CSR146 - Real Shopping Round

Not completely true. The Corsa D still had drum brakes in the rear on some models for example, and in one way they are better on such light cars, disc brakes have a tendency to rust and seize due to being overpowered and rarely used to its full capacity. On the other hand vented FRONT discs almost seems like something of an obvious choice.

Nevertheless, active dampers and sway bars are not a mandatory requirement, and given the general style of judgment martin2005, I suggest that he should be banned from hosting competitions for 1 year.
This is all misleading, for an easy and biased reprisal against the participants.

not this bullshit all over again can we just chill

Nothing could be further from the truth - his writeups for this round have been as honest and informative as they could be.

Hey Buddy pal.

I would suggest to keep it civil and Shift down at least 3 Gears. Maybe even Hit Reverse and get Out of the thread

I don’t think that he has binned a single car for not having active damping and sway bars, so why is that even relevant?

Did bin partially for HAVING, which is IMO perfectly reasonable.

From completely irrelevant and incorrect accusations as well as no sense of politeness to everyone involved every single time, I think you should be banned from this community forever.

I’m having fun, it’s like very salty shit hitting a big ass fan. Now if you’d excuse me, I’m gonna get popcorn and continue watching.

I have things to say but out of respect for the forum I’ll just put it in my own thread. That’s probably the best way to express your view: outside the primary thread. But man there’s a lot to say.

Or, alternatively, you could go “Wow, that sucks.” and move on. If you really think there’s a problem voice it here, but for the love of god don’t just bitch for the sake of bitching. Take a bin as a learning experience, see what you did wrong versus other people and learn from that, don’t just overly aggressively complain when things don’t go your way.

Do you ever just, calm down? I think you’re overreacting. Go outside or something. NGL i think you’re the kind of guy that gets mad because you dont get past insta-bin or doesnt get his way.

There is also the language barrier, and the refusal of help. Thought I should mention that.

I Didn’t take that into consideration tbh. Needless to say that is the shortest suspension on this forum, most i’ve seen were until the year 3000.

OK, Kalan is muted now anyway so I suggest you to move on

As you were, gentlemen.

This user got suspended for this post*

Part two, these are the cars that mainly hit the right notes but for whatever reason have something that stops them being in the top six.

Round 2, cars I’m just not quite feeling.

Mitsushita Polly 1.5 RS @conan

The Polly is a very cute looking car with its almost smiling face front end. Sporting touches are kept on the lower side with a small front lip and rear roof spoiler, so the car does look rather on the plain side. The engine is a 1.5l inline 4 offering a decent power and torque level. The car seems very easy to drive due to the small size and the electric power steering. The chassis setup is on the basic side but offers good stats for the costs.

Hakumai Joy 1.3 GL @interior

The engineering is solid enough, and the car does come out at a good price but sadly the stats aren’t high enough as other cars just do everything better for not much more money. The mpg could have been improved quite a bit with more compression too, the engine runs on only 85.8 octane, also the car is only tuned for 91RON so even with higher compression you would have left power and economy on the table since i said aim for 95RON unleaded.

Saarland Felina II CabrioCoupé @Knugcab

An interesting choice with the hardtop convertible, overall the design doesn’t quite fit together well, the tail light shape seems odd and the tail pipes are i assume supposed to be false as they aren’t cut out of the body in any way. The car is quite quick considering the weight and manages to stop fairly well, i would have preferred better slow speed cornering ability too. I have a bit of a qualm with the roof choice too, as it is a removable hardtop meaning if you travel out somewhere and leave your roof at home your kinda shit out of lu.ck if it starts to rain

Niichi Avid NT-X @MisterRocketMan

Like the Pecan the Avid has some engineering choices that don’t quite gel with what I want. The engine is well tuned and makes plenty of power and is economical. The plain steel panels and chassis leave the car liable to corrosion problems in the near future. The premium interior, variable hydraulic steering and six speed automatic gearbox are a bit too on the fancy and energy sapping side for this type of vehicle.

Taimania Hatchy Sport Spec-R @desperatedonut5

Not going to lie this car is somewhat upsetting to me. I absolutely love the design, everything works so well together it is like a tiny rally car. The engineering however does let it down a bit. The engine is good and offers very useable power and torque, this would have been improved if tuned for 95RON instead of 91 though. The comfort is far too low though because of the basic interior with low end cd player. The hydraulic power steering also saps power and economy from the engine.

RĂ©gal Lion 1.4L Sport @karhgath

The design works really well for the time period and style of car, especially the front end treatment. The wheels are too much on the small side however, and are extremely tucked in to the body making them look even smaller. For the larger size of the car the use of +2 rear seats with a premium interior seems a strange fit. The reliability is joint top place and the comfort is also pretty good considering the +2 rear seats and the standard rate springs used.
(I do note that +2 is the largest this body will take which seems like a bug to me with a 2.36m wheelbase length)

AMS Autan 1.6 S 3-door @abg7

Not offensive in any way but also doesn’t really stand out as anything more than a base model hatchback. The engine has no problems and is powerful enough and economical enough, the 6 speed gearbox is a nice addition in this class of car. The chassis engineering choices are solid but also on the unexciting side leading to a slightly lower 20m cornering speed than the top cars and also a longer braking time even with very large brakes used front and rear.

Wichsen Luna Sport 1.5 @LS_Swapped_Rx-7

The Luna Sport was close to being in my top list of cars, with just a couple of things letting it down. The design is very grown up, it hasn’t got the weird design touches of some other cars but it manages to look sporty enough and modern. The engine is running too close to the piston stress limit, causing the rev limiter to cut off right where the engine is making maximum power which is undesirable during driving. increasing the bore and reducing the stroke would have solved this issue, otherwise the engine would have been pretty good. Active suspension of any kind is a step too far in this price range too, standard suspension would have saved quite a bit of money and not caused the car to be at the very top of the limit.

Salon Petit 1.4 Super @Mad_Cat

The Salon Petit manages to both look extremely cute and also sporty at the same time. The blacked out lights and grille contrast nicely with the yellow paint colour. The side skirts and front bumper design are a nice touch. The lightweight engine offers plenty of power and also decent economy for its size, it is a tad on the loud side however with a very sporting exhaust setup. 0-100km/h speed is competitive, however the narrow tyres used let down the slow speed cornering and braking performance compared the the Petit’s peers. The real killer here for the Petit is the driveabilty which is being negatively affected by bottoming out, this has been caused by the use of lips as side skirts and then leaving the downforce at the default values. If the downforce had been turned down to 0 and some kind of bumper bar used as the skirts the car would have fared very well as it does a lot whilst still being massively under the budget cap.

Damn, I could have sworn I put the selector on a retractable hardtop. Oh well, shit happens.

Aw, I figured the automatic gearbox was probably too much. Oh well! Good luck to the remaining builders!
