I build race engines, looks like you go to school and drive a Cavaqueer. Have fun with your slow ass GM with an improperly balanced Inline 4.
Look, I’m sure your race engine is fine. But you’re arguing kinematics with someone who was taught by the man who wrote the book on kinematics that most of the world uses. But lets try to not derail this thread further. LSx, best engine of all time.
There’s no best engine ever made, There hasn’t been any perfect engine and It’ll get better with time too actually. But there is on the other hand … The worst engine ever made. Period.
Worst engine? Trabant 2 cylinder 2-stroke perhaps?
hi
for me the best engine is the 2,0 L 16V from opel (Code C20XE) It used in Calibra, Vectra 2000, Astra GSI …
I owend one for a Year. I used it as daily Driver and he used 6,4 L/100km. and when you need a little of fun you can smoke a corrado VR6 or a 525 Beemer… A very good egine…
So i have only a german Homepage found about this engine… But its very intresting.

Thats what we are talking about mate! C20XE is simply the best 90’s engine ever made, and still one of the best engines ever. Great for tuning, with great performance possibilities but in the same time its amazing in stock variant too. It was unbeaten until Honda S2000 launched, imo. Then the 2.0 16V class had a new king. The C20XE is good because it was not originally idea of Opel but its from Cosworth and Lotus, which by this time made just beastly engines. C20XE and C20LET - KICKASS! I owned other cars from different brands but still I find this as the best engine for this class (2000cc). I am big fan of the American cars and engines between '60s and '80s but I never touched such engine myself so I can’t tell if some of them is the best V8 ever made. But I guess from the nowadays engines the Chevy 572 is a solid contender for the spot best V8 engine
B**** please. 594cc I2 2-stroke.
I do not mean the 594 cc engine mounted in the original 126. I mean the 650cc mounted in the polish-licenced Fiat since 1977. Or 1978. Not sure at the moment.
My vote goes to the Ford Modular V8, followed by the Ford/Yamaha SHO V6.
As a personal greatest engine ever made (as everybody has his or her own oppinion) i think of 3 engines.
The B series honda engines, great gas milage (thanks to vtec), great power, great sound.
Also alot of them are used in a wide range of models and its a very easy tunable engine (thanks to a wide range of aftermarket parts available for them)
Reaching 300hp figures with ease in a 1.6 or 1.8 engine and could even go as far as a 1000hp (although most engines could get there with enough money )
The D series honda engines, same as B series engine (although offcource a bit less power because of its smaller bore and smaller valve sizes)
And its a Sohc with 16 valve engine instead of a typical Sohc 8 valve which is a nice feature.
RB26DETT … don’t want to elaborate about why, everybody knows alot of these engines already. Don’t want a skyline anymore but i still appreciate the almighte godzilla and its engine.
One of the greatest engines is my opinion is the Honda B18C6 engine in the Honda Integra Type R.
With only 1.8l displacement it pushes out 190hp (naturally aspirated) at 7900rpm. With the light Integra it’s a very impressive package.
Not only that’s a very powerful engine, it’s also very reliable. I sold it with 245000km and it’s still running fine…
Greetz,
Zeph
Its a great motor but for a long time it wasn’t to powerful. The NPI 2v versions were reliable but dogs. Now that Ford has a Coyote and Trinity sub varants they are pretty damn good.
Agreed! I like the 5.0 too by the way.
Honda B16/18 engines. 300+hp with a standard B16a2 and turbo kit 360000km later and it stil runs like day one
cant kill honda engines
Sweet. I assume you mean the pushrod “Windsor” 5.0?
Correct. My dad had a '94 Mustang GT.
Sweet you gotta love the “Black sheep” Pushrod SN-95 Mustangs. I have a '95 Cobra.
In my opinion the best engine ever made was either the Toyota 1MZ-FE for its silky smoothness despite it being a V6 (it also sounds amazing), or Samuel Brown’s Gas Vacuum Engine, for without it the internal combustion engine may not have been invented in the first place. I would post pictures but I don’t know how to.
A Camry motor? not very exciting lol.
I never said it was exciting. Check the sidebar and you will see that I have firsthand experience with the engine. Plus the engine often is swapped into MR2s and the occasional Elise, and those are pretty exciting cars. Also, an engine is an engine regardless of what car it is put in. The 2JZ may have developed a similar reputation if it was used in the Camry.
