Automation Touring Car Championship [FINAL RESULTS]

20th! there was some fierce competition in the 26 second bracket!

I scored points in the both races and i’m in the top half of the standings. Way better than expected

Dang it, I think my handling is good but I need more poweerrr. I’m curious how you turbo guys managed to make so much HP while being reliable and under budget. I tried and couldn’t.

I went for a super high revving v8, with a max of near 10k. Idk if that was the right approach but i am near dead center of the pack.

Smolensk is highly pleased with the results!

Trollercoaster, our motherland calls upon us to win this for her!

EDIT: Also, I just checked my own spreadsheet and the result, and the times match with none of my values on the spreadsheet. Hum. This may be something to do with the funny way it loads and saves.
I also got this problem, I had run some preliminary results before, which I hadn’t noted down, but I knew roughly what they were, and I had got different results to some cars, including yours, I retested them several times, accounting for the aero bug, but if the new result was repeated, which they did, I didn’t see a reason not to use it.
Yeah that’s fine, I don’t see an easy way to fix it!

Also, ouch, by 3/100ths of a second! This will definitely be a tight contest.

EDIT: Just checked over some times and none of them matched my spreadsheet anyway, meaning that it was one of those “the times looked like this while I was tuning it but once I closed it something changed” things, so definitely you couldn’t do anything about that! It is a little annoying when the times are this close, but at any rate, it has not actually made any difference in positions so far, and even if it did, it is certainly not an issue. I’ll just submit the rest to lady luck!

Hey guys,

As I am sure you have noticed, I did the overview cards with little to no information of the cars. That was made on purpose for two reasons, firstly, it means less work for me :stuck_out_tongue:, but most importantly, it allows me to release that data now, on a direct comparison between the cars, making it easier to pitch your car against others and to understand what is really going on.

I was going to release one set of stats together with every race, but I was in a rush and simply forgot about it. So now, in between the races, I release the power, weight and power to weight comparisons.

You can see them, together with the race results on this imgur album

Or down below:

Nice work ,
let’s me see what a truly crap car I built, lol

I dunno about that man, at first, I was just having fun pushing the power to weight ratio to the max, but now I wonder if I shouldn’t have paid more attention to getting the fundamental balance right before tuning the ever loving stuffing out of it :stuck_out_tongue: I’m just hoping that brute force compensates for relative lack of control!

10th or 11th in power, lightness, and power to weight yet tied for 17th overall. Might have overpowered my front wheels slightly and could definitely have dialed the suspension in a bit more but overall I’m pretty happy with my little car

I’m pretty much in the bottom half of all those stats but i’m still 16th in the champioship right now, which means i’m in the top half there.
Looks like at least my set up is not too bad but my engine is pretty bad… 42hp below average and 123hp below top…

I revisited my design and noticed I am missing out on 14hp if I just increased my exhaust size 0.25" -_-

Hopefully my hours (10 minutes) of tuning (pushing sliders to random positions) will make up for my minimal (quite significant) power:weight deficit.

Hey cool, if you only spent (10 minutes) on the tuning, maybe you might have some time to reply to that pm I sent you last week :stuck_out_tongue:

By the way, I would like to point out that originally I had planned to post the results every two days, having the first two races released so close wasn’t what I had planned for, and the rush allowed for some problems to sneak through. I was going to release one graph every race, along with some sort of journalistic writing to go with it. But I got carried away with trying to release them as soon as I could.

Anyway, tomorrow a new set of results should come your way. I want to release them early on the afternoon, but I might not be able to, who knows.

Don’t sweat it man, you’ll post when you’re ready to post and we will all be happy with that; the waiting for results will only magnify the suspense!

8th for power and 3rd for weight, that’s not bad, especially for a noob. And while screwing around earlier today I was able to build a 350HP engine within regulations.

Also, points in both races!!!

Now I just need to get better at suspension tuning.

Honestly the card said it all, as a demo user you did a great job. I would say if you got the full version you would likely be very competitive on track!

Edit: just realised I may have mistaken the user who was using the demo version :stuck_out_tongue:

Here we have the third race results and things are spicing up among the top three.

From 10th to 25th, things are pretty mixed up as well.

Here are the results:

And we have a tie for the top of the leaderboard, they are matched up in all the criteria I had come up with, so we have a three-way tie.

Now that was not quite the expected result! I was expecting third. Jakgoe, you were very right in your remark about the Trololol. It’s VERY handy in the corners.

With this, I’m really happy, because this promises to be the tightest of competitions! I say good luck and godspeed to everybody!

Edit: now I definitely don’t know for sure what happened to the save file, even reloading all my things, that time is different again in a different way to previously! Fortunately for all that it has not altered my position at all, despite just how close it is. But next time I will definitely be less ocd about tuning!
