My team mate is currently travelling, so I’m waiting to finalise the cars we do have built. Will we get a couple of days warning before the deadline closes?
Additional question: when you say “steel”, for the chassis, do you mean steel only, or can we use AHS/Galvanised?
Yes, you will get a warning before the deadline closes. It’ll probably be 3 days before the deadline.
AHS/Galvanised is something you may use, it goes under ‘‘Steel’’. Godd luck guys!
The Automation Endurance Challenge - Entry Name of your team:Agillio Car Company Racing Division (ACCRD) Name of team members:LoucurasdoPortal Class(es):GT2
Are there any restrictions as far as quality sliders? I get for the motor it is limited to price and hours, but in terms of body and car, what are the restrictions?
No restrictions for quality sliders. As for the engine that is restricted by price and hours, as you said. The platform and car itself has no quality slider restrictions either.
The deadline for singing up your team is on the 6th of August 23:59 London time.
The deadline for sending in your car(s) is on the 7th of August 23:59 London time.
IMPORTANT! I will not send out any reminders to anyone that has signed up for this challenge. If you don’t send in your cars then you’re not
in the competition. If you or your team has signed up for two or more classes, but only sends in one car for one class, then I
will not write DNF in the class(es) you didn’t send in a car for. If this happens, you have simply not entered the class(es) in the competition itself
even though you signed up the the class(es).
This competition/challenge was open for entries a long time ago, and it has taken a long time to get it started. I apologize if you think it should
be finished some weeks back. I would also like to add that there is a very small chance that I may cancel this event, but most likely it won’t happen.
I will tell you if that happens.
That last entry was sent in before the deadline if anyone had plans on complaining about that. Just going trough all the files and the last entries now.
**In the main post with the event info, I wrote this: **
Naming your engine: You’ll have to send in your engine, platform and the model (platform with right setup and correct engine) when you’re done. To make it easy for me to find out what engine belongs
to what team, here is a naming system just to make it easy:
(Name of your team) (engine name, optional) (class)
My engine is for example called: Traxx Racing TxR V8fp 4.5-350 GT2
That is my GT2 engine, for my team called Traxx Racing
Model/platform naming: (Team name) (platform/model name) (class) just like the engine naming system
Interesting to check how many of you who actually read through this… and did it. Just some extra details for those of you who can’t remember reading this on the main post: I added it a week after I released the post (about 1 week after) and I am pretty sure I told you guys once to read through the event details with the updates. It’s not a big problem if you didn’t follow this naming system though, but it just makes it easier for me
I am now doing the hard work to find out which place the different cars finished in (in their own class, not total). I am currently working on the GT2 class. It takes a bit of time to go through all the cars and engines, but I am slowly getting there. But I have noticed one thing. I have checked the cars and engines from 4 different teams so far in the GT2 class, and only one had selected ‘‘Advanced’’ for safety. There was no restrictions for safety so it is fine, and I understand why most of you selected none at safety, because it affects weight. Before I started checking the cars I was thinking about giving a penalty for low safety, but I have figured out that I will only do it if more than 50 % have chosen basic or higher safety. It makes sense to have some safety. Crashing at high speed can be fatal, and these days safety is important in most racing events.
I did think about the safety, and in the end, prisoner’s dilemma won.
Given that this is a competitive challenge, I could safely bet that the majority of people would want to maximise their competitive edge by saving on weight where it was not specified necessary. Safety, while in a real world setting is important, was not specified as a factor in this simulated world, therefore I could also bet that most other people would also think the same way and ultimately choose not to add any safety measures. From that point of view I’m surprised that anybody selected it at all.
Also it would have been rather unfair not to specify something and then include it as a factor in the game mechanic. It creates a lot of drama precisely because this is a competitive event! (You should have seen what happened in the first major tournament, when the host belatedly learnt about how the aero fixtures worked and had to change the rules 2 days before deadline…)
