2006 Hexe Magdalena Mark V

The 2006 Hexe Magdalena Mark V pushes boundaries with its 1.6L turbocharged 3-cylinder engine, engineered for both performance and efficiency. Designed to meet strict emissions standards, it achieves an impressive 5.6L/100 km fuel consumption while fully complying with WES 11 regulations.

Despite its eco-conscious engineering, the Mark V is the fastest Magdalena yet, boasting a 0-100 km/h time of just 5.4 seconds and a top speed of 290 km/h. A perfect balance of power and responsibility, the Mark V proves that efficiency doesn’t mean sacrificing speed.

The 2005 ZY50 Zedas EX-S

After the successes of Planar’s ZY20 series Zeydra, there was a feeling of optimism in the company that the next generation Zeydra would join its Danazine sibling in furthering the company’s successes after a rather rough patch, however as the Danazine project lagged further and further behind, it dragged the Zeydra down with it, resulting in the ZY30 series merely being an update to the ZY20.

Then, finally, in 1998 (a whole 19 years after the ZY20’s debut) the ZY40 arrived, which was by all measures a success thanks to the revival Planar was having from the complete refresh of its range. There was a problem, however, the Zeydra’s star was fading, along with larger sports coupes in general.

Finally we get to the ZY50, a 2005 total refresh of the ZY40 that’s rather unashamedly a 1998 car dragged into the 21st century, but one that was hoped would refresh customer interest and hold off cancellation of them model until its replacement, which was pushed back to 2010 thanks to the Zeydra’s lower priority due to its lower sales.

Heavily updated to more closely resemble the 2005 ZD50 Zedas and Planar’s new clarity II design language, the ZY50 introduced some very modern touches to the Zeydra, such as LED lighting front and rear, and more advanced audio equipment.

Power from the ground-up redesigned RX521 engine from Rotomax was up to 313kW, still only going through the rear wheels, but the car was more than capable of handling its power. The suspension, meanwhile, was still Planar’s signature hydropneumatic suspension, now up to PASSe.2, with more advanced computer control than ever.

Unfortunately, the ZY50 alone wasn’t enough to save the Zeydra’s ailing sales, and with the financial crisis hitting in 2008 it was cancelled, with an update due for that year that would bring Halvson’s well renowned new PATH 5 cylinder engines to the Zeydra canned, and the release of the ZY60 up in the air, it seemed that was it for Planar’s venerable coupe.

Happily, the ZY60 would release as intended in 2010, but it would become a more expensive GT, not the higher-end performance coupe that it had traditionally been, meaning the ZY50 could be considered the last “true” Zeydra.

@Isabella Hexe Magdalena: 83/105 points
The light sport car from Hexe’s 2000 line up, Magdalena, leaves a lot to be desired, design wise the identity is well kept but feels uninspired in other means, lacks vents and the “pezaz” of the other 2006 cars. engineering wise, it’s great, although the I3 equipped sounds hopeless, it’s reliable and responsive. 30/39

@Kreator ACZ Badger: 70/105 points
The Badger found some identity again, getting inspired by it’s 60s model. Design is ok, the rear looks a bit weird but serves it’s purpose. Engineering wise, It’s also fine, it has a big V8 manual RWD muscle. nothing special. 30/39

@xsneakyxsimx Maunderer GT: 46/105 points
no 2000s submission

@Gr1tty_CoviD Lobo: 76/105 points
Lobo has been pretty consistent in it’s design and that’s a good thing, now with an even more aggressive look it’s all coming together, a solid submission, Just a bit unreliable. 34/39

@abg7 AMS Antares 65/105 points
The Antares finally matches it’s design time, just getting minor updates to it’s look, and being extremely expensive at 160k Automation currency, it brings an enigma that is this meant to be a no nonsense sports car or a luxury cruiser, matching RWD and manual transmission with a luxury interior feels out of place for the purpose of it. 30/39

@Ch_Flash HAMFA 94/105 points

So i was on the shelf with this. IRL this mimics the likes of Lancia/Alfa/Saab story with a performance coupe after a huge hit to their markets. Wish that was included in the ad. Design wise, it lost some point for using a sedan body (Didn’t check to clear with me via dm) but the identity was well kept. Engineering was done brilliantly tho. 31/39

The Identity of Sidewinder has been all over the world, starting at 60’s with a light sports euro design, then becoming a Japanese coupe during 80s and now an American sports during 2000s. Engineering wise it’s fine, but fails in it’s design sector (not that it’s ugly, just fails the focus of this challenge, to keep an identity) 25/39

@GassTiresandOil Armor Hurricane 98/105 points
The Hurricane understood the assignment. They saw the retro craze and gave us the retro look. Both design and engineering this car has done it well. 37/39

So this car lost points in a few areas, the car feels more of a 90s car than 2005 which is marked at. with that although i see visual ques from older models, feels like it doesn’t share the same identity. 32/39

My man cooked with this one, amazing design while keeping it’s identity, it both looks unique and great. Engineering wise matches the looks and pervious models, so all in all great submission.

This car has a really distinct identity via it being a mid engine car that puts the engine in driver’s cabin. Tho it did seem like they struggled to have the the headlights and tail lights be modernized. All in all unique submission 32/39

Also pretty consistent, Loki kept it’s identity well design wise but woke up a monster from hell with it’s engineering, having a 500+HP engine in sub ton chassis. 33/39

Ant that’s the results! Congrats to @OME for scoring most points but keep in mind this was more of a practice to learn a design language and stick to it. So hopefully you all came out of this, more skilled.

  • Main goal is consistency while looking good, otherwise @DuceTheTruth100 would’ve scored much higher!
  • Engineering is part of the design, it’s not just the looks.
  • Include multiple eras, not just 60s, 80s, 2000s. it can be back to back, earlier or later. goal is to understand the different eras and your company’s design language.
