MotorMasters Studios, 2026
In order to choose the cover car for the latest installment of the Stage Masters rally simulator series, the studio is looking for brands to submit their rally cars. Specifically, they’re looking for cars in the Rally2 category. Group Rally2 (previously known as R5) is a technical specification of rally car determined by the FIA. It features 1.6L turbo engines, four-wheel drive and a maximum weight-to-power ratio of 4.2 kg/hp. Rally2 cars are used in the World Rally Championship, exclusively in its WRC2 support championship; the FIA continental championships and in national championships.
Rules
This challenge will be judged purely on visuals.
General rules:
-
Designs ranging from 2012 to the current era are allowed, since Rally2 is a renaming of the R5 rules released in 2012, but 2020’s era designs are recommended. In-game years are irrelevant for this challenge.
-
Entries can be submited in any trim (tarmac, ice, gravel, snow), just ensure the ride height makes sense for the trim. Tyre specifications are detailed below. Multiple submissions in different trims are also allowed.
-
Van and utility body types are banned.
-
Wheelbase should be between 2.45 and 2.65 metres, not a hard rule but will get dinged for realism if it falls too far from this range, unless a longer or shorter wheelbase makes sense for the bodystyle.
-
A livery is required for the Rally2 variant. It can be a race-ready livery or a manufacturer promotional livery.
-
There must be a series production version of the car.
-
Interiors aren’t required nor will they be judged.
Tyre specifications:
-
Overall maximum diameter of 650 mm, maximum width of 225 mm.
-
Gravel and ice: Rim diameter of 15".
-
Tarmac and snow: Rim diameter of 18".
Allowed body modifications:
-
The overall shape of the car must remain the same: the roofline and all windows must retain the same shape.
-
Front and rear bumpers can be modified.
-
Aerodynamic elements can be added to the front and rear bumpers.
-
Front and rear fenders can be modified.
-
Mudflaps can be added.
-
Rear doors can be modified.
-
Side skirts can be modified.
-
Wing mirrors can be modified or changed.
-
Bonnet can be modified. Additional openings on the engine bonnet […] must be fitted with wire netting with a mesh of maximum 10 mm (for Automation purposes, this will not be measured thoroughly, just make sure there is a wire-looking mesh).
-
Roof scoop can be added.
-
Rear spoiler can be added.
If you want to add a snorkel (for Automation purposes, measurements won’t be thorough, just make sure the size of everything makes sense): -
Additional opening on the bonnet or on a front fender: Authorised for the sole purpose of allowing the air supply to the engine, and to place a duct with a maximum section of 200 cm2 (see Drawing 261-2).
-
This opening must fit in a rectangle with a maximum surface of 250 cm2 , and it must be completely covered by the duct.
-
The connection between the opening and the duct must be completely sealed.
-
The top end of the duct must point towards the back of the car.
Additional lights:
-
They may not be housed within the bodywork.
-
They must be installed entirely below the lower edge of the windscreen when viewed from the front.
-
They must be installed symmetrically.
-
If they are independent of the headlights, the original fog lights may be removed.
-
Protective headlight covers may be fitted, provided that their only function is to cover the glass and that they have no influence on the car’s aerodynamics.
-
Lateral indicator lights (as well as their location) must be retained if fitted on the standard production car.
Advanced trim settings:
- Tyre width and diameter are banned for both variants.
- Wheel diameter is banned, unless the wheel lip is modified so that the overall diameter of the rim remains at 15" for the Rally2 variant, or whatever the original diameter is for the production variant.
- Other tyre and wheel adjustments are allowed within reason.
- Wheelbase changes must be reasonable and equal for both variants.
Judging Criteria
- Design, creativity and quality: How creative, complex and detailed the design is, and how well all the elements work together, both in the series production and Rally2 variants.
- Modifications: How closely the design sticks to what real Rally2 cars look like in terms of aerodynamics and visuals, how much it changes from the series production look.
- Livery: This will have less of an impact. How complex and well executed the livery is.
