Guess The Rules!

Apologies for the delay, work and PC gremlins today. Kubboz passed just 3 rules - 8, 10 and 11, same as mart1n. I do want to note that it’s borderline on one of these.

Both guesses are incorrect. It’s possible for a meme to get through, and rule 8 has nothing to do with terminal oversteer.

Isn’t the one with the “spin’t” hint rule 8? You added my guess to rule 7.

My bad, noted it down in the wrong spot. Corrected it.

Another offering to determine the rules

Also, guess for Rule 8: must have no chance of a rollover

GUESS: Rule 8 is a ban on ethanol fuels

GUESS: Rule 10 is “no driving aids”.

As for today’s submission…

…you’re getting the same as yesterday with a few changes.

One of the metrics for the Santini S1100 Cup was calculated incorrectly. For Rule 14, the correct metric is 10, not 16. My bad.

Quick question! The metrics for rule 1 feature both frowning face emojis and slightly frowning face emojis. Is that a meaningful distinction, or are they allographs for the purpose of this rule?

(If they are, there is a discrepancy between post 7 and the spreadsheet - Edsel’s entry has a slightly frowning face emoji in the post, but non-slightly frowning face in the spreadsheet; which is correct?)

There is a meaningful distinction, and the forum formatting ate it. The spreadsheet is the correct one.

The codepoint pasted into the box was U+1F641 “slightly frowning face” for mart1n and moroza, but U+2639 “frowning face” for Edsel. Hovering over them reveals a different name, looking at the code for the page shows that they link to different images on the server, they just look identical. https://discourse.automationgame.com/images/emoji/twitter/slightly_frowning_face.png?v=12 for slight frown versus https://discourse.automationgame.com/images/emoji/twitter/frowning.png?v=12

This is the wildest, most unexpected forum bug.

Edit: This is not a forum bug. This is a Twemoji bug. Twitter’s emoji set uses the same image for the two codepoints. The forum just inherits that bad decision. Because Twitter uses the native device design on mobile, this means that the bug applies to desktop Twitter but not mobile Twitter.

Wild.

Today’s entries have been added to the spreadsheet.

Edsel’s tank is the first entry to pass Rule 1, while the Triposto is the first to pass Rule 2 and 13. It also passes rules 1, 8, 10 and 11. Metrics are on the sheet.

As for the guesses, rule 8 does not ban ethanol or rollovers.

We have our first correct guess though! The exact text for rule 10 is as follows:

All driving aids are forbidden! If you go into a tree, that’s on you!

Congratulations to @Kubboz for guessing it!

Bonus points if you can decipher the hint’s relevance.

I’ll post a .car for today later, however…

GUESS: Rule 1 is “must have three seats.”

(note that only the three-seaters passed this one, and the ones that fail get the frownier face the further they are from 3)

Other guesses that I want to post later. Feel free to take them if you have none of your own, collaborative spirit and all that.
  • Rule 8, I think, is “RPM limit must be below 7000 RPM.”
  • Rule 13 might mandate an indecent licence plate? It’s certainly something the DMV would not like, and, I did change the plate on my car to the one that says “FAP” and it passed

As for the hint’s relevance; not only did I decipher it, googling the line directly led me to the right path. “Everyone has AIDS? Well, I don’t, hehe, wait is that it”

Rule 3, line 4, hint: Every day’s just a holiday, cruisin’ on the freeway, feelin’ kinda breezy

I believe that the rule is that it must be a convertible

Both guesses are correct, as is the relevance of the hint. Hooray! Even got the metric right.

Rule 1:

The car must have 3 seats. Three shall be thy number of counting!

Rule 3:

It has to be a convertible. Soft top or hard top, either way works.

GUESS: Rule 13 is “must have an indecent license plate.”

Apologies for the inconsistent timing, going early rather than late today.

That guess is correct. The canonical text is:

The license plate must reference a sexual act. FAP365 is the easy route.

Rule 2 within regards for rule 1, may it be that the seats must be full sized

Apologies for the delay, this guess is incorrect.

New car. Not a meme for once, follows all known rules.

Inlcuding my next guess:

Rule 11: Car must follow some sort of naming convention.

Rule 11 does not enforce a naming convention. If it did, this guess would be a little too non-specific for my liking.

You pass 6 rules - the known ones, plus 8 and 11.
