Nomad looks like modernized Honker IMO.
1995 Osprey Mk3
The start of the 90’s marked a great expansion for the Flug company, with all of the lineup needing major updating. While the hummingbird was finalized and getting ready for the reveal, the Osprey was presented to the public. Sporting the new 4 valve per cylinder twincam v6 of 2.5 liters and front wheel drive mated to the wheels through a manual or an automatic transmission.
The base model of the Osprey
The base model was only available with the 3 liter D6 diesel engine, a modified and updated version of the military V6 found in the Nomad, and had a manual transmission option only. The car featured a standard interior for 5, and a cassette player. Great attention was paid to the safety features, as it got advanced technology for the time, as well as traction control to help the ABS.
The top of the line version, easily differed by the 17" alloy wheels
The mid-range version differed via a use of a new 2.5 liter DOHC v6 petrol engine, mated to a manual or an automatic gearbox at the buyers’ choice. The interior featured optional leather, and better in car entertainment, as well as more optional extras available to tick in the order form, and alloy wheels came as standard. The engine produced just under 190hp, and still only fed the front wheels.
Osprey would not have the phoenix version, but the Supreme trim could be ordered in all the phoenix colours.
The range topper model, called the “2.5 Supreme” featured everything the premium model had as standard, and topped it off with luxury level interior and upholstery, and a hi-fi CD player.
The Osprey model grew, compared to it’s predecessor, and a new mid-range car was now required for Flug, but that was already on the way, and getting ready to present itself.
1993 Nomad
The civilian version of the Nomad did not change much in terms of mechanical content from the military version. The bash bars and the armor were gone, replaced by regular materials and more city-friendly outlook. Along with the changes Flug saw to changing the headlights to ones that would work well without the added benefit of the light bar which came optional with the military version. The engine was left mostly unchanged, with new exhaust mufflers introduced to the 3 liter turbodiesel, and the interior saw the introduction of a stereo and comfortable seats. The Nomad became popular due to it’s ruggedness and offroad ability, and is still used by offroad enthusiasts all over the world to this day.
The Nomad in the civilian version lost most of it’s military grade trim

2000 Hummingbird Mk3
The expansion going well, and sales being good, Flug has introduced the third iteration of the Hummingbird. A small chassis available as a sedan, 3 door and 5 door hatchback was to bring more affordable motoring to the masses. The front wheel drive compact was powered by a 1.6 liter engine, feeding front wheels through a 5 speed manual transmission.
The bio design popular in the late 90’s and early 2000’s had great influence on the new looks for the car, with some finding it interesting and modern, and others inventing a slogan “sadness redefined” for the car. For better or worse, the Mk3 Hummingbird is a strong contender in a tight battle against a Multipla and Aztek for the title of the world’s ugliest car.
The car itself came with a basic interior, and a basic cassette player, cheap enough materials, and a low pricetag, which was the main idea of the whole concept. Team Phoenix, however had it’s way with the car, offering a special, sporty trim, which differed quite drasitcally on the inside. The engine had more power, wheels, tires, brakes and suspension were reworked, along with a few minor design changes to the bumpers to have the Phoenix stand out.

That’s about the most sad headlights I’ve ever seen, only thing missing is teardrop shaped turn signals under them.
I am not gonna lie, I had that idea… but then I thought “this is too “Thug life””
Hummingbird WRC
Not much is known of Hummingbird WRC, apart that it was not very successful in the world rally championship. Lack of a decent racing team, media coverage and sponsorships has halted the Flug rally adventure in just 1 year. The triumphant return to the long gone days of Group A rallying had to be put on hold. This did however leave the factory with a 2 liter turbocharged 300hp awd racing car, a bruised ego and a desire to come back to motorsport and dominate.
Osprey Mk4
With the times advancing rapidly, and many companies making huge leaps in their car design and engineering Flug was afraid to be left behind, and took to replacing the Osprey mk3 with a new model. The chassis would be available in 3 trims, the basic, the premium and the phoenix. Both basic and premium had options to chose from, both manual and automatic transmissions were available, and plenty of extras were available when placing your order.
Base trim Osprey mk4
Even in it’s base trim the car sported a premium quality interior and a premium CD with a CD changer, heated seats and full electrical package, with premium adding 4 zone climate control, sat nav, ventilated seats, hi end sound system and many less noticeable extras. Premium, however came with a different bodykit as standard as well as alloy wheels, which was available to the base model at extra pay.
Premium trim Osprey mk4
The engine choice was not a very varied one, you could either have a bigger version of the e40, now 2 liters, or the 3.5 liter turbodiesel, both powering the rear wheels. While the petrol powered engine was considered entry level, the diesel was offered as a range topper version for the regular osprey
Only the premium trim had chrome strips on the front bumper
Seeing the competition stepping up their game with the super sedan class, however, the v6 turbodiesel was not the big bad powerplant that would take the leadership in this race, and seeing BMW and Audi going the same route, a new engine was designed specifically for the Phoenix trim.
The Phoenix differed by wider arches, bigger wheels, wider tires, different bodywork to allow for better cooling and more downforce, on the inside it had a luxury leather interior, and a Paddleshifted automatic gearbox, still transmitting the power from the new 4.9 liter v10 to the rear wheels. Managing a 0-100 sprint in 4.9 seconds and topping out at 260 kph (310 if you remove the electronic limiter) The Osprey Phoenix was featured in Top Gear in 2006, where it posted a 1.22.4 second laptime, cementing itself in the super saloon class.

By the way, do you have a car-file for a mk2 Hummingbird, 1997 model? I would be happy to borrow one for a review…if possible.
Sadly no. The files got wiped in one of the updates.
Small update, addressing the… weird looks of the car and as it’s been noted - the weird engine selection
2008 Osprey mk4 facelift
Seeing the huge gap in between the engines, Flug knew they’d have to fill it eventually. A new engine was developed for this purpose. The new engine lineup was introduced in 2008 along with a facelift
The engine in question was a new 3 liter petrol v6 with twin turbochargers producing 278hp. The new dynamics of the car put the v6 petrol right in the middle between the diesel and the v10, filling the so obvious gap
New bumpers, aerodynamic elements, and lights were introduced to freshen the looks up, with the interior getting a minor update. A new “Carbon” trim was introduced with carbon fiber inserts on the interior and on the outside of the car
