MEN Klassisch, 1260X and 1260x Polski

The 1972 MEN 1260X, a standard utilitarian Vehicle in Communist Poland. Designed to provide working class farmers and workers with simple transport and a bed for hauling items, a car that could be used for personal transportation and work alike. With a 880cc 3 cyllinder pushrod engine, and an astonishing 27Hp. A 3 speed manual transmission, and Rear wheel drive. Quite tragically slow, but it was all the average Polish worker could ask for. That was, until Polish Street Racers began to harass shipping convoys, both stealing goods and causing drivers to crash their valuable MENs.

The company soon turned to CMW For a Solution, who took the 1260X and tuned it up, fitting it with a 2.2L B12 4Cyllinder, a 4 speed manual transmission, and various other upgrades. The result was the 1260X Polski.

You might be thinking, this performance version looks exactly like the standard 1260X, and it does, which was the entire idea. MEN wanted a vehicle that looked like an Ordinary 1260X, but was capable of outrunning the pesky Polish street racers while flying under the radar lookswise. The 1260X Polski had 143 Horsepower, and got from 0-60 in under 8 Seconds, making it more than capable. The Communist Polish government subsidized the trucks, making them more affordable, however, when the trucks eventually started to break, almost no Polish workers could afford the maintenance of the advanced western parts, and very few running examples remain today. Estimates have been made of somewhere between 2700-5000 Running examples still in existence.
