Automation on Windows 8.1

I am running Windows 8.1 and attempting to get Automation installed.
The launcher installs and finds the current game download. Once it downloads and installs, the launcher still reports Game Version 0 and tries to redownload the same game version again. It then asks if I would like to re-run the installer or completely redownload the file. I have tried both.

I am aware that this game probably isn’t completely compatible with Windows 8, let alone the Windows 8.1 preview. I am just looking into either a work around or just providing information that may help with making it compatible.

Thanks,

Working with me on win 8.1

Have you tried installing it into the default folder? Are you running as administrator?

I am running it with a few crashes here and there on win 8.1. One problem I found is that when the screen rotates, the game crashes, but there are more pressing bugs.

It is not as stable as the previous version (with the green stat box)

Also was there ever an answer to why this needs to be run as admin? What exactly is it doing that requires elevated privileges?

i’m on 8.1 and ive not had any problems with it crashing. There is one problem, however, and that’s when your doucments folder has been moved - automation refuses to boot past the launcher.

Wait… you’re running 8.1 preview right, not 8.1? Did you make sure you’re fully updated from Microsoft support center? Preview is tricky as they left out a bunch of features its not really meant to be your full time operating system. Just a “preview” to see the changes from 8 to 8.1 and to test system compatibility.

Seems to work fine on my Windows 8.1 machine setup in the default folders (also works on 10).

I had this same issue. No one could ever figure out why.

Well, I ask myself if there’s a way to get it running more stable. I having these issues too, and I don’t know if I should just scream or something… Dangit.

Well, that’s strange: I never had any problems installing it on Win 8.1, and that’s what I’m using right now…still, though, nialloftara may be on to something, I think: you could try either going back to what you had before, or installing the full Win 8.1…whichever you may prefer, and see if that helps.
