ABS-01P1 / 1995 Rising Sun Sports [RESULTS ARE IN]

I suppose if you set the trim year and it meets the requirements, it does look more 1980s so I can’t promise you will score well with the style vote and such. But it does look good

I accidentally clicked the discord invite when I was reading through the rules, and thought you might want to know the link does not work

oh shit fuck ok thanks

for lap testing, i dont have beam so can i ask someone else to test it for me?

Yes of course, we don’t care :joy:

Also you don’t need to do the beam lap if you don’t want

I can give it a whirl. I only have a controller and i’m not the best, but I can at least give you my impressions of it.

Quite a sleek-looking FF coupe - and one made sweeter by that revvy atmo V6 - giving FTO/Eclipse vibes. I suspect you took the 2.52m wheelbase version of the '92 Evade body set (in notchback configuration - the fastback has a wraparound rear window) as a base and pushed the A-pillar further forward to get the desired proportions (although doing so in the 2.89m wheelbase version still leaves a lot of dash-to-axle ratio, so that trick doesn’t work quite as well there). Matter of fact, if the A-pillar were moved further aft, you could adapt the design into an FR-platform flagship positioned above it. But why are the tires 200mm wide exactly? In 1995, any tire whose width was divisible exactly by 10 would’ve definitely been a race tire, not a road tire.

You’re dead on for the body and honestly I just didn’t know that about tires. Does explain why 200 felt weird. I only went with it because getting within the requirements was like walking a tight rope with this set up. I’ll remember that for the future.

Hey, do I get permission to take some more flattering pictures of your car for the style vote? This picture will probably hamper your scores

I posted a number of pictures, just gotta hit the arrows. Regardless tho go ahead I don’t mind at all.

Oh shit, I guess I am just…a word I cant say here

I’ll have a look at them :joy:

I actually did make a fully detailed build using the 2.89m Evade notchback bodyset, with the A-pillar as far forward as possible - you can find it here. It shows that pushing the A-pillar all the way to the front in a longitudinal FR-platform build on the '92 Evade only makes sense on the largest variant, and less so on the smaller ones.

Looks like I won’t get my car built in time :sob:
Been way too busy lately, so I’ve been behind on getting this thing touched up and tuned. Not the end of the world, though, I’ll still share it once I’m done (just won’t be entering lol)

And some pictures along with the base version.

The Neptune is real proof that your skills as a car exterior designer have definitely improved in the past few months. I’m sure this one is built on one of the new body sets introduced in the Al-Rilma open beta - but which one exactly is it? My only complaint is that the headlight covers are a bit too small (as are the fog light/indicator lenses) - but those could be easily fixed.

And considering the limited budget, a strut front/trailing arm rear would be perfectly acceptable.
