Game Crashing/freezing

Hey guys,
I’ve got the demo version. I’m having a problem; when I try to select which type of head to use, the game freezes up and an error pops up saying “Step() failed!: [string “…”]:179: attempt to index field ‘FireOrder’ (a nil value)”

I’ve tried looking through some of the files to see if I could find ‘FireOrder’ and I have had no luck.

Any suggestions?

Hi,

I’m getting a similar(or same) error, when selecting the type of head I hear a windows error message and then the game freezes, I can not click anywhere.
When tabbing out I see this error message "Step() failed! [string “…”]:16: attempt to index field ‘FireOrder’ (a nil value).
I’ve tried different engines, v8, inline 6 ect though the problem allways appears when I try tp select what type of head to use.
I’ve tried to start the game as an Administrator and in compability mode.

I Installed/updated the game through your launcher.(fresh install)

Update: I uninstalled the game, installed the launcher, updated the launcher and then installed the update with an installer from this link s3.amazonaws.com/automationbeta/open/Automation_Install_B199.exe. IT WORKS NOW!

Unfortunately, it didn’t work for me. Now I’m getting the same response you did and it’s still freezing up.

Did you try deleting the Automation folder in My Documents?

I’m glad that it’s working for you. Sadly, it’s not helping me out much.

I too get the same message and the game freezes when i choose the intake.

Yes i’m getting the step error when i try and chose the intake. and game freezes.
I have just tried to rinstall everything but the error still occurs.

Ok, this is caused by a file getting left behind (and a reinstall leaving the file there). What you need to do is, download and run the cleaner app from here: ( viewtopic.php?f=16&t=1271 ), press the Clean button (it doesn’t give any feedback to actually doing anything though, but it does).

You can then reinstall automation, (Hopefully the installer should be in My Documents\automation\installers called Automation_Installer_B199 )

:frowning: My game also freezes upon selecting fuel injection, but i don’t get an error message. It just freezes :neutral_face: Dang it

Yes, we are aware of this problem - we’ll fix it as soon as possible! (in the next few days via a patch)

I have exactly the same problem, when i try to chose the injection type for my engine it freezes
I play the demo version

Had the same problem with the game freezing either on sandbox or missions but always on the fuel system selection.
Just uninstall the game (remember to also delete the folder in my documents).Downloaded the files from viewtopic.php?f=16&t=1271 Have a fresh install and everything worked fine!(also demo player)
