BRC 1976 - Under Pressure [E8-Q]

how much rain will there be? because i’m considering putting on medium compound tyres.

a) this^
b) since you are beginner, I guarantee you (insert meme if you like ;)) will not make 110% lap time with medium compound, so just stick with the slicks.
c) for basic on-rain-info check (brilliant) BRC Booklet in the thread head.

considering last season rain are quite often as long has 20% chance or above, there will be a lot of shower and rain. heavy rain is quite rare case but if it has more than 50-60% chance of raining you should consider the heavy rain

Maybe its bad on purpose
Reality is: My car only has 165ish horsepowers. I think it could need a BIT more.

You wanted that fwd so bad
165 on mostly power-orientated racetracks is a bit… let’s say ballsy

well 19 days left to find 76’s sweet spot, looking forward to see all the different designs. Speaking of which, @GenJeFT thumbs up for reviews! I am interested but not sure I’ll be available just after the deadline.

Oh reviews and that fuel calculus reminded me of @Packbat. Joining 76?

Probably not, unfortunately - past few weeks have been rough. Thanks for remembering me, though! :v:

i’m still stuck at 2:12.77 with 420ish HP.
whatever i do, most likely would end up increasing the time, not reducing it…

Well, actually, I did read them all before I got started. I’ve managed 2:18s with sport tires and an N/A 302 OHV V8 using the same body (same car actually) i used in Hockenheim endurance, which while it isn’t all that competitive, it is a start (I hope). I did try a few other bodies, but they weren’t American enough, or couldn’t fit tires under them to keep it on the track. I’m a stickler for such things, so it is what it is.

I’ve done exactly that with my car. I don’t think it did too badly

Also, about brobot lap times not correlating to the game. First test I sent a car that was capable of doing 2:11.00, and it did 2:10.3 on the test, second test it was a 2:11.6 in game, did 2:13.3.
Sure, the car from the second test accelerates faster, which would give it a bit of an advantage on the in-game standing start, however, it isn’t a 2.4s difference, that’s for sure.

first little eddit: this started as a very simple short comment… oh well

:joy: respect

Well I have quite similar output doing 2.11.5 but with a tyre wear problem so I’ll have to test how much time I have to sacrifice to normalise that. Not sure how ATT times will compare to actual racetraks time since I have 3 different cars, one is doing great on att, second on gh and third in spa…so yeah.

I’m finding out that before every race, when we send tyre strategy it would make a lot of sense to send our aero tweaks as well. Balancing engine and suspension for all the tracks makes some sense but aero…hmm…just 2 different numbers. IRL tweaking front splitter and rear wing takes minutes and no $. Not sure how much more work would that mean for @Der_Bayer and it would violate the main rule of not changing the car between race and if it is at all possible (maybe in the future or sth).

How exactly does Brobot add the weight of the fuel to the cars and what stats does it change?

@Riso: It adds weight to the car at the center of gravity. It does change only the weight of the car, nothing else.

@AirJordan: Changing cars in between the races will not be a thing. Way too much work. Not the updating itself, but checking if the rest of the car stays the same. And it would not fit the main idea of the challenge: Compromise, not being able to be at the top at every race, giving different approaches a chance.

So… I made several cars and cant break the mystical 2:18 on the test track. I tried oversquare engines, undersquare engines, square engines, and so on. So I said, “SCREW IT” and since Der_Bayer said he was going to ignore the time for troll cars I make a troll car.

Its a big fricking pickup truck with an 8 liter engine that I made in about 15 minutes.

Guess how fast it goes around the track…

2:15?

Ok, got the LHE (RP) modified production car to more respectable speeds.

Featuring such advanced technology as:

Full Ladder Chassis, for extra stiffness
Large displacement V8
Carburetors (Those should surely be more efficient then this ‘Fuel Injection’ people buzz on about)
13" Rims, because large brakes are so blasé
Looks that could kill. (maybe, maybe not)

The LHE Orbital Mk II P31 factory Race car. (intended for SCCA Group B)

Are all of the fixtures in the “Essential pack”(sp) ?

you went full lore mode again didn’t you?
although, except for the carbs, everything is reasonably competitive.

as in, my 2:12.7 car is using ladder chassis competitive.

yes, everything used is in Pyrlix’s HQE

Crikey. What? How? This season seems to be filled with automotive witchcraft!

spoiler alert, front wing only make you 5 second slower

anyone here having success with spoiler the front?

2:14 still become big barrier for me
