Engine Designer Demo - OFFICIAL BUGS THREAD

Anyone who has Crashes/Bugs in the engine designer demo - POST HERE

First.
Automation crashed on alt-tab.

automation demo crashed at the launcher and wont make it any farther than that.

Alt+tabbed out to write this, no problem.

Cant take a screenshot in the game with ‘Print Screen’. Trying to paste it in either Photoshop or MSpaint it just comes up as a black window.
The ‘Take Photo’ button dont work (nothing happens?)

No problems Alt+tabbing.

Tutorial videos not playing all the way to the end.

also noticed this one

I will note that when Daffy showed us some videos on the Livestream, they too clipped at the end. Perhaps an end-of-video splash so we know it’s finished?

Not exactly a bug with the game, but AVG Internet security 2012 gives a false positive on the launcher and gave me some problems when i downloaded the launcher by deleting it. Just temporarely disable AVG until it’s downloaded and added to exeption list

Sadly, the demo won’t go past the launcher on my XP machine. Will make it into the game on my Windows 7 machine, but not all the options are available once in there. For example, there are almost no options to choose in the “exhaust” tab, and several missing in the other tabs.

I can get into the game but the gameplay is PAINFULLY slow, scenarios won’t load, crashes when I try to select a piston type.

when i start the demo, theres nothing i can pick to built a motor

Not playable on my old 1024x768 screen. The minimum display resolution seems to be higher.
Works ok with an other display.

my computer shuts down due to overheating.
I tested on my work machine (3d cad drawing “autodesk inventor”) HP EliteBook 8740w - and have never had that problem before.
but noted that the machine was surprisingly hot … .

this machine runs smoothly BF3 and Skyrim.

But I will test tomorrow morning on my game machine …(my game machine is a real desktop. not portable/movable like my work computer)

it is possible overheating can be caused by other problems … but will check a bit further out tomorrow … as I planning to use all of tomorrow to test the game

insanely great game …
Love the game …

Minor scoring issue in scenarios - power possibly not scored correctly.

Engine 1:
300 hp peak
Very good powerband, lots of smooth power all through the revs.

Engine 2:
301 hp peak
Terrible powerband, peaky and very little power at all other revs. Consistently 20 hp down on Engine 1 until race cam kicks in.

Engine 1 still scores higher on the power criteria. This is technically correct… But not ideal. Hopefully you can see what I’m getting at. I mean no disrespect to you guys or the fantastic work that you’ve done, but this seems a little… broken.

Thanks

Have you checked what technology year you have set as this will limit options if too low?

Only problem I’ve noticed is with the tutorials finishing slightly earlier clipping the last word or so.

wont let me choose 1680 x 1050 reolution

Upon demo startup.

“Exception on Automation Exit, Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt”

The directX part of the install tripped my anti-virus program’s trojan detector, and I wasn’t able to fix the issue. While the anti-virus program gave me a dialog box with choices and 30 seconds to decide, my system decides to freeze up for at least 45 seconds, so it defaulted to some action that caused the install to fail. I’m not sure if that failure is indeed the cause of the exception I get when I try to start up the demo.

Had a string error in the Jeep Scenario on the Fuel System tab under Carb System & Config.

Update: Tested the demo on a system that didn’t have any problems during its install process. I’m getting the EXACT SAME exception.

Update: Okay, NOW it stopped doing that. I guess it’s back to “Install Issue”
