So I was thinking about what I wanted to build first once the car designer is out, and I came up with this. These engines in a low/mid-2000 pound car, front engined RWD with styling similar to an NA or NB Miata, except as a coupe or fastback instead of a convertible.
N/A 2.6 V8 and TT version for ultimate performance high-end models
Obviously to be cost-effective I’d have to put the engines in other vehicles as well, I was thinking I could stick the 1.5 in some basic compact/midsize sedans or hatches and the 2.6 could go in a light pick-up truck or small SUV, or maybe even a minivan. (Minivan with a V8? How cool would that be?)
Anyways, what do you guys think? Would you buy such a car? Have you given any thought to what cars you want to build?
Really? It doesn’t seem like that would be a terribly difficult thing to implement, considering there’s no actual driving of the car. I guess I can just use my imagination.
It’s the art assets. Basically, it means remaking every chassis bit to FR layout. Let’s calculate:
Chassis is divided into 3 meshes: middle mesh, front mesh (which contains front suspension) and rear mesh (which contains rear suspension)
so, let’s add 1 (for middle mesh), … how many front suspension types would be there… let’s add 6 for each front suspension type (just a guess this time), 8 for rear suspension types (again, a guess) and we have 15
let’s multiply that 15 by the number of chassis types… steel ladder frame, steel monocoque, steel spaceframe, and carbon fibre monocoque are there for sure, and there will be more, I guess, that would make it 4 at least.
So, you’ve got 15x4=60 models at least to model for FR. Of course, the toughest animation work will be done before, but still, it’s lot of work.
Also, body models have different proportions for FR, which makes it necessary to create some new models, or (at least) change some current ones.
The first car I’m going to create is (not to sound boring) a little sporty 2013 1.0 litre turbo supermini. The engine i made produces 120 BHP @ 5800RPM while being 86 emissions at the same time!
i was thinking of recreating my moms crappy minivan because i think they already have all the suspension requirements and their current test body seems like it could be stretched to be like a minivan. Plus i need a V6. Then i was thinking a cheap kinda sporty RWD 4 cyl twin cam.
