Hey, 2nd safest car. Least I got something going for me in this championship.
Great… so you’ll walk away from any crashes, and I’ll be the only competitor with enough gas left to drive home.
Yay, safest car in the competition! To be honest I just wasn’t entirely sure what the rules in regard to safety meant and decided to play it, well, reasonably safe to make a valid car.
First of all, Happy New Year to everyone!
And on the first day of the year, I bring you the results of the last race on this season of the ATCC.
Congratulations to the overall winner, Jakgoe!
And I thank everyone of you who took part on this, thanks very much!
Share your thoughts and suggestions for the second season of the ATCC, which could come soon. It really does depend on your feedback, if you are interested I could start a new season almost straightaway.
See you then!
I’d love there to be a new season! There’s a big lack of very well organised competitions like this one, and also I want to at least earn some points in another season…
Very well done to the winner and to you Leo, for putting on such a good competition. (I also loved the little stats given along the way!)
Happy new year everyone! Thanks for this great challenge!! Looking forward to the next one!!
Happy new year guys! I’m really pleased with how I did, considering the minimal effort I put into the car. I chalk it up to luck as much as anything. Thanks so much Leo!
Happy new year and thanks for hosting this most excellent of tournaments Leo! It had all the excitement, the intrigue, the tension and ups and downs you could expect in a real race season all from a simulator.
Congrats to Jakgoe, I feel luck would be a very modest way of putting things, given your experience, but don’t worry, where you might not give yourself credit, we shall I sure hope you’ll join other tournaments in future, as it never fails to spice things up a bit (or a lot!) Thanks also to everyone else who took part, and went along a similarly wild rollercoaster ride!
To me, what this tournament proved is that a slightly tuned but fundamentally better balanced build for the tracks does overall better than an extreme build tuned to its utmost. Like in previous tournaments of this size, it’s interesting to see how certain perhaps counterintuitive methods yield better results, and from this we might be able to pinpoint not just how to make faster cars, but also quirks in the simulation.
For the company, given what we did, 2nd place is well deserved. GG faces a crossroads in competitive motorsports: whether to continue adopting their extreme power:weight approach, or to seek better balance to seriously chase the win. What will we do? Only time will tell!
I feel an 8 race tournament in a similar format would do nicely. I’m very keen on another adaptation of a touring car format, though if it were V8 Supercars I would personally prefer all tracks to be based on the Australian circuit (of which only one exists so far). If it were WTCC based, perhaps it might be easier to make on preexisting tracks. My biggest concern would be to know the tracks beforehand and the specific files, so we could scope out track conditions ahead of time.
Looking forward to another season! But I’m in no hurry, so whenever is good for you!
Well, that was a mess… But I’m glad I entered as someone needs to come last and at least I was (kinda) able to beat one competitor!
I did say I was going to be about 20th, right? 23rd isn’t too far off.
21st here (tied points wise with 20th), we have to step our game up, 20th awaits us!
OK, 31th place it is. Early into the season there was some hope for a slightly better result but realistically that result is still better than what I could and did hope for (anything but last is a success), especially given my tendency to ‘ease’ the learning curve by choosing stuff like turbo charged engines or going for a 4 door sedan body.
That result also means plenty of room to improve upon using the stuff I learned so far, but also to fail doing so by refusing to use some stuff I learned, or knew beforehand and already didn’t use in the first car. Good thing the second season Group A rules include a weight limit, that reduces at least some of the weight penalty already by default.
Leonardo9613, thank you for hosting this nice and well executed ATCC competition and I’m looking forward to be part of the 1987 ATCC.
But now I need an engine and a car to put it into, again V8 Turbo and 4 door sedan of course but this time AWD. The general idea behind QSA was ‘kind of Subarus with Italian inspired looks and, sometimes, technical genius bordering madness’ after all.
