BRC QuER - Hockenheim 1000 km 1976 [FINISHED]

@thecarlover, the error is right in the program window, your account user name has that slash above the e which is an unreadable character by the program. You will have to send your files to Der Bayer to compile or else use a different computer or account that has standard letters.
Ok, thanks.
So with -1.20°F, -1.80°R and 4.8% Wheelspin I should be fine.

Doing high 2:21’s at the moment.
2:21 with only 4.8% wheelspin O_O
how did you managed that?
So how do I load a trim into the BRC tool? All I get is this:
Did you delete the old brc 66 tool from the automation folder? That was the problem for me.

A whole afternoon of tinkering
I can post all the settings after the race if you want.

That’s an easy fix, easier than BobWiley said: I cannot fix it on my end, indeed it is a problem with the characters in your PC user name. Move your Cars, Engines and BRCTool folder to (for example) C: or anywhere else where your username is not in the path. Then it should work just fine.
also strop, what about going roleplay with GG and ‘tuning’ another competitor’s car? i think that would take some of the time needed to build a car.
although, you would still not learn as much, but you could still participate in the just for the fun portion of watching a race.
Lore wise, GG doesn’t exist until 2011 :stuck_out_tongue: but don’t worry about that!

My main problem is that as TheBobWiley shows above, the finetuning for this thing is really finnicky and a bit unpredictable. It just takes time finding the right combination, and only once you’ve latched onto a good thing can you really get something out of this. Or a lucky strike, but more often than not it needs to be beaten out of the game, like I used to do! But I simply can’t right now.

I get this error after selecting a trim.

could someone that is having these trim selection error try something?

try some other trim of a car that is not crashing the tool, then change the trim selection to the car trim you wanted. and see if that works.

if it does actually work, i think that might also give a clue of what to fix in the brctool for der bayer.

Doesn’t matter which trim I select - same error.

Remove old/unfinished car trim files from the folder and try again please.

I’m getting the same error since moving the folders to a path without an Ă© in it.

Edit: there are no other cars/trims in the folders

I just tried new RR pickup and I must say if I could get 3 cars in the race this would be it. Maybe it will even replace my pantera NA car. Light, cheap and really aerodynamic. I do not know how does automation calculate aero but sometimes it just doesn’t seem right. How can a pickup be this efficient when its clear that it should be a total mess?

worked, thx.

Will there be 3 races for which i can individually select strategies, or just do race 1?

Aero values are manually entered in the .lua files.

Then send me the normal Automation export and I will take a look.

Nevermind, I fixed it. There were 2 empty trims attached to the model for some reason, when I only made 1 trim.

Ah, good point. Okay, so weight, F/R weight distribution, F/R tyre size, camber (I always do equal F/R camber), and laps completed for both cars I tested, assuming I’m reading the .lua files correctly:

Ectophylla: 958.4 kg, 68.5/31.5, 195/265, -2.3°, 11 laps completed
HHR Special: 1095.4 kg, 67.6/32.4, 205/265, -2.0°, 12 laps completed

If I recall, both cars also have some first-gear wheelspin, some understeer at low speeds, much understeer at high speeds, and excess braking across almost the entire range.

Agreed. Even as one of those people with free time, I felt very rushed getting a car done in time for first testing.

Some of you take this way too seriously.
It’s a single race only, not the start of a whole season.

That is exactly how I see it. I made this to get the basic balance right and some of you spend way too much time on this. And then there’s always the risk of not finishing the race. I would be frustrated then, too.

Hmm, I see.

Well, on the one hand, you succeeded - I didn’t spend a lot of time on this relative to how radical the rules changes were.

On the other hand, this isn’t just one race, this is our first BROBOT endurance race. That’s actually really awesome, and I think that makes it feel more significant to me than it might otherwise. (Plus, it’s our first chance to try out this kind of ruleset, and every opportunity to test is golden. If we can do well here, that tells us a lot about what it might take to do well in the full '76 season.)
