Engine Designer Demo - OFFICIAL BUGS THREAD

In spinning faster I can’t equip the car with a catalytic converter no matter what technology year I use. I can’t pass the scenario without them. The best I can get emissions down to without it is .3lb

Yep, known bug, that scenario starts with leaded selected but you can’t tell it is, so you need to select and unselect leaded fuel, fix coming with next major patch

Game hates being full screen, alt-tabbed, and absolutely despises running smoothly.

I don’t get it. 1 TB harddrive, 8 GB RAM, Windows 7, Nvidia 9600 GT, quad core 3.3ghz AMD processor… It’s not ideal, but it runs much more intense games with no hesitation. Automation seems to lag constantly for some reason.

The dyno graph sometimes goes apeshit. The torque curve for instance… will be huge… and outside of the graph taking up half my screen. hahah

I will complete a scenario and click on “more scenarios” or whatever when i win the bronze metal (I suck, haha) and it won’t show up as complete on the scenario screen meaning I have to redo it.

Just some weird bugs and issues I’ve come across.

That should run fine, I wouldn’t run the viewport resolution slider at the crazy high setting as a 9600GT probably won’t cope. but you should still get a fair few FPS and such. Alt tabbing should be fine too… Very odd.

Could you maybe take a screenshot of your graphics settings screen, let us know what FPS you’re getting, and also send us a DXDIAG.txt? maybe we can work out what’s going on there…

How much is the demo if you get it

Ohh, it is 2 apples, one Bratwurst and a silver coin.
No, but seriously, what do you mean? Download size? Price?

Game is running fine now after clean install. Must have just been a software issue somewhere.

Noticed a few minor graphical bugs while building some awesome V8s…
The standard air cleaners for the twin DCOE setup are invisible and there’s no water pump shaft on pushrod V8s, just a floating pulley.

Knew about the DCOE one, but well spotted on the water pump!

In Kazakh Taxi the technology years should be locked to 1995. If you slide exhaust technology year to 1940, then test, and after that put it back to 1995 and test again you can get more hp -> ~150 more score.

Yes, that is a known issue and it will be fixed

Not sure if it’s really a bug, but the V8 engine sound is a bit choppy while revving up, especially at low to medium rpm’s.
Sounds like vro-oo-ooo-oooo-ooooo-ooooo instead of vrooooooooooooooooooom
Roaming the camera around shows it’s best noticeable if you watch the engine from the front side.
The increase in rpm is also not very smooth, it seems to hop in 100 rpm jumps, maybe that explains the choppy sound!

Zeussy or Daffyflyer may correct me if I’m wrong, but this sounds like a performance issue. Could you try to run on absolute minimum settings (if you don’t do that already), and see if that makes things better.

Does it sound the same in the videos we’ve posted? If not I suspect it might be doing it due to a poor framerate.

Out of interest, could you try turning the graphics settings all the way down and turning off Ambient Occlusion? My suspicion is that all the audio glitches will go away. If not though we might have other issues, so if you could test it out that’d be great

Turning off ambient occlusion has done it, sound ist waaaaay better now, thanks!
Framerate/performance shouldn’t be an issue as my system package is quite strong.
Btw, whats the purpose of ambient occlusion? What goodies offers it’s activation?

Ambient occlusion gives nice shadows/shading on everything and generally makes it all look a lot nicer, has a massive performance impact though.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Screen_Spa … _Occlusion

I can’t even select that scenario

I notice a very large performance difference between “play demo” and “play game” (ie to get the V8 scenarios) - clicks on buttons get missed a lot and it just generally takes longer to shift between screens etc.

Which seems slow, play game or play demo?

‘Play Game’. Though I noticed that even the ‘Play Demo’ can be sped up by lowering the quality (has lots of artifacts though, still).

Re my comment above about not being able to pick a particular scenario it seems that in Demo the third slot from the left, top row, is not selectable in each set of scenarios; it also seems to not remember the settings in the 4th slot. Interestingly (and this may be my fuddled lat night recall) I thought I last played the 4th slot, demo scenario in demo - which doesn’t remember it, but it correctly shows up in Game, but as ‘spinning faster’ which I can’t select in Demo. (Now I’m questioning my sanity/memory!)
