and i’ll finally see if my engine is durable enough for a dry flatout race.
According to the practice i should end up 50th-ish. this is a bad race for me.
But at least you can count on the POWER OF THE DRIFT…
One hour remaining!

This race broke my heart
After messing up my first race strategy and forgetting to setup one for the second race, I was hoping I’d place better in this one.
so i realized sth. and got a suggestion.
the starting and refueling amount of fuel does include a safety margin based on the size of the gasoline tank. right?
just asking because my car got quite a huge gastank, but very efficient fuel economy.
i calculated that everytime i get into the pits, i still have 5.7 laps worth of fuel in my gastank.
i’d rather have 6kg lighter car for the whole race, and just a 1.7laps safety margin.
maybe you could make the “safety margin” configureable in BRC8x tool for next season, or calculate the safety margin based on actual consumption?
Poor finish, but I didn’t expect any better. Ah well, there’s always Green Hell…
Yeah, my hope is that Green Hell hurts the turbos enough to keep a lot of them out of the top 20 so i have a snowballs chance in hell of making it into the top 20 haha
Also, these pictures are not going big for me…are they just not going big, or is something wrong with my browser? I didn’t do this one any differently than i have in the past races…
EDIT: @mer_at I think it is calculated based on fuel consumption from practice…like 2 additional laps or something? But it is a veriable, not a constant, as actual fuel consumption during the race is not a constant because it relies on race conditions such as weather and traffic. Or, that is how I understood it.
Great race!
Some things i would like to suggest:
- in reality, at the lap before safety car come into the pit, the race director will tell everyone (including the tv audience) that safety car in this lap, and the yellow flash light is off when it is in this lap. Is it possible that there is a log message to state that the safety car in this lap at the beginning of the in lap of the safety car (or when it is decided to go into the pit), and turn the flash light off when it is in?
2.currently, the log screen output “CRASH!” no matter the total damage it cause. For most of the time, it is not a crash, it is just a contact. So is it possible that if the “crash” is below certain amount (like below 30%), the log is print as a “contact”, else it is a “CRASH!”?
For example:
[35:47]Contact! (29.9%) ! AAA (12%) -> BBB (14%)
(when the “crash” is below 30%)
[35:47]CRASH! (80.9%) ! AAA (45%) -> BBB (32%)
(when the “CRASH!” is above 30%)
@mer_at: currently the fuel amount is calculated this way: consumption_per_lap * 1.1 * planned_laps + 2 kg, where consumption per lap is the maximum of practice fuel consumption and actual race fuel consumption (just in case you are drafting all the time). So the safety margin is mostly proportional to the fuel consumption. As soon as I make the safety margin smaller, we get problems. Not with all cars, but with a considerable bunch. So I won’t change anything there. In case I make a manual strategy mode where you can set the actual laps when to pit, I might add the safety margin selection instead of a total fuel setting.
@heiiosakana: 1. Yeah the safety car should already turn off the lights. I don’t know why it didn’t work though. Gotta take a look. I’ll check if a log message is possible without too much effort, too.
2. That’s easily doable. Will be done for next race.
Thanks for continuing to improve Brobot and the BRC series Der_Bayer, one of the best people in any game community I have ever come across.
I’m glad I managed to finish 5th in at a track not preferred by my setup. I’m even more looking forward to wet hockenheim as my gearing should just max out on that straight and also rain is good news for NA cars.
Once again congrats to @mer_at for surviving the (un)reliability and building a really capable car. You are driving me a bit mad, as I had a car similar to what I submitted but few tenths faster. I lacked balls to submit it because it was a bit less reliable (still more than yours) and more difficult. Oh well…
How about a check box for unsafe margin that changes 1.1 to 1.05 or 2kg to 0? If people with fuel issues choose it that’s their loss. Or maybe less margin for NA cars that are more affected by it?
@Der_Bayer you know when a while ago we were briefly discussing the possibility of implementing more complex strategy (different tyre values in/out of the pit window). Would it be by any chance possible to implement something like that for the last race? Because I fear there would be quite a catastrophe otherwise since you can only pit every 8.5min or so
Another thing is Hockeheim qually. Should we send tyre strategies for that? Because I wouldn’t want to go by the old tyre strategy since that was made for no stops in case of weather spikes. Also if there will be same weather in qually that in race it’s right on the interns/wet limit so it could be interesting what people choose.
Anyway thanks again for bringing extra joy to this game and community!
I belive qualifying is always in the dry
Made it from 48th to 12th position after the last safety, happy about that, but not as happy about crashing in the first place. Cost me about 35 seconds and a top ten finish Congrats to mer_at at least
I would like to point it out to everyone, as a mocking gesture, That the 6L Bamford weighing in at 1299kg made the race on one stop, using less fuel than most other cars, and it was only overtaken twice on the last two laps…
Oh…
Eitherway, congrats to mer_at for another win and trollercoaster for a new land speed record.
Isn’t the race 200+km?
Then Trollercoaster was using 1kg of fuel every 400 meters…
How the…???
