Dilessi S.p.A. (578 SE Violento '80 Update)

Thank you

@DeusExMackia: The stripes ant the text are photo editing. Especially on a white car it´s easier to make. I made a new layer on top of the body and changed the settings of the layer to “multiply”. Afterwards i cutted out the body and thats it.

It´s also possible to make on top of the body, cut out the areas you want and set that only painted areas can be color changed. Then make a new screenshot from exactly the same angle with a different car color and paste it into this layer. It will only display the areas defined before with the new color. If your body isn´t white, i would recommend this method. Because you can easily turn white into red by “multiplying”, but it´s not possible to turn red into white. Or at least you will just get light red or light pink. But never white. And this will happen to all colors. Imagine painting on a sheet of paper. You´ll get the color you are using if you paint directly on the white paper. But if you painted it green and you´re painting red on it, you´ll get brown instead of red.

2 screenshots on each other are like having a green sheet of paper and a red sheet of paper. You cut out the sections of the red sheet of paper you want and glue it on the green sheet of paper. This time red will be red.

Thanks for the tips! That’s a really nice guide. Just wanted some advice on how you did it, one of the problems I’ve had with making liveries and painting cars is that I can never do them at an angle, never quite looks right. But now they will look amazing! Thanks

KHT keimola was faster 2 years prior. It was also 73% more on fire on each occasion, and has bancrupted the company, so not impressed!

JK  The 655 looks really good, the choice of a v12 is not something i’d agree with, but i can not argue with the results, the thing is awesome.

Meh, typical German (I know you’re not), too pragmatic :stuck_out_tongue:
Joking, although I’d like a V12 in some Hypera, I wouldn’t use it either. It wouldn’t fit both the company lore and AWD.

On topic - Dilessis are great. They have that vibe of exotic Italian supercars

Zis ist nicht true! Vi haff spreadsheetzen to proof v8 saves weights! JA!

:joy: Auch wenn ich das “spreadsheetzen” nicht verstehe. Vielleicht spreche ich es zu deutsch aus.

@V12: Maybe it´s not the wisest choice, but a V8 in the late 70´s/early 80´s is to boring. ^^ And maybe is the font of the car data not the best, but it´s an RWD. Italian AWD? Dilessi isn´t bought by a german mainstream car company.

After the Lombardi body shop was bought in 1979, Dilessi was able to build it´s bodys in Vercelli, while the rest of the car and the assemblance was made in the old headquarter in Viano. As a result it was possible to build the 655 and the new medium sized sports car "Dilessi 555 ‘Fazoletto’ " at the same time. Because Dilessi still made profit the Viano factory became bigger to three different models at the same time from 1982 on, while Vercelli was set to became also a little bit bigger to produce two models at a time. A GT Sports Coupe, a Grand Tourer and a small and less powerfull car are set to complete the whole line up for the next decades.

1980 Dilessi 555 ‘Fazolletto’ $22.890 / 39.630DM / 18.460.198₤ITL

In 1980 the new 555 model was released. The car was set to be a little less exclusive, than the 655 and with less comfort. Even the engine was a smaller 3.0L cast iron V8 (DSPA-DD2-C4P), but with a better power output. In order to that, the 555 had 1 hp gained compared to the 655, but over 50 Nm less torque. Still the car was sporty and even better to drive.

The direct competitor is the Ferrari 308 GTB. It has 10 hp more, can go 10 km/h faster, but also weights over 400 kg more and needs 7.7 seconds from 0-100 km/h compared to the 6.3 seconds by the Dilessi 555. But Dilessi still didn´t care about top speed and power, but wants to have a perfect aerodynamic on the car. This results in a fully neutral handling and a 2:23.4 on the test track…the 655 needed one second more.

But the power output has a negative side: The 555 needs 13.1 l/100km. Dilessi hinted that a second version of the model will be build, to fix this problem. “Our cars shouldn´t only excite, they should also fit economical in it´s time”, said Emilio Dilessi. “We have very good engineers and they will show, that we can keep the power and save fuel at the same time.”

Those side intakes are beyond gorgeous. What a stunning car.

1981 Dilessi 455 ‘Rapido Dorso’ $15.600 / 30.650DM / 14.504.230₤ITL

The first of two new models introduced in 1981 is the 455 ‘Rapido Dorso’. Dilessi made a notchback sports coupe to be competitive on the american pony car market. The 455 is joined by a big 5L V8 (DSPA-DF2-C4P) with 169 hp and nearly 400 Nm.

Even the Ferrari 208 GTS has just 155 hp and ‘tiny’ 170 Nm. The 455 is not only 2 km/h faster, but at least 3 seconds quicker from 0-100 km/h by needing just 5.9 seconds. Even a Shelby GT500 would need at least 7 seconds, while having 340 hp and about 600 Nm.

The 455 is nearly as comfy as the 555, but this time the car is much more economic to reach more costumers. While 9.3 l/100km is nothing for the record books, it´s way less thirsty than the Shelby or Ferrari 208. Both need over 10 l/100km.

The car still became an exotic bird in america, because it was twice as expensive as a Ford Mustang. Nonetheless it became a popular sports car in europe. I.E. a Ferrari with the same car data costs at least $50.000. Because of this, Dilessi reached it´s production limits in 1981 and was looking for a new engine shop. Rumours said that Dilessi is going to buy Carrozzeria Fissore based in Torino to build it´s engines there. Also according to rumours Dilessi will use this engine shop to start it´s comeback in racing by building Formula 3 and Forumla 2 engines.

Another great looking car. Really like what you’ve done with the not-Porsche body, mainly because you’ve actually made it not look like a Porsche.

Is the engine in the rear or the front?

It was my goal to let it not look like a Porsche. It´s kinda boring to make exactly what the model is made for. I try to think outside the box.

Engine in the front? That is possible? There is the trunk…
The engine is, of course, in the back

Some previews today.

The first will be the 1981 Dilessi 355 Competizione:

The Exterior is finished, but i´m still tuning the everything under it´s skin. It has to fit, otherwise i´m not happy with the result.

The second preview is my longtime project, the Dilessi 1000. I´ve started this project in March 2016 and always tried to build a reliable, useful 1000 hp and 1000 Nm engine in a 1000 kg car. It´s still way too tricky to drive…but one day it´ll be finished.
But today i was (for the first time in all these month) not trying to fix everything. Instead i was working on the exterior and i´m able to let you have a first look. It is just the first exterior design version, things are going to be changed.

1969 - Dilessi 525 ‘Stravaganza Evoluzione’ $43.200 / 172.800DM / 26.950.000₤ITL
Well, i´m back. The fog is lifted, the earth is shifted and raise the gifted. I´ve started all over to make a step before the 535. The Dilessi 535 will stay here for now, but will be changed to the 525 step by step. The new DSPA-DC1-ITP engine is more powerful, to get the same results the ‘old’ 535 had. But there are so much changes with all those updates in between that it was impossible to get the same car by using the same engine.

The 525 SE will stay a good handling sports car. Even it offers not much comfort, you won´t recognize much over-/understeer. Chassis is a bit stiff for a sunday drive, but will give the driver all informations he need and keeps the car stable.

Also the interior is much improved. The handcrafted leather seats and a luxury radio will now feature inside. A hydraulic power steering and a modern safety package will also be a new standard for Dilessi cars.

The gearbox will stay the same, but from 0-100 km/h the 525 SE is now about 1.9 seconds slower than the Ferrari 365 GTB/4, while the top speed is slower than the Maserati Ghibli. Even with all pros, this will bring the car behind Ferrari, Maserati and Lamborghini. But the 525 SE was just a ‘remake’ and Dilessi already announced to work on the 525 Stravaganza Evo Brutale for 1972. The 525 SEB will be build to pass the opponents and bring Dilessi back on top.

At the same time the factory will now be able to build different models at the same time. Dilessi will release it first Grand Tourer already in 1969.

I remember you made some great engines back in Kee!

Thanks. I´ll try to reactivate the old engine shop. But for now there are so much new things to learn. I will not share right now, because the quality isn´t were i want it to be. Maybe in the next weeks, while getting back in the game with more new cars.

1969 - Dilessi 635 ‘GT’ $31.400 / 125.600DM / 19.590.000₤ITL
In 1969 Dilessi released its first grand tourer, the Dilessi 635 GT. Even it was cheaper than the 525, it was still a very expensive car.

But it was worth every penny. Four handmade luxury leather seats were equipped and it even had a phonograph. The hydraulic power steering system was used from the 525 SE, while it was Dilessis first car with an automatic 3 point seat belt as basic euqipment. The focus was to increase active and passive safety.

Also the new 4989cc V8 was built to be more economical, than its ‘little brother’ from the 525. At the same time the DSPA-DF1-D2P engine is more powerful and can handle the 1.6t heavy car very good. While using more aluminium than before, the 635 GT is able to acclerate from 0-100 km/h as quick as the Ferrari 365 GT and the Aston Martin DB6 MkII. Also the top speed placed the car just a tiny bit behind the opponents, while carrying more weight and beeing as economical as the Ferrari.

Overall the Dilessi 635 was a very good start in this segment for the company. Only its expensive price had a bland taste. All 601 units were sold, but Dilessi is aware of the pricing.

1972 - Dilessi 525 ‘Stravaganza Evoluzione Brutale’ $55.200 / 180.400DM / 32.780.000₤ITL

Three years after the 525 SE the engineers finished the work on the new 525 SE Brutale. The goal was to match Ferrari 365 GTB/4, Masearti Ghibli and Lamborghini.

To reach that goal Dilessi worked on the DSPA-DC1-ITP engine to get a plus of 25 hp. But while the chassis stayed about the same, it was also possible to lower the weight by 245 kg. Together with a new suspension setting, an optimized gearbox and better materials it was also possible to make the car more reliable. At the same time the lower weight made the car more economical, while providing more top speed and a better accleration.

But everything has it´s price. The 525 SE was already extremely expensive, the 525 SE Brutale will be even more expensive. Dilessi will build 525 units from 1972 to 1975.

In the last days i overhauled the whole opening post to this thread. In order to do this i recreated all old cars and tried to match them as close as possible. Some old pictures are deleted…they were just to ugly.
But now the post is way more structured and cleaner. Also it gives a better overview and reduces loading times. Many pics (also 4k pics) are nice, but with my internet connection it´s feels like days to load everything. Even this thread was starting to make problems and i don´t like to wait to much to see something.

And also it´s not anymore so much chaos and even i can find easier what i´m looking for. At the same time i was reminded myself the company lore. After the first big engines it was quickly explored, that power and capacity isn´t everything. The 336B was the first car to realise that. But the biggest impact still has the 418B Coupe 1300LR. By dropping over 52% of the power and 67,5% capacity it produced a much better and sportier car. Dilessi will stick to that in the feature.

1975 - Dilessi 542 ‘Targa’ $32.900 / 79.300DM / 21.350.000₤ITL
542_1

Description

The 542 Targa will be the successor to the 525. For the first time Dilessi build the engine transverse, while the engine is still smaller than those the companies competitors use. At the same time it will produce 282 hp. Thats close to the Porsche 911 Turbo.

And speaking of the german competitor: The Dilessi 542 is able to produce 6 km/h more top speed, but because of the lack of a turbo the Porsche can acclerate 1.2 seconds faster to 100 km/h. But that wasn´t the goal for Dilessi.

The 542 had to be less expensive, than its predecessor (the 525) and even the price dropped by about $23.000, it was still an expensive car. But there was another reason to get the 542 atop of it´s opponents. While also the Ferrari 308 GTB had better car stats, Dilessi wanted a car that´s more designed for the driver and the passenger. The hydropneumatic suspension was overhauled completely with new springs and dampers by Magnetti Marelli. Just for Dilessi Brembo designed new vented disc brakes for the front and rear. The interior wasn´t leather for the first time. Isotta Fraschini designed a mix out of alcantara and mahogany for the most luxury feeling. Graziano Trasmissioni worked on a new and better gearbox, Fondmetal S.p.A. delivered the alloy wheels.

1977 - Dilessi 542 ‘Coupe’ $39.600 / 93.600DM / 34.700.000₤ITL
542c_1

Description

The 542 Coupe was a facelift to the Targa. Mainly Dilessi worked on the engine to become a more economical car without loosing power. The engineers reached that goal by keeping 282 hp and lowering the mileage by nearly 8 l/100km.

Despite loosing 14 Nm of torque the car was now able to acclerate 1.5 seconds faster from 0-100 km/h, by beeing just 1 kg lighter.

In overall it also made the Coupe much more drivable and reliable. The engine reacted much smoother and this also granted much more comfort.

This resulted in a higher price, but because of the inflation the 542 Coupe became an easier to acquire car. But this doesn´t mean it was cheap, e.g. the luxury BMW 733i costed less than half of the 542 Coupe.

1978 - Dilessi 542 ‘Coupe GTS Competizione’ $46.600 / 98.100DM / 40.600.000₤ITL
542gts_1

Description

One year after the Coupe, Dilessi revealed the 542 Coupe GTS Competizione. This is the top trim of the 542 and the engineers raised the power to 301 hp. Even the torque was now 37 Nm higher than in the coupe.

But also the weight was raised by 25 kg, the GTS was nearly able to acclerate from 0-100 km/h in under 5 seconds. Overall it was a bit faster while consuming just 0.5 l/100km of fuel more. At the same time the GTS was now the most powerful car Dilessi build so far.

The 542 model will now come to an end as there will be released a premium sports car model from 1980 on. Meanwhile the BMW M1 was more expensive.

1946 - Dilessi 315B ‘Stabilimenti Viano’ $ n/a
315b_1

Description

At the beginning of the year, this barn find turned up. The 315B was built in 1946 twice. A special order went to the Italian racer Achille Varzi. Two years later, the vehicle was found completely burned down at a service area.

The second car went to an American businessman and seemed to have disappeared since then. The car reappeared in good condition and was bought back by Dilessi. Dilessi has completely restored the car to its original condition. The unsaleable copy is now in the factory in Viano.

This Berlinetta was not only a custom-made, but also designed more for the racetrack than the road. The small 1.5 liter V12 has produced a whopping 114 hp, while the vehicle weighed only 950kg and was thus far superior to the 336B ‘Sport Coupe’ in terms of sportiness.
