I’ve been practicing driving without TCS… yeah you think a Stage 3 1M or an M3 is oversteery? Just wait until you drive a MR GT3 car, those things snap into oversteer like a teenager going through mood swings
I’ve to conclude saying that the SLS AMG GT3 is hilariously twitchy but the easiest to go pretty fast in, however the McLaren 650S GT3 is easier yet and also doesn’t burn up tyres as much as the Merc does. However the Merc’s oversteer is a lot more controllable, where if the rear lets go in the McLaren your entire lap is done for.
Yeah scratch all of that. The aged but mighty Audi R8 LMS lives on true to it’s legendary status and beats the 650S GT3 by over a second and I’m sure there’s more time to be found yet.
NO! The king has been toppled by a newcomer, the Ferrari 488 GT3!
I know there’s still nearly a whole 2 seconds easily to be found with a clean lap and good setup. For reference the record for the quickest lap is 0:38.
And holy fuck the 98T is a hairy ride with no TCS and 100% turbo
@ramthecowy hmmm I guess I was shooting for something only a bit stepped up because I didn’t want to scare everybody off. Then again those GT3 cars are actually quite easy to drive due to ridiculous amount of downforce. I encourage you to try the M3 E92 to see if it’s fair, I actually think it’s a far bit more squirrelly than the GT3 cars but also slower so you have more time to react.
Also how are you using the stage 1 exos? I don’t seem to be able to access them in the regular game, only on my server list.
edit: nevermind that, I found it! Silly me, how did I not notice this, hilarity will now ensue lololol
No idea. It had been in the box for the last 6 months, when I put it back on, none of the pedals worked, but that was apparently was a bug with a bad logitech update, then I had to download all the drivers again. I was quite relieved when I got it going, even in that shitty way. It took me about 3 hours to set it up, for me to be able to play/want to play for 30-40 minutes.
The wheel is still under warranty, so I’ll find where the tech assistance is and take it there on monday to see what’s up.
That said despite it supposing to autodetect like a boss I’ve had some issues with the G27 too, namely trying to assign the axes such that gas and brake are actually on separate axes. That’s important for manual cars and heel toe downshift, because otherwise blipping the throttle overrides the brake, and also for cars in which you want to keep the throttle a bit open while trailing the brake around certain corners. I don’t know whether to try using the control assigner in AC itself, or attempt to override it with Logitech’s own utility.
But the 1M doesn’t have that delightful tendency for the rear tyres to let go under full throttle at the slightest provocation! especially on street tyres which is what I’ve done… EDIT: I take that back, on street tyres, it’s just as lairy with the added bonus of turbo.
(Also about the flappy paddles thing, I decided to make some things harder, some things easier. Mouse users who opt not to use TCS are going to have their hands full with copious amounts of countersteering.)
So I decided to see if my memory of the M1 was as it was, and actually, no, probably driving the M1 hard around Nordschleife is more difficult after all. Or rather it’s just a more ‘fun’ experience.
Fun, as in unintentionally getting sideways entering the cresting kink at Schwedenkreuz doing 200km/h:
EDIT: After a bit of adjustment of driving style, I figure you can actually get quite a similar time in the 1M as you can the M3 E92. The 1M is tighter, grips harder and has less top speed. The M3 is more malleable and soaks up tons of opposite lock but also heavier and needs smooth driving. Maybe I should open this round to both models and get a bit of an old vs new rivalry going.
