I assume the original car should have a flatplane crankshaft? The .car has a crossplane. Changing crankshaft from flat (original?) to crossplane should constitute engine swap imo considering it’s not as simple as just changing the crank, it takes a lot more than that and isn’t really feasable

yeah, iirc the f106 and rest of the dino family v8s all used a flatplane crank, assuming this is a mistake from the host?

Oh crap. That’s actually a mistake from my side. I forgot to change to a flatplane crank when building the engine, because I had actually forgotten that option even existed in game, I don’t build supercar engines too often, that’s obvious… :expressionless:

It’s a bit late to change that now, but… my suggestion is that if you want to keep the original engine, yes, change it to a flatplane crank if you want to keep it realistic.

However, it’s a thing that is a bit complicated to do a workaround for now just because I messed up, so I can only say it as a recommendation. When changing the crank for a flatplane one, it does not affect the pricing of the car as I can see…so implementing a penalty now for an engineering decision I messed up myself does not seem 100% necessary.

Checking things up, it seems like the version used in the Lancia 8.32 actually has a crossplane crank, so I guess that could be the sketchy realism loophole that saves the situation.

So, no changes rule wise but yeah, while you’re at it, if you want this to be a modified original engine realism wise, I can recommend a crank change…

We heard you at Roadburners when you said, “Nothing is Sacred.”

We know that showing the original a bit of respect is important… The heart and soul of a car shouldn’t change too much no matter how wild we go with it.

This is why, compared to most of our Roadburners Customs, this one was kept tame.

Meet the Ferrari 308 GTB Roadburners Special, named “The Red Ones Go Faster!”

So, what’d we do besides desecrate a classic? We took some inspirations from various supercars, including other Ferraris, to make this one better.

  • AWD because there’s no excuse for wheelspin off of the line.
  • A modest bump in horsepower over the factory standard thanks to some custom five-valve heads and a turbo - inspired by the legendary F40 (Yes, it has two of them and you get one - it spools faster that way.)
  • An extra rear axle to put that power into the pavement, inspired by other Formula 1 cars (like the March 2-4-0) that raced against Ferrari.
  • An aerodynamics package intended to help stick the car better to the ground.
  • A tastefully-integrated sat-nav system meant to keep interior changes minimal and unobtrusive.
  • A delightful six-speed gated manual gearbox that gives you what most cars couldn’t in 1980 - “Just one more gear” to get the revs down on the highway.
  • A raised rev limit, pushing to a screaming 9,000 RPM. The internals can go higher, we know, but we had one more ace up our sleeve that we couldn’t deploy if we had tried to make it sing to 12,000 RPM.
  • Fully emissions legal anywhere in the world. That’s right, you heard us: This car can beat the modern smog tests.
  • And last, but certainly not least - A repaint into the famous Rosso Corsa. Because, as we all know:

The Red Ones Go Faster!

I present, the Seal Tuning 328 STC

Over at Seal Tuning™ we decided to take the legendary classic that is the Ferrari 308, and make it modern in all the right aspects.

ENGINE

Starting under the hood, we have an engine that is familiar, yet brand new. Our engineers took the classic F106, and redesigned it for the needs of the 21st century.

Instead of a 3-liter cast aluminium block, we have a bored-out 3.2 liter billet block, machined from a singular block of aluminium.

This comes packaged with high-compression forged internals, variable valve timing on all 4 cams, a high-flow exhaust system, and a direct injection system, boosting it to just under 385 hp, while revving up to 8000 rpm.

While it may not be king of the time sheets, this engine will not let you down, with an incredibly high reliability score, low weight, and decent (ish) fuel economy.

Also, it’s painted red. We all know the red ones go faster.

EXTERIOR
We kept the timeless styling of the 308 intact, with a few simple adjustments.

The lighting has been completely overhauled, with old halogen bulbs replaced by next-gen LED clusters and Angel Eye DRLs.

The old 15 inch rims have been replaced by 18 inch copies made from chrome-plated magnesium.

A ducktail wing was added to the back in order to improve aerodynamics.

Also, the ugly 5mph bumpers were replaced by sleeker EU spec counterparts.

The vanity plate comes free-of-charge.

INTERIOR
The interior has been nearly entirely redesigned, with new, red leather upholstery, an alcantara-covered dash, a short-throw shifter with a custom ergonomic knob, a modern infotainment system, and various improvement’s to the driver’s area of operations.

For the driver, we have installed brand new gauges with a built in multi-function display,
a center mounted infotainment system with access to performance recording applications, and a fighter jet-style HUD in the driver’s field of view, providing valuable information including speed, current RPM, water and oil temperature, as well as the G-load the car is under. In addition, we added a flat-bottom GT-style steering wheel for maximum ergonomics.

THE OTHER IMPORTANT BITS

The transmission has been replaced with a 6-speed manual, coupled to a clutched LSD allowing for 0-60 in just above 4 seconds and a top speed of 355kph.

The tires have been upgraded to a sports compound 255/35R18 on all 4 axles, allowing easy access to high-performance replacements.

The brakes take the form of 335mm vented discs with 4 piston calipers in the front, and 305mm vented discs with 4 piston calipers in the back.

The underside of the car has been covered in low-drag cladding in order to improve aerodynamics.

As covered before, the interior is upholstered with high-quality red leather and alcantara, as well as having a modern infotainment and HUD system.

In order to provide drivability on par with factory-new cars, we have fitted variable electric power steering together with ESC, allowing for even an absolute newbie to extract fun from driving the car.

And last but not least, we have installed air suspension together with adaptive dampers and semi active sway bars, allowing for the aesthetics of a low-slung car while being able to maintain regular ride height for standard driving.

328 GTBi Revo by LVC

A subtly enhanced version of the original 308, enhanced with modern engineering.

With its engine bored out to 3.2L and sending 400bhp to the rear wheels via a 6-speed close-ratio manual gearbox and helical LSD, the 328 Revo is far faster in a straight line than the original. And thanks to staggered high-performance tires (225mm front/255mm rear), large vented disc brakes (4-piston 335mm front/2-piston 315mm rear), and a manually adjustable suspension kit, its cornering and braking abilities have been brought up to modern-day standards.

Extra-cost options include a remanufactured 3.2L 32v alu/silicon V8 w/VVT (for intake and exhaust valves) and individual throttle body multi-port injection ($2000), body/aero kit w/front and rear spoilers + wheel arch flares ($1500), galvanized steel chassis ($2000), and aluminum body panels ($1500). This example is finished in Blu Tour De France with 18-inch 5-spoke forged aluminum wheels, available in a variety of colors and designs (such as the Oro Chiaro shown here). In addition, the outdated exterior lighting system has been replaced with an all-LED setup.

The interior is finished in lightweight alcantara and incorporates a premium infotainment system with a touchscreen - although physical knobs and buttons are present as a fail-safe.

To preserve the donor car’s analog feel, the unassisted steering has remained untouched, but traction control and ABS have been added for ease of use. Even so, it remains faster, nimbler, cleaner than the original, without being too fast for the road - and at an all-up price of $45k AMU (including options).

LG Ferrari 308 GTB

LG has carefully reworked the front and rear to make the car more special but still true to the original. The changes to the sides are a bit more aggressive to fit the lowered stance and bigger wheels.

We kept the original engine, but it is modernized with new fuel injection and fitted with new 16 valves heads with VVT, now giving 300hp.

The interior is more or less stock, we put in new seats and added some modern digital creature comforts.

48 HOUR REMINDER
Actually more like 46½ since I forgot but…

I have gotten additional complete entries from:
@Ch_Flash
@Sealboi

With 16 votes for the theme and 23 downloads of the car I hope for at least a couple more entries I must say…

damn i should speed up the work on my “how the fuck did i win an AMR” contingency car

I downloaded the car to mess with on the alpha, mb lol

It’s all fine…I just think that there must be some more creativity lurking out there too :stuck_out_tongue:

CLOSED!

Since there were no instabins that part is at least quick, so expect results in some days or so.

ICONS, TODAY
The Ferrari 308 GTB defined an era in car design and paved the way for the design of the Prancing Horse for nearly 15 years. MCF Atelier took the task seriously, respecting the iconic shape of the car and working on the detalis that could bring the design in this current period. All the mechanic stuff is re-worked so that the performance parameters could be as close as possibile to current Ferraris lineup.
As a homage to the legendary 288 GTO, which was born thanks to a heavily modified 308, the flatplane V8 has been reduced in its stroke, resulting in a 2.85 litres engine, capable of 570 hp. Screaming up to 8000+ rpm, and with an all new 6-speed manual gearbox, the S40-8 Fiorano can basically reach the top speed which the driver dares to. But do not fear to step into the brakes, because the all-round carboceramic brakes will stop the car in time.

OK, since being so close to the deadline, I have decided to accept the submission from @MCF too, it would just be overly strict not to because of a few minutes. But no more submissions from now on…
