Dragon Engineering

Here’s something I’d like to do more often, the radical, extreme, and far-out. Sure, it may not be a record breaker, but it’s quick. It’s not got the handling of a European car, but it’s got the excitement of an American car instead. What did you say, assists? Never heard of such a thing. This car is purely American, power, poor handling, and lots of fun.

It’s called the Dragon Unleashed. It’s a concept car. It’s as fast and powerful as a Bugatti Veyron, as hard to control as a Dodge Viper, and is as vulgar as a Chevrolet Corvette. This is the essence of the American supercar, and it’s also the essence of burning rubber around a corner that you’re oversteering into a tree. The power is at a phenomenal 1030 horsepower, the top speed is approximately 245 mph, and the body is made purely of carbon fiber. Dragon Engineering is hoping to start a racing team with their first car based on the Dragon Unleashed, except tamer, quicker, and lighter. Here are some pictures:

Please provide input, and I’d also kind of like to know why I’m not getting any input or anything. I’ve tried really hard to make some quality cars and it feels like I’m being overlooked because I’m a noob or something. Dunno, maybe my cars just suck or I’m just overreacting. Either way, this is the Unleashed, which has had approximately 9 or 10 hours put into it. The body was rebuilt from scratch once with specific parts being taken apart and rebuilt two or three times by now. Being that it is a concept, by the time the official 2015 Dragon Unleashed is released, it’ll probably be different, and when the Dragon Unleashed X comes out solely for racing, it’ll be even different with lips, a bigger engine, and more.

One last thing is, how do you make a good race car? I’ve made fast supercars, and I’ve tried making quick cars, in quartermiles, Green Hell times, and Automation Airfield times yet they’re all 1:17 or slower. Is there something I’m just missing, or is it a case of practice makes perfect?

Edit: 1:17 is the Automation Airfield time. I’ve seen people get 1:10 on a PRODUCTION car, which beats the Huayra yet I can barely break 1:18.http://i.imgur.com/jmBnftr.jpg

There are no stats which make it impossible to comment. Tameness? Weight? Production units? Unless you only want feedback on the appearance. Anyone can make a 1000 hp car by having a large engine and turning the quality to 15 - hence the forum’s general ‘meh’ to such engines as there is nothing special about them.

The majority of companies, regularly updated or not, tend to be a little quiet until they pick up steam. Else they have some amazing or striking or controversial image or vision. Also forum activity waxes and wanes and dipped a lot over Christmas, and I don’t know if its picked up again fully yet. I’m here mainly coz this is my main procrastination hobby :stuck_out_tongue:

If you like I can take a look at the car and see what the deal with your car is. Note this game heavily penalises turbo MR cars on technical tracks, of which Airfield is particularly so. In fact MR is just generally tricky to tune. Just feel free to pm me the .lua model file.

I’ll put up the stats tommorrow, because I’ve gotta go to bed right now since I’m tired. It’ll probably be later in the day since I’m finishing up on tweaking them. On the topic of tweaking them, that’s why their not up. Just, at the moment I wanted appearance feedback since I know a wee bit about tuning, but less about good looking cars, and being that it’s a concept my primary concern was the looks.

I’ll also send you the lua strop when I’ve got the stats up so we can figure out that situation. It’s got Jackgoe’s modpack just so you know.

I don’t know if a month is considered necroing around here (so if it is, sorry), but with the release of the Steam port and new update, I thought I’d come on with a few announcements. One, I’m not dead, I’ve just been uninspired lately and been unable to make a good car design, or bring myself to put my best ones over the past month up on the forum, because frankly, I haven’t gotten much feedback on my old ones, and it’s hard to improve on a lack of feedback… For two, I’m going to start putting up my engines on a separate thread in the Engines section. Three, I’m hoping to get up a new car later this evening, but it may be tomorrow or even as late as Monday. It really depends upon how much I get done tonight and how long my bowling tournament is tomorrow.
