Known problems in Automation & how to fix them

In the same spirit as the Having a problem? thread, here are some fairly common problems in Automation and how to solve them.

If the problem is not listed here, remember to use the search function and in case you decide to post your problem, follow these guidelines.

THERE ARE MISSING FILES/MY GAME WON’T START/REBEL MODS THAT WON’T GO AWAY

The first thing to do (actually it can solve a lot of issues) is go to steam, right click automation > local files > verify integrity of game cache.

If you have missing mods, or a mod that resist to go even after unsuscribe, make sure to unsuscribe in steam, then go to the game folder (Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Automation), and delete everything inside GameData (except the CAMSO folder) and click verify integrity of game cache. That should make Steam to re-download only the subscribed mods properly.

DIRECTX DIRECT3D COULD NOT BE FOUND

You can either download and install it yourself here: http://www.microsoft.com/en-nz/download/details.aspx?id=8109

Or Right click Automation in Steam, Properties. Local Files, Browse Local Files. _CommonRedist, DirectX, Jun2010 and run DXSETUP.exe

UNABLE TO CREATE USER DIRECTORIES

The Solution is to Right Click → Properties on Documents\My Games folder. Security Tab → Edit… → Add… Enter “Everyone” (without quotes) in the Object names to select area. Click OK. Then check on Allow for all Permissions for “Everyone”… Or to set the saving path into another folder. (E.g. C :Games)

PINK BODIES

If you select a car, but it has a pink body, you need to go to the game folder. Inside steam, right click Automation > properties > local files> browse local files, or go directly to > Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Automation\

Inside Game data, you need to search the folder of body is causing you problems, use the search function to find it easier. There, open the LUA file with notepad or notepad++ and search the list of materials, it goes something like this:

"ECS_BODY"
"ECS_CHROME"

Make sure every element in the list is between quotation marks (as above) and save the file.

MY CARS AND ENGINE DISSAPEAR AFTER I RESTART THE GAME

It might be a saving path issue. Start automation and in the launcher click options and make sure the saving path is actually were automation is saving your cars. The default is documents/mygames/automation

I DID A CAR, AND NOW I CAN’T OPEN IT AGAIN!

The first thing to do is inside documents/mygames/automation delete the next folders: engineering, factories and production and re-start the game. If that doesn’t help, try renaming the automation folder (something like automation_backup or something) and re-start the game. This should force the game to create a new folder. If the game re-starts properly and you can work in new cars, most likely the car you can’t open will be corrupted, sorry.

FATAL ERROR LOADING INIT – THE GOGGLES

Same as the car that doesn’t open, just rename the automation folder in my documents, to force the game to create a new folder. Also try to verify game cache.

THE TEST TRACK CRASHES!/CAR TOO SLOW

Before posting the bug, make sure your car is well designed, not too thin tires, not crazy aero, too little power, really long gearing, ridiculously cooling or drag… stuff like that. Puting a 1500kg car with 6hp to run might create problems.

##UI AND GRAPHICAL BUGS
Since the devs are moving to the unreal engine, most likely that will be addressed with the new engine, since there is not much point of re-doing the assets or the UI, unless is quite obvious or game breaking.

ENGINE PLACEMENT BUG

For some reason, you can put long L6 in AWD, but not in RWD in some bodies, the same with V6s, where sometimes even a larger engine will fit, but not a V6. All of these are known bugs, and it has to do with the drivetrain placement.

WILL MY GIRLFRIEND EVER COME BACK?

Sorry lad, but that’s out of the scope of the game (as well as hybrids and rotary engines).

On Steam i am asamikorkmaz

Sorry to hear that. So your problem is that the most recent mods don’t appear in-game after subscribing?

EDIT: Here → Workshop mods issues an automation-brother had the same issue, it was solved doing this:

I tried it before and yesterday it did not work, should i wait fo the next update?

Some users have reported audio issues and I (well, I am using the standalone edition, I don’t know how it can be done on steam) vaguely remember reading that it’s a W10 issue and using compatibility settings for W8 or 7 would fix it. It did for me. ¯ \ _ (ツ)_ /¯Just saying

I have also tried the same approach as the user who had the same problem as me but did not see the mods. So in my case the problem cannot be solved simply by verifying the integrity of the game’s cache.

Edit: I had subscribed to the mods which were missing, but after restarting Steam and verifying the cache, nothing happened. That said, I will give it at least one more attempt.

@abg7 Did you delete everything in Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Automation first? Dont forget to re-start steam, verify you are suscribed and then verify cache.
