8-Track Tape 1966 [Reviews]

Could you reveal what was important in this competition? Because the results show that I clearly misunderstood the purpose of it.

I think it’s only fair I post a picture of my car.

I’ll reveal the full formula after the reviews.

But for starters:
Drivability, Comfort, and Safety had a higher weighting.
Praticaclity, Utility, and Reliability had an above average weight.
Prestige, Sportiness, and Off-road had an average weight.

Economy was weighted negatively at 10000 miles / year @ fuel cost
Total Cost and Service cost were formulated negatively with a below average weight

Im actually really happy that i got 8th!
i thought the Orion was gonna end up at like 12th or lower.

Great Challenge! hope you do more in the future.

Hmm not bad at all. My results are steadily climbing thanks to… My reducing power in favour of drivability sobs

Now I just need to up my comfort and safety balance more and I’ll be producing solid family cars like the best of them

looks all around ME?! You havent even SEEN my car yet :stuck_out_tongue: You have NO idea how far you have to fall HP wise to get on my level! ROFLOL!!

You won the Most Anaemic, Smallest engine award, so on that thought, I don’t know if I’ll ever get there shivers :stuck_out_tongue:

I had 57.3HP out of my little 1399cc OHV engine :stuck_out_tongue: I still cant fathom how my car is not the slowest on the 1/4 mile, there was NOT much room left until 20 seconds. It took quite a bit of transmission fiddling to get it under 20 though…

Slowest 1/4 mile was 19.98 seconds.

WOW! That was cutting it close! I was at one point that clicking one of the ratio buttons would add over a second to that time, I ended up needing a slightly bigger engine to get a bit more power or I would never have broken 20.

Also would like to say this challenge has been awesome, cant wait for the next!!

No complaints here  I was thinking of a sports/luxury sedan when I made this car and even though it was the most expensive, the car was worth the extra initial outlay (IMO)!

Congrats to the top 5 and I’ll be making sure to enter your next comp, Lordred :sunglasses:

Next time, I will put on door handles if you keep the price of a gallon of gas constant

Heh, that’s about where I expected to stand after I saw the averages. After all, it was a “sedan” with near-muscle car power. And an absolute thirst for fuel. Not typical Ardent.

I think you and I may have had a philosophical swap and forgot to tell each other. The Marathon was one of the biggest, most powerful engines. And I’m guessing rather on the squirrely side.

Strop you gotta focus on making sports cars. It’s what you are meant to do.

6th place =) not bad for being my first entry xd and i give it all to my accidentally offroad score of 31. I would probably have done better if i had a better mpg than my 19MPG…
buy the way…how did i get 6th place with 19mpg when the average was 25??? xp

On occasion I feel compelled to branch out and dabble in other markets… and even possibly do it well. I don’t want to be just a one trick pony!

But the need for POWAAAAAA does always stymie my efforts a little. And even if it isn’t power, I do tend to tune my cars to go fast…

Why that? Gas isnt constant in the real world, you always pay different prices for different grades of fuel.

Reviews go up tonight after I get off work.

You gotta work on a Sunday? Holiday weekend no less? :frowning:

There are a lot of operations that are 24/7/365. I work in such an industry.

(Except for food service, the vast bulk of us either get at LEAST time and a half, and it’s not uncommon to get PTO concessions either. Last place I worked if you worked a holiday you got double and a half, plus 8 hours of PTO to use later)

But I digress.
