Featherweight Fury - [Rules Delib until ~13/05/2026]

Sander is 36 years old. He has seen the car industry stray away from the core principles of a sports car: lightweightness and nimbleness. He has thus decided to go look for a niche category in the current car scene. However he isn’t looking for a Miata or a BRZ. No, Sander wants a car that is both light and nimble but also has enough power to get up hills without losing speed. And for that car, he has some money to spend.

Rules

  • Family name, both car and engine: FF - [your username]
  • Techpool limit: 75 Million (This is the sum of the techpool for engine and car)
  • Maximum price: $90.000
  • Family year: 2000-2014
  • Trim year: 2014
  • Must be Road Legal (turn signals, wipers, …)
  • No Race Parts
  • Minimum emission standards: WES 10
  • Fuel: unleaded and maximum 98RON
  • Submissions can be denied if they go against the spirit of the challenge (don’t make anything over 1000 kg or rediculious ideas that would never see the light of day)

Scoring System (Max = 74)

Scoring will be done like previous challenges hosted by me (TSPC, ESC, MCM)

Points distribution

  • Weight (10)
  • Power to Weight Ratio (10)
  • Sportiness (10)
  • Driveability (7)
  • Cornering G’s (7)
  • Looks (7)
  • Prestige (7)
  • Safety (4)
  • Comfort (4)
  • Reliability (4)
  • Fuel Economy (2)
  • Engineering Time (2)

Submissions

Sent a .car file to me in DM and post a picture in this forum (ad not needed but would be nice)

Have fun designing!

I think the model year range should be the same as the family year range.

It’s not a second hand car Sander is buying, he is buying new in 2014, hence trim year is 2014.

how do i set the techpool limit?

can we get some inspirations please

In the bottom right of a tab (let’s say tyres), you will see a button with +5, click on it and you can change the techpool spendings.

Not a fan of those, but de Donkervoort D8 inspired the creation of the challenge

oh ok, thanks

cool, but i meant like in the rules, similar to other challenges

No price range? We can build a hypercar and comply with the rules, i dont think Sander is looking for a Zonda

Whoops forgot to add the max price, it is set at $90.000

I know, just not a fan of them

As he is buying a car near to a BRZ or Miata, dont the car need to meet any emision standards?, dont he need regular fuel? safety?

so does it have to be openwheeled like a caterham or donkervoort or more Miata/GT86 style

Whilst somewhat open wheeled would be appreciated, you won’t get penalised if you don’t use it, since it is a lot of custom work to do. So no you don’t have to make it open wheeled

Actually thanks for reminding me of this, I fully looked over it. Fuel and emissions I will limit, but safety I am a bit hesitant on, given it’s one of the points criteria.
