Super GT Challenge

Time for a challenge. This is the Super GT Challenge. Super GT’s are affordable sports/super cars that can win races with little to no modification but still leave your insurance rates low (or lower compared to buying a Bugatti or Ferrari or McLaren or Koenigsegg). Voting begins on Tuesday, December 19 at 12:00 pm and end Wednesday, Dec 20 at 12:00 pm (all mountain time). Winner will be determined by vote. EDIT:

@CNCharger I would recommend reading what @KLinardo told you too. When I was a 12 year old noob I created a challenge where I basically said “make a stunt car” and that was it. I definitely had to read that.

Sigh… did not we already talk about this?

must be after 2016
so it’s 2020 everybody will take it for the best tech available

You are allowed up to 4 trims
Why? What is the added bonus of having 4 trims?

Must be below $200K with 60% markup or if you can’t do that, offer a monthly pay system that will take no longer than 5 years to pay off with a limit of 350K with 60% mark up.

  • So it’s 350k, not 200k cause "Screw that 200k limit, when all i gotta say is “pay me forever” and I can use 350k.

-Base trim Engines must be above 500 BHP and Below 1300 BHP, the other engines must be no more than 3500 BHP
Oh…kaaaay. If you’re pretty much unlimiting the racing engine, why imply any power rules at all?

Cars must be 35+ drivable
HAHAHAHA IN YOUR DREAMS, you’ve just requested 1300hp base engines.

No race exhaust
Meaning what exactly? No racing exhaust manifold? Or does this mean I can not de-cat straight pipe?

No fuel better than premium, but has to be atleast regular quality
Why is this rule here? As if somebody will decide “I won’t go with premium, having a worse fuel is a better choice for my car”.

Sports seats or better
Which is better than sports? I find basic to be better than sports for racing cars, can I go with basic?

Cars must be below 4000 lbs (I find this hard with even the hyper cars I make).
I’m cool with the weight cap, but I can probably drain about 700 kilos of your hypercars. You should examine other people’s cars on how to make them lighter

Must have headlamps, turn signals, vents and (base trim is the only one with the next requirement) enough airflow to be practicle
Airflow and practicality have nothing in common. I suggest you start learning the game you’re hosting competitions in

Must be faster than 190
Ok, my car has topped out at 0.2kph. I’m glad I’ve achieved the minimum required 190 meters per hour. I’m sure you got the idea on where you went wrong

Must be appealing in atleast 2 markets
TOTALLY appealing, my car scores 3 in supercar class in Arcana and 12 in Fruinia. DONE AND DONE!

Submissions start today, right now and end Monday, December 19th
4 days for a build, that’s enough time to come up with something good, right?

Submit a front, back, and side image of the car with the overview, design, and test track slides
I can only take pictures in 320x240, will that be enough quality?

3 extra images when you post (race your car first on the automation track, or Nurburing (green hell) track for an extra trim named Nurburing (it must race at green hell first)
So which track should be first even?! Ah, I dont’ care, I’ll just photoshop the track times anyway! I’m pretty sure about this win!

Oh, and @CNCharger you should really finish the other challenge you are “hosting” before you try to run another one.

See, you get a reputation around here based on your past challenges. You’ll get a much more welcoming response if you establish some kind of track record before we decide to build a car for your challenge.

The current consensus of your challenges (and posting in general) is that you’re uninformed about how intensive hosting a challenge is. You clearly don’t have much experience with how the game works and what to look for in a good car. You write incoherent rule sets. Finally, it seems like you’re not interested in judging any competitors since you’ve twice now let the judging fall to others.

Long story short: your challenges aren’t appealing. You would be better served thumbing through the car sharing/magazine reviews threads and searching through what has already been built.

From what I was reading of your other (rather unfortunate) challenge thread that you made recently, this really looks like a more refined and improved challenge in comparison! But also got to agree with @squidhead on the flaws and loopholes here.

I get that you wanted to make things somewhat realistic and within reasonable limits, but the way community challenges work here is with people usually making a dedicated setup that is in many approaches tailored to the ruleset of a given challenge. If there are intentional or unintentional loopholes, they might be used. If a rule is confusing or vague, mistakes or violations are inbound.

As squidhead already cited on the budget, if you offer a maximum budget of either 200k with 60% markup paid at once, or a 5 year financing scheme summing up to 350k with 60% markup, then people would likely go for the 5 year financing scheme just to get the higher budget margin to build their car. This is a loophole.
If there were bonus points for NOT going with the monthly payment scheme, you should’ve made that clear, or else the upfront maximum 200k@ 60% markup is pointless.

But everyone, this would actually be workable. And there even are some interesting limitations (e.g. the otherwise for this price range very popular carbon fiber being ruled out). The concept of having everyone choose their favorite submission has also been used in some other challenges here, with the crowd favourite in the DBR and as emergency option in the CSR, but I haven’t seen a recent dedicated “Community’s Choice” challenge yet. I guess that’d be because it would rather belong into the car reviews section, and it might not be all engaging to make it akin to the CSR, not for the round hosts, as they’d basically just set the rules and make the polls, nor the community, as there’s possibly not much to read except for entrants posting their car adverts. One would then really be better off to seep through the car design sharing section, where the selection also wouldn’t be biased to some ruleset common to challenges. It could work through nominations, though! Like a… Challenge Car of the Month?

@CNCharger, keep improving! It might help if you look at your challenge from an entrant’s point of view.
What would be your incentive for entering? And don’t say ‘because it is my challenge!’, but rather ask ‘what makes it interesting to enter a car here?’. In example of the Car Shopping Round, it would be to get reviews and comparisons to other entries, and the premise of hosting the next round when your car was the most compelling
Also, would you be able to design a good looking hypercar that is competitive within the rules for this challenge in just 4 days? If you have quite some spare time and creativity to do that, good! Not everyone has that, so feel yourself lucky. To me, 7 days sound much more appropriate

But well, I’m usually not keen on participating in another ‘make a Gubatti Reyvon’ challenge, and the only appeal here for me would be in building a car that is not made of carbon fiber, yet still is stupidly expensive using sports interior

NO VANS! @squidhead, this is a challenge! No racing exhaust pipe, Anything below sports quality is NOT ALLOWED. 190 mph…MPH, come on, You got that wrong. I measure everything in US CUSTOMARY! I can come up with something in just 30 min that can go 360+ miles per hour. I don’t care about quality, as long as it can be seen clearly. If not, then send the car to someone you trust through a pm. And Squidhead, you are Disqualified for the use of Photoshop.
@KLinardo , this one is public judged. NO BIAS from me, and no judge to refer to cause this aint a one on one, this is a showcase challenge. Thanks @4LGE , and the car I have is well below 200K (its at almost 75K), but it makes it harder for your car to appeal in the markets when its that high! My car is ready and it Follows this completely! Oh, and thanks to squidhead, only one trim! My car is also 36 drivable with almost 1200 BHP from a 662 CI V8 engine.

it’s one thing to make a challenge that is so goddamn riddled with holes in the first place, but it’s really not a good thing to go off when someone very explicitly shows you the holes in the challenge, rather than actually going and adressing them.

and publicly judged? that just sounds like it’s a car show, NOT a challenge. you can have a pictures only challenge, but this is not the kind of challenge for pictures only.

and don’t flatter y’rself with the 36 drivability form 1200hp from gelatinous lump of a motor.

try getting 45 Drivability, 67 comfort and 1000hp from a V6. and even that is eminently doable by most of us here.

take this advice: hold off the challenges until you actually have even a morsel/semblance of understanding of how these things work.

So now you’re changing rules several posts down and disqualifying users all in one swoop?

Did you read anything I had to say? Did you read strop’s post that I linked? Do you care to even seem like you want to be accepted here?

And, I will tell you straight, this kind of behavior will get you ostracized. That’s all that seems worth saying at this juncture.

What if he uses Paint.net? Or GIMP? Or Inkscape? Or DrawPlus? Or Microsoft Paint?

I urge you, please, to take criticism sensibly. Respond to it rather than rebuking those who say it, otherwise you will, as @KLinardo says, end up ostracizing yourself. It may be quite harsh in some places, but it is constructive. It’s there to help you. Please make some use of it.

You think its fair for someone to photoshop to victory? I’m hosting the challenge, I let the judge for the Muscle car challenge use his car in the challenge. Would you want a car that the creator lied about? In the real world, that gets you a boatload of complaints, secret federal inspections, Government Forced Shutdown, Lawsuits, Loss of Trust, we are in a world where Capitalism is under attack, and when people lie about what they are selling, they further endanger it. We already have a Socialist government here in the US, what do you think income tax is? Honesty, good business ethics, and staying ahead of the competition with innovation creates jobs like free enterprise and entreprenuership will.
@DeusExMackia, Photoshop, the term for editing a photo that was already created, whether by camera, screen capture or from scratch using software like paint. He is disqualified for editing a photo, not using Adobe Photoshop. You can use Adobe Photoshop or Microsoft Paint with printscreen, but you may not edit the photo of the car. Ok, @squidhead, you are no longer disqualified, but your car must be exported to the forums (I’ll export mine aswell).

I.don’t think squidhead has any actual interest in entering, nor does anyone else, okay?

Like everyone else has said TAKE THE CRITICISM, NOT AVOID IT!
