I agree, the current worldwide demand for electricity could not be produced by renewables alone so nuclear is the only other option with current science. If we ever crack cold fusion then that changes everything.
As for Chernobyl, I tend to live by the motto
Never put down to malice what can easily be attributed to stupidity
i know about 3 mile island. that was, again, poor protocol. same with Sellafield in the UK. stupidity and a disregard for safety (read: people) are the main issue with Nuclear
While that is indeed a valid phrase for a lot of situationsā¦ in this case, I thought of it as an economically driven action, rather than malice. As you knowā¦ money rules the world.
