Spider Circuit

Nestled on the county line between the City of Richmond and Henrico County, Virginia rests Westhampton Lake. The surrounding 350 acres is home to the University of Richmond whose campus roads create the Spider Circuit.

The Spider Circuit starts and finishes at Tyler Haynes Commons with the start-finish line being the pedestrian foot bridge. From there it’s an immediate dash into some tight S-curves on the way down to the bridge over the creek. Once past the creek it’s a long and curving uphill assault to North Court Hall where a long sweeping left hander rolls past the Greek Ampitheater. The track then exits the internal portion of campus through some off-camber corners to get to College Road. The fastest speeds can be expected here on the shute past the lake. Some banked corners slow things down a bit as cars approach the home of the Spiders – The Robins Center and E. Clairborne Robins Stadium. As the cars barrel past the stadium there’s another steep hill before a 90-degree left points you towards the city and across the Stadium’s north endzone. Another set of hard 90-degree right-handers make a defacto hairpin to bring the cars back into campus between the Law School and Stadium. From there it’s a downhill shot towards the lake past the academic halls, dean’s office, and dorms. As the cars hurtle towards the lake, one last sweeping downhill left-hander brings the cars onto the front stretch once more with Boatwright Hill providing an excellent vantage point for spectators with the lake providing a picturesque backdrop.

This is a fictional circuit using actual roads that traverse the University of Richmond. The University of Richmond and any names mentioned are not affiliated with this track creation.
