Cestalis 1000km Multiclass Endurance - [RACE - PART 2]

2006 Cestalis 1000km

In 2006, Cestalis Raceway received extensive updates to it’s layout and facilities. The new circuit combined two smaller layouts into a new 5.1km Grand Prix layout. For the re-opening of the track, a new flagship race was needed. That’s how the Cestalis 1000km was born.

There are two clases in this race; GTC for modified sportscars and TCD for touring cars based on mass-produced cars While having the fastest car is a big advantage, you also need consistency and reliability if you want to win this race.

This first edition is sponsored by Tarske (aka me), which will also enter two cars into the GTC class.

HOW IT WORKS

The important stats for this challenge are:

  • Lap times: It’s racing, you need to go as fast as you can.
  • Drivability: If the car is too hard to drive, it will have a higher chance of crashing.
  • Sportiness: How much the car can be pushed. A higher sportiness will improve the base laptime.
  • Reliability: To finish first, you must first finish. The lower your reliability the higher the chance to lose time in the pits.
  • Fuel Economy: Cars that use more fuel will have to make more pits stops.

You can check the effects of your stats on this spreadsheet.

After the submission period closes, results will be published in several posts following this order:

  • Entry List for the race and Bins.
  • Free Practice. A laptime from a car of each team before applying modifiers.
  • Qualifying. Sets the starting order for the race and uses the laptimes after modifiers.
  • Race. The main event, it will be released in 4 parts with each one covering 1/4 of the race.

There will also be a community vote to decide which car has the best design.

  • No V16 engines.
  • Default techpool (Everything +5).
  • No negative quality.

  • Number panels have to be placed on both sides, just the number is enough on the hood and on the boot. You can reserve a race number for each of your cars. Available numbers.
Number panels

You can skip this rule, but it’s better if you do it. I will put the numbers myself if you don’t.

  • The following advanced settings are banned: Wheel width, wheel diameter, tyre width, tyre diameter, and camber.
  • A submission counts as a 2 car team. You can submit a different livery for each car.
  • If your car is under 75% of the maximum budget, you can request a third car. If for some reason you prefer having a one car team, you can request that too, but you wont get any benefits.
  • Meme entries will be binned without mercy.

Can you enter both classes, or are you locked into one class?

Edit: Removed because I just realized about stuff now.

I will participate in the competition, that’s for sure.

Edit 2: Why aren’t 345 mm width tires allowed in GTC? Because real life cars, be it street or track cars, they all usually have tire width ending with 5 mm. We don’t usually see even sized tires, especially 340 mm in specific. Maybe I’m wrong, but I know from all my life years that a lot of cars don’t have even sized width in the tires.

Is it possible for the max wheelbases of both classes to be extended? There are a lot of great bodies that could be used but the current rules are very limiting as to what we can make.

Where is the gap between “funny entry” and “meme entry”?
For example, would painting my car pink with mountain dew sponsors and garfield all over it get me binned?

Would I be allowed to take a 2.8m wheelbase car and shorten the wheelbase with advanced settings? I have a car that I was planning to use but its slightly too big.

So, I have a dumb question. Let’s say we manage to get a GTC entry below the $60k threshold. Instead of a third car could we enter a TCD car? Even if it is a single–car team? Also in the “dumb question” category, in GTC are we limited to actual production chassis like unibody and steel/aluminium based panels or can we go full-on tube frame & carbon?

EDIT: Didn’t realize Fayeding_Spray beat me to the first part of it.

Yes, you can enter both classes. That was supposed to be on the main post but I forgot. I’ll add it later.

Budgets are independent for each class.

By how much? I was thinking of extending it to 2.8 m since some of the inspirations are on the 2.70s

You can’t. But since the wheelbase limit is getting extended you don’t need to anyways

Because I thought 340 was a nice round number. I don’t see a need to change it, but if more people agree with you I’ll consider it.

In theory it should be a rule, but I thought it was too limiting, so we’re going to pretend everyone has a monocoque chassis

Sure, there have been some ridiculous irl liveries, just don’t overdo it.

Btw I’m allowing 2-door TCDs on a case by case basis.

This refers only to springs; the race cars must also have twin- or mono-tube dampers and passive sway bars.

I mean, as far as I know, the Dodge Viper has 345 mm rear tires, and I believe the Dodge Viper Competition Coupe displayed in the inspirations have the same, which is why I’m a little confused with this. You could make 350 mm wide tires maximum limit instead, if you want a better round number, because it’s even and it’s halfway between 300 and 400, like the 50 is between 0 and 100.

At least newer GT3 cars have 330 rears and 300 fronts and LMH have either 340 rears/290 fronts or 310 front and back. Or we could have a miximum width on one side and the choice is for the competitor how to split it front and back. Racing tire widths usually end in 0, not 5

It has 345mm tyres yes, but those are road tyres not racing slicks.

350 is too much, even 340 is pushing it.

Hmm, I’ve never seen it anywhere in the internet, because there is none to zero information there, but fair enough.

Well, I guess I’ll have to stick with the 340 mm tires. I thought even racing tires ended with 5 instead of 0, since I couldn’t find any information out there. I mean, the entire modern internet is missing sources of information, while you could find nearly anything like 10 or 15 years ago. But anyway, point taken.

2.8 metres sounds good looking at the inspirations

oh, the change was made lol

The budget caps only apply to the race cars; we do not need to submit a corresponding road car for each category we choose to enter.

Any emission/noise limits? Most tracks would limit those

that means I cant choose a car model from before 2006?

Currently no. I’ll think about it, but I probably won’t change it.

It means that you CAN choose a model from before 2006 but the trim and engine variant have to be from 2006.

Gonna enter but y’all know how I do with race cars :stuck_out_tongue:

is there anyway this could be lower?

this is already at like 4 but its at what they normal height should have been and im gonna cut these fender higher so the car can sit lower. and yea the ride height is as low as it can be rn. like the height isnt gonna change stats or anything but just make the car be lower unless your driving this in beam which this isnt a beam challange
