Reviews for Runners

(We only got 3 runner car submissions so I can announce the scores)
Scores were /100 with (+5 interior bonus points to overall score to make the final score)

In order of scores, we got

@moroza with the DCMW Marqaba Special Six X

The Marqaba was the prime choice of the wealthier mobsters such as El Capen, the ones that already had a good reputation stablished and needed to maintain that with successful runs. It relied heavily on performance and off-road capability while able to carry a lot of the product. But it’s heavy running cost and expensive price tag made it a unique sight to see… But when you saw this car on your highway patrol, unless you were prepared for it, you’d never be able to catch up…

Strengths over the competition:

  • Utility
  • Offroad
  • Practicality
Design notes

The Marqaba feels a bit weird in design, it’s clearly a form over function idea behind it with really big wheels allowing it gain a monstrous lead in off-road category which was a 2 star priority, but compared to it’s competition, it was the least interesting of the bunch! Just to show how strong this competition was. They all had a strength and weak point and it was really fun to see. I gave it 6/10 - Nobuddy

Final score: 80 (77+3)

Next

@Hilbert with Brindley Interstate

While the bigger groups utilized fast and big cars, the small group known as “Albertans” used a slightly modified Brindley Interstate to move their product across states! It made up for it’s lacking performance in everywhere by it’s extremely cheap price, and svc, while being an easy to drive car and almost as capable as the other cars, allowing it dodge traffic, blockades and trees while it gets flagged to get checked! This little car while being a cute city car, cause a havoc on highways of Gasmea only a gremlin could…

Strengths over the competition:

  • Price
  • SVC
  • Drivablity
Design notes

This body and design was a big gamble and it might have costed them the win. While it’s really fun to see such take on a moonshine runner car as if it’s BMW moving… imma stop there… My point is it’s a good looking for a car like this because you can see a passion behind it. I gave it a 7/10 on design points. Also, it lost a bit of points for it’s interior bonus (not overall score) just because you have to chop your legs of to use it. - Nobuddy

Final score: 81 (79 + 2)

And lastly

@Ultimate_Billy with the Bovos Wolverine

While the other two were a niche choice, the Wolverine was the most popular shine runner through the whole Gasmea! The most infamous example belonging to “Red tracks” moving their product from south to all coastal cities! Their iconic black and red car was a sign of infamy, making it a high priority for all of the task force to be involved and because of it, some makeshift upgrades were made, including a blinding spotlight target towards behind, and delete of rear seats to minimize trips for large cargo! Another basic yet effective tactic they used was taping their plates as every Wolverine was going to be searched anyway…

Strengths over the competition:

  • Performance (It really dominated)
  • Styling
  • Being a jack of all trades (Every other stats either matched or was really close to the other two)
Design notes

The Wolverine was the most fun to check out car yet. The small details all around the car made me want to look for more to find! from simple booze bottles in the back, to the spotlight and the tapes over the plates. The car itself is just a 50’s sedan/coupe which is fine and well within the challenge scope, but what made it different from the Marqaba was the little details, and the interior was everything i hoped for!, I gave it a 8/10 - Nobuddy

Final score: 87 (82 + 5) (WINNER)

Alright, task force… Unite!

We got a total of 6 cars for our new fleet and let’s go through em.

@Isabella with Hexe Joan Interceptor

The Hexe feels like a nice choice at first until you see the price tag for what it offers, yeah it’s comfortable but maintaining this thing or replacing it if totaled gonna leave a mark on our budget… I just don’t see anything this car can do better than others for it’s hefty price…

Strengths:
Comfort
Safety

Design notes

It looks fine, style wise it’s a 50s police car but compared to others, it falls short. Not to mention it’s the only submission that didn’t have an interior making it lose on the bonus points it provides. I gave it a 6/10 design wise overall - Nobuddy

Final score: 70 (70+0)

@VanZandt_Breda with Mayflower Intender Special 110

The Intender is a fine choice, but there are a lot better for sure, it’s good with most stuff but excels at nothing, what hurt it the most was the worst performing “car” (yes we had a truck that was worse than this in our performance evaluation). We can buy one or two to have as reserve cars if the budget allows.

Strengths:
N/A

Design notes

I like a few details on this car, the sirens being on top of the bumpers for less parasite drag, headlight covers to protect against big rocks if gone offroad, the livery… it’s a good design, but the base of the car betrays the creativity a bit, the small body makes all these details feel too loud and the interior was really bare minimum which gave it a few points none the less, but I gave it a 7/10. - Nobuddy

Final Score: 74 (72+2)

@Hilbert with GriVAZvK 2446 “Chkalov”

I don’t even dare pronounce the name of this soviet abomination… Yeah we’re in a “cold war” but honestly surprised by the utility this thing brings… well surprisingly this utility truck isn’t the best utilitarian but it’s practical and cheap… like dirt cheap… we can buy a bunch and use em as blockades… and maybe for transport cause this thing, ain’t keeping up with my grandma if it’s life depended on it… It’s so slow, it’ll lose to a turtle in a drag race… but yeah… maybe i’m a bit harsh since it’s really good offroad, maybe not…

Strengths:
Practicality
SVC
Offroad
Price

Design notes

*Again Hilbert and their unorthodox submission, this soviet thing has one thing and one thing only going for it (Design wise), personality, wasn’t expecting leaving an open body selection would inspire to have a utility truck for a speed task force but here we are. Details wise it’s a bit basic all around which falls into the soviet function over form ideology but it does hurt it’s score… And interior is the same, but i’d like to mention it’s marked to allow 1+8 passengers! so yeah…

Final score: 81 (77+4)

@Ultimate_Billy with the Bovos CrimeBuster

This case made police car may look familiar to you all because it’s been a patrol car in many states! for maybe a bit too long, it’s a bit dated but the refresh gave it the grunt to compete out here today! It offers best utility if you believe it tied to another car that we yet have to mention but it’s also rather cheap and easy to maintain. It’s been comfy from what i’ve heard and the new engine helps it keep up quite fine… We can buy a few of these and give it to officers that already had this car as their patrol since they’re familiar with it…

Strengths:
Utility
Practicality

Design notes

I like the details in this car, it goes well together but again, it’s a bit generic amongst most of the submissions, the older body style choice does give it an extra charm and uniqueness which helps a bit I don’t like the rear design tho. The interior is also good, the radio is nice as well… -Nobuddy

Final score: 83 (79+4)

@moroza with the DCMW Marqaba Special Six S

First thing i thought when i checked the documents on this car, was the price tag… it’s the most expensive candidate but then, i saw what else came with it… this thing is fast, like opposite of the Gri Vaz vk? the soviet truck thingy… This thing is easy to drive, if we have this in a chase, it can keep up with anything… We get a few of our good drivers in it and we can cut down
on those pesky shine runners like crazy. But that price, we can’t have too many of them.

Strengths:

Performance
Drivability

Design notes

It’s a DCMW, it’s over the top but elegant, it feels a bit out of place for a police car but as a speed task force unit, it can make sense. The things i loved tho was the small jokes and hints as if a few bold kids found a marker and started having fun with this car… Interior wise it’s also fine, nothing special, but good enough. I gave it a 8/10 overall - Nobuddy

Final score: 88 (84+4)

@GassTiresandOil with the Armor Briar Pursuit

Now, ready for your standard issue patrol cars now? This Armor Briar is top of the line car that checked every box with a passing mark and it looked so good, it might also be able to bring in new recruits to just drive this thing! It’s not as fast as the DCMW, but it’s fast enough and just as utilitarian as the Bovos! It’s within budget to maintain and replace, it’s comfy and practical! And it’s reliable!

Strengths:

Reliability
Style
Utility
Jack of all traits

Design notes

Honestly stunning, I dare say a game quality submission. If i saw this in a game like Mafia, I’d believe it! The details are tame but the car it self elevates it so much that makes it stand out… I have nothing bad to say about it, and Interior was also clean and well made! 10/10 - Nobuddy

Final score: 93 (88+5) (Winner)

Thanks to everyone who participated! The quality of all submissions was high and hard to score! Hope you all have a good one! I also have an idea for the next challenge i’m hosting…

And I have an idea for what to enter for it…

Good challenge! I’ll happily take 2nd for the usual reasons. The interiors weren’t really made to be presentable; they’re well below my usual standards.

Thanks for the win in the police car category! There were a lot of really good looking candidates, it’s always hard to predict how your entry will do against others
