorn the body of the Auburn, which exudes a premium, upscale look. Kimura’s signature Prismatic headlights are optionally fully LED. Available in a sedan, coupe, or hatchback form, the Auburn is sure to please any of your needs. Overall, the new Auburn is upgraded from the previous generation in every way; it is faster, more comfortable, lighter, better to drive, more economical, and the best Auburn ever made.

I’ve got to say, you’ve really made that body work. Quite the handsome looking car this is!

That is a proper looker… And it’s also a legitimate rival to my Zorg ZV2 1.6! I reckon that the Auburn could also compete with the Rennen Caelum. If I were to buy an Auburn, it would be a 1.6t manual sedan in Rogue Red Metallic.

K-UBRIK by Kimura. Style and substance in a minute package.

The 2nd generation of Kimura’s Kei car, the K-UBRIK, debuted alongside the 2013 Kimura Auburn at the Tokyo Motor Show for the 2014 model year. You can get the small car with a choice of 2 engines, drivetrains, and transmissions. A N/A and turbocharged 659 cc Inline-4 with VVT and VVL are available with either FWD or 4WD and a 7-Speed DCT or 6-speed manual. 4 wheel independent suspension is standard on all models for comfortable cruising along with partially aluminium panels to let the already lightweight K-UBRIK shed a few more kilos. Even with a tall roof, the K-UBRIK remains steady through tight corners, with a very tight turning circle and stiff anti-roll bars preventing excessive body roll. Even with a short wheelbase, the K-UBRIK is still capable of staying planted at high speeds thanks to months of meticulous suspension tuning.

As a departure from the previous, more adventure-focused K-UBRIK, the new car has a more practical 5-door hatchback package as opposed to a 3-door. Along with the Auburn, the all-new Clear Sense™ infotainment system was introduced. A 6.5-inch touch screen which is standard on all trims, compatible with Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™. The main theme with the K-UBRIK was “geometrically cute.” Thus, multiple shapes and textures were used through the cabin, with up to 5 different accent colors including red, white, grey, blue, and black available. Despite it’s small size, many advanced safety features such as automatic braking, Lane Keep Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, and KimuraGuard™ are available. The exterior continues the cutesy theme with a blocky design that’s lovable yet sophisticated. With nearly 1000 color combinations, you can truly personalize your own K-UBRIK just the way you like it. You can change the side accent colors, roof and mirror colors, wheels, base car colors, grille colors, and even more to make your K-UBRIK, well, yours. Prismatic headlights continue to be present in the K-UBRIK, with a full LED setup available. The K-UBRIK oozes style, but manages to stay sophisticated. It’s charming, yet pragmatic. It truly is the definitive Kimura Kei car.

So pro the presentation.

I still find it amusing that DCT is on offer in a K car with a 0-100 of 16s, same with the AWD. But hey, apparently in Australia, the best selling FK8 Civic trim by a long margin is the fake RS version which charges you a good 5000 bucks for some black shiny bits, a fake lip, fake wing, a fake badge and fake leather seats so :joy:

Hey, if the car is popular enough, it might even be shipped across seas with a larger engine and upgraded interior

Auburn by Kimura. The ultimate definition of a compact car.

Hatchback LCt 1.8t trim shown in Smoky Quartz Metallic.

At the 2017 International Motor Show Germany, Kimura debuted the 10th generation Kimura Auburn for the 2018 model year. The second Kimura based on the CM-T (Compact Modifiable - Transverse) Global platform (the first being the 7th generation Auriga, debuting earlier in 2017), the Auburn comes with a new level of comfort, sophistication, and poise. This means front strut-type suspension and rear multilink suspension for extra grip at the limit and more supple, more comfortable highway drives. In addition, the new high-strength steel chassis is 25% stiffer than the previous model, creating a more solid driving dynamic. Retuned 4-wheel independent suspension has been further refined to make the Auburn handle with more precision, with a tighter turning circle and lower rotations lock-to-lock on the steering wheel. With the latest in aluminium technology, the Auburn’s panels are crafted completely from aluminum, leading to a lighter, more efficient Auburn. 4 engines are available; a naturally aspirated 1.8 Liter Inline-4, and 2 turbo engines; 1.6 and 1.8 Liter powerplants, ranging from 168 to 182 horsepower, respectively. These 3 engines, produced from previous designs, can be mated to a 6-speed manual or an 8-speed automatic. A 1.0 Liter 3-cylinder turbo petrol, 1.8 Liter turbodiesel, and 2.0 Liter 4-cylinder turbodiesel engines will release later in 2018 for European markets. Taking every lesson learned from 10 generations of experience, the Auburn is the best that it could be.

Coupe LCt 1.8t trim shown in San Francisco Blue Metallic.

An extensive redesign was made for the latest Auburn. Now with the same innovative center console found in the Auriga, the Auburn comes with a standard 8.5” touch screen with a 10” unit optional. In addition, another evolution of infotainment comes with the Auburn; ClearSense²™ which again is compatible with Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™. Automatic braking, Lane Keep Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind Spot Monitoring, Pedestrian Detection Systems, and KimuraGuard™ are also available. Overall, the design is more upscale than before, with richer materials used along the entire cabin. With an all-new HUD, flowing and luxurious design, and ergonomically designed to fit anyone’s driving needs, the Auburn’s interior gives way to all new Kimura’s of the future. With distinctive, modern styling, the Auburn emits a classy yet groundbreaking design. Revolutionary yet evolutionary, it remains a memorable and familiar design while staying timeless. The newest form of the Prismatic headlights return, with a more contemporary take on a well-known idea. The Auburn again is available in 3 classic body styles; a practical 5-Door hatchback, a stylish 2-door coupe, and a well-rounded 4-door saloon. With every meticulous change made to a proven formula comes out a car which has been tediously crafted to be as perfect as possible.

Certainly the previous Auburn seemed like a tough act to follow, but this latest model is a fitting replacement for the old model. Choosing a trim is even tougher now, though, such is the inherent quality of the basic design. However, if I had the chance, I would order a 1.8t LCt manual coupe in Inferno Orange with Siesta Beige leather seats, plus the Advanced Safety Package, Bose stereo, LED lights, etc… Basically all the options except for the slushbox.

One more question remains: will there be a hot hatch version of the latest Auburn?

1988 4M-Sport Concept by Kimura. The next-generation sports machine.

The Kimura 4M-Sport Concept was a concept car devised by Kimura in 1988. With the latest turbocharged inline-4 engine to be used in the Helruna, the 4M-Sport concept was very quick for it’s time. It had an Mid-engined AWD powertrain mated to a 6-speed manual, and in total weighed under 2400 lbs (1088 kg). With a total output of 240 HP and 206 lb-ft from it’s 2.3L I4, the 4M was able to propel from 0 to 62 MPH in 5.2 seconds. Styling was esoteric yet elegant, with futuristic and sleek properties that made the 4M truly unique.

It looks very futuristic for something launched on 1988, and reminds me of the Nissan Mid-4 concepts of the era. But did it enter production, and if not, why? At any rate it would have played a significant role in Kimura’s development of AWD drivetrains.

To answer your question on the Auburn, a high-performance model is planned.

As for the 4M-Sport, it didn’t enter production due to a lack of market. While it was fully developed and entered a prototype stage, the costs to build were deemed too high for the expected demand and price.

Kimura would like to wish everyone a very spooky Halloween.

It’s!

Is this a hatchback version of the Auburn (which I feel deserves to be remade in UE4, if it hasn’t been already), or a completely new model from Kimura?

Edit: So it is the UE4 rendition of the Auburn, and I expect the trim being shown to be a higher-performance model compared to what has been shown previously.

It’s the Auburn, and the photo was made in UE4.
