Give me film recommendations!

So from tomorrow I’m off on holiday where I will most likely have spotty internet that is barely good enough to load a Google image search. In the case that I get bored, I’d like to have a few films ready - not fictional ones, I mean history films, science documentaries or TV shows that can be downloaded. (Motorsport and car company history films are even better!) Maybe 5 or so?

Give me your best

Aw. Documentaries? I was just gonna recomend ghibli studio shits…

What about animes? Instead of 2 hours of movies you get at least 4 per season

Oh
#gaki no tsukai

For me, that’s literally 6 hours of almost non+stop laughs…

Disregard this post if you’re not interested

Senna was a great documentary, but as you would expect parts are quite dark…

The sound work in that film is masterful.

White Rabbit Project. Kari, Grant and Tory from Mythbusters investigating all kinds of interesting technology and weird stuff that people have done.

Well, being the obedient person I am, I proceeded to watch exactly none of the movies you suggested! (I will do one day tho) However I did watch these, they’re all documentaries or TV shows:

  • Havana Motor Club - talks about the passion and rebirth of racing in Cuba. Not exactly very interesting, watch if you’re sorely bored. Not 100% recommended.
  • A Faster Horse - highly recommended watch, great documentary about the history and design of the from the perspective of the executives in Ford in the development of the current 6th gen. Powerful stuff.
  • ep5 and 6 of Top Gear. I totally get the Evans hate. The rest of the hosts are fine, yeah.
  • Idris Elba: No Limits - Drag Racing, Land Speed Record and some Irish rallying one. Do not watch. Idris is an actor, not a racer and is a really arrogant asshole. It’s scripted as fuck and is really boring. To see him act like a cunt when being tutored by legends like fucking Ari Vatanen and Jimmy McRae (Colin McRae’s dad, also a rally champ)
  • The Streamliner Case - insider footage with voiceovers of Mercedes rebuilding a one-off unknown car that they had built back in the 1930’s off of archive blueprints and witness accounts. Fascinating stuff, gorgeous car. Watch it, it’s only 45 mins long. (In fact Merc themselves have uploaded it to YT! Watch here)

Good, but not that good in my opinion. Try Apex instead, it’s about koenisseg, it can actually give you ideas for the lore of your company.

And obviously, Rush and the Senna documentary. Both are great, full with emotion and (specially senna) some dark moments.

Ay yes, I need to watch Apex and Senna ASAP!

Duel, man. thats a goood ass film

I’ve gone on a bit of a roll watching old and rally related documentaries.

I’ve a ton more to go but I’m loving all of this :grinning:

Nobody thought to mention Le Mans, a movie which most resembles sitting down to watch an actual race?

Just looking at this thread, WHERE THE FUCK IS THE BLUES BROTHERS?

On a mission from god?
