CTC - Car Tycoon Challenge #6 - 1955 [RESULTS]

Here is one of my cars, seen with a revolutionary 2.0 Diesel engine with IDI , 50 hp and a whopping 109 Nm tq.
This is actualy a tribute to Mercedes for introducing the D in road cars and they sold far more of those than they did the petrol versions. It was slow and required an elaborate procedure to start, but it used 50 to 65 % less fuel than an equivalent petrol and besides this diesel fuel was readily available as opposed to gasoline and it cost only one quarter of it.

Presenting MGCC’s 1955 Entries for CTC6

The first up is the MGCC Mythic, a two seater, available with V8 and I6 engines to make up range of 4 cars from Sports to Touring.
In 1956, when Mythic was spun out into it’s own brand, this model was renamed and formed it’s base line up.

Next up is the MGCC Model M mkII, MGCC’s mass market model with I4 and I6 engines and 3 trim levels.

… DIESEL? I didn’t think that was in the game yet… or are you just simulating it by the way you’re building your engine?

Yeah, he’s simulating it, because I’ve tried to make torque focussed engines using the heavy cast stuff and that’s the result; no power OR torque! :geek:

Kudo’s to Darkjedi though as I’d personally rather shoot myself (figuratively speaking) than build an engine so boring!

yes, it’s just a simulation. the techyear is 1970.

I only used the ordinary forged stuff. the heavy cast stuff is useful for building large 6.0 < l engines in the 40s and 50s

Come on people! Where are all the submission?
You still have some days to work on it  keep it coming!

23 entries so far, which isn’t bad, and there are usually more closer to the deadline. If I knew that figures were going to be like this right now I might have increased the sizes of the factories, which I feel I mucked up anyway.

Here are my entries, again one for the cheaper market and one for GT/luxury/supercar.

I have an idea for what to enter for this competition, but Seishido only got founded in 1956, so closeee

Maybe they are the last cars designed by your chief engineer at his old firm before he left to join Seishido

Is that allowed?

Nope. I didn’t receive an entry from him, so no worries.

Or alternately a “1956” model that is released in early 1955, using 1955 tech. (as in, a 1956 in label only, but the car is built as a '55)

Am I missing something very obvious, or is getting something to even qualify as a supercar quite difficult? Admittedly I haven’t done a huge amount of tweaking, but the best I’ve managed for sportiness so far is in the high 20s (it does qualify as a supercar, but not by very much)

That makes sense since the term “supercar” wasn’t even coined until the 70’s with the Lamborghini Countach. The 50’s and 60’s were about GT’s as trains were too inflexible and aeroplanes too cramped for the gentleman of means to be seen in. GT’s allowed cross continent cruising at your own pace and they were elegant, powerful and classy conveyances that not many people could afford

By the same token, “hot hatches” didn’t exist until what, the 80’s and 90’s? But very easy to make one in the 50’s. minus, you know, the hatch part of it.

Exactly! I see the headings as guidelines and statements-of-intent rather than rigid categories. This is why I don’t really mind that people from all categories end up buying cars outside of their assigned category; This stuff happens in real life

Agreed. My Ferrari 250 GT “EuREPLICA” - which I did not submit - had a sportiness of 26.9. I can’t think of anything more exotic/sporty for the time. The average sportiness of all 8 cars I created was 7.7.

Building a supercar (without penalties on score) in this round requires some skill, yes. But always remember that the limits in the buyer group overview are soft limits. If you have a car with 24 sportiness it will still sell in the supercar group, but with a small penalty on the score. The further away you are from the limit, the bigger the penalty becomes and the less you will sell.

of course it’s not allowed. That engine was just for shows. the “real” car has a completely different engine.
