So you want a sporty, practical and affordable entry-level coupe? You may be tempted by a 1987 Saito SA2 Turbo. Its 2.0-liter turbocharged straight-six develops 154 bhp on regular fuel and spools up early enough to return surprisingly good economy.

With double-wishbone suspension at each corner, high-performance tires and 15-inch alloy wheels, the SA2 has a reputation for excellent handling. A close-ratio five-speed manual gearbox and mechanical limited-slip diff ensure easy, rapid launches in most situations.

Even with a tape deck, advanced safety, power steering and anti-lock brakes as standard equipment, the SA2 Turbo retailed for $14880 with a 20% markup. Now that’s value for money!

I’m proud to present the ‘97 Marcos GT. It’s a lightweight sport coupè.
Powered by a refined 2.6 straight six engine, good for 210hp @6800rpm and 250Nm @4000rpm, this engine combine great hp and tq figures with low consumption thanks to the high Compression Ratio (10.8:1) and an extremely efficency fuel ignition. It’s olso a great base for tuning thanks to the high reliability.
The light and sleek body allow great performance with a top speed of 250km/h (155mph) and a 0-100km/h covered in 5,8s.
Driving pleasure and cornering performace are extremely important for us, so the car it’ equipped with fully indipendent Double Wishbone suspensions and semi active Sway bars, combined with ventilated brakes and 17" alloy rims.
The car come standard with Power Steering, ABS and TC.
Price with 20% markup: 14520$

The Maesima Exestis was launched in 1996 as the NR until 2001 when became the Exestis. It was based on the front wheel drive chassis from the midsize NV-993 sedan the predecessor to the Avellca

However, the sporty European style body was too compact to fit the companies MCG or MCO series inline 4 and the new all alloy inline four cylinder under development was still a few years off and none of the licensed foreign engines would fit either.

So the company opted to use the newly developed MCF series V6 created for the full-size RWD luxury sedan the NL-992 that entered western markets in 1992. It was a reduced bore and stroke to a 2.2L.

The first generations NR was offered only in two trims in most markets. The Touring entry level trim with a detuned version of the 2.2L MCF engine without VVT while the top spec Sports Touring trim had a more powerful version with alloy wheels, airbags, retuned suspension.

Now kick it!

It was an immediate success for Maesima and certainly helped establish the company in Western Markets. Until the arrival of the NV-998/Prova, the NR was the companies only sporty yet practical and affordable designs for the everyman.

It’s 1996 lineup consisted of the luxury RWD NL-992 sedan, the newly introduced NRZ-996 RWD sports car, and the NV-993 FWD midsize sedan and the joint venture NV-X compact.

The NR was seen as a way to use the NV-993 chassis and suspension components to produces an affordable design to appeal to the sports car craze. As the NRZ-996 marketed towards the higher end and still out of price range for most people.

During this period Maesima while still technically under the state control was growing more confident and the company was flush with foreign investment and riding the wave of an economic growth.

Got a need…for speed

In later years the Exestis would introduce high-performance AWD versions the V6 engine was replaced by a wide range of advanced yet economical four-cylinder engine options. The design along with the NRZ-996 would receive a major facelift in 2004 to comply with the new laws regarding pop-up headlights.

The NR/Exestis principal competitors were vehicles like the Saminda CZ2 (1991-2000), Saminda CZ2 (2000-2006) and Dimension Singularity.

About my entry: Montes Urban MK3 2.0. No more to say!

@Dorifto_Dorito Well, the first three gif I just had to modify by animating my car into them. While the final one. I created completely from scratch.

@4LGE Haha thanks, man! But that Taore RAY looks sweet!

@szafirowy01 Damn that’s some high praise! I’m not sure I can match the skills of some of the other members around here. But I try my best.

@strop Hehe…this has been the realise of an idea I’ve had for a while.

I was actually planning to present something a little grander but along these lines for the @DeusExMackia’s Detroit Autoshow but I ran into some a few issues but mostly out of time. Anyway, I’d be very interested to hear what you have in mind!

Last post derailing this thread, sorry lordvader, anyway, I plan to just open a thread where all I do is Photoshopping and nothing else just for practice as my company is basically on hiatus and UE is some time away.

I don’t know about the others, but for me it’s not only about photoshop skills. Car design, idea for the photoshops (or gifs - genius), the writing, story, details and all this stuff - it’s all at a very high level in your case.

@vmo @one85db @jonthefuzz@Rk38@Sillyducky@HighOctaneLove @Corvette6317@gridghost@TR8R@abg7 @MarcoAlla @4LGE

Results are here

now lets pick the top 3 and judge their looks

one85db

the color is brown and ugly
rear end has no tail lights which makes it, so there’s a issue with being street legal
the front end is plain and simple

good thing we can say
ahs steel chassis - stiffer chassis
partial alu body panels - less rust
its AWD - unlimited traction !!!
lsd diff
3.8 liter v8 engine. the sound is killer

bad stuff
zero driver aids - not even power steering
engine is undercooled
not even a basic undertray - which hurts economy
its has basic seats, 5 seats but not very good seats
the last bad thing
its a hatchback- i can very little space in the boot

##vmo

oh god another hatchback. anyway what can we say about it. this car is understatement. its a GTI car but a RWD one. it has enough power,a wolf in sheep’s clothing

besides simple looks and understatement what does it offer?
good stuff:
corrosion resistant steel chassis and panels - less rust less problems
double wishbone suspension - means good handling
manual 6 speed with lsd diff
good fuel economy

bad stuff:
boot space is small and tight due to the suspension and rwd setup
not even a basic undertray
its a hatchback
is needs 95 octane fuel but good about it is only needs 7 liter of it

##MarcoAlla

here we have a newcomer who did good at the first try, except export i had to teach him how to export a car
the looks are very good i like the black indicators.
the color is gray and dull

the engine is a 2.5 liter inline 6, its very smooth. it makes 210 horsepower and 250nm torque mid range

what can we say about this car
good stuff:
it uses a galvanized steel chassis to protect it from rust
double wishbone suspension front and rear - means good handling
the body panels are made from partial alu - means less weight less rust
engine internals are ready to be turbocharged - forged pistons and i beam steel conrods
loud engine - only using one loud muffler its the perfect thing to wake up neighbors
its a proper coupe
has boot space - can fit dead people

bad thing:
no vvt
95 octane fuel required
no lsd diff
brakes slightly fade -0.1 %
no undertray
the colour could have been better

Basically, I focused too much on economy, and forgot about everything else. Still, making a car that would fit the design brief and stay under budget for this challenge was a worthwhile endeavor for me. On current evidence, though, @vmo is most likely to be the winner… At least I used the 2-door coupe version of the body he used, instead of the 3-door hatchback.

Ohh my, the RAY made an average! Perfect!

Though, might you still make a bonus on the car you found to be the best looking of them all?

Actually

Where’s the price?
