Honda Civic Challenge [Race Results In! Vote are in!}

Or maybe it was front left side tyre pressure… My memory of it is hazy at best…

My car actually was suppose to be something based on a spider, but whatever you want to see, lol. If you look form the front you can see the body, the 8 legs, and the two large pincers in the front. Plus the 8 headlights.

Right. Oh my god. Time spent tuning car: 20 minutes. Time spent ricing car: something like 3 hours. Here’s a teaser, while I sit on it and just admire my handiwork.

Vic once told me I must have extreme patience to model the Nightfury’s rear taillight array. That was an array of merely 14 LED lights. Try 62 of the fuckers.

EDIT: Okay, submitted! Here are some more pictures. Never before now have I been compelled to show a car in chrome, but TONIGHT IS THE NIGHT! This car will definitely draw attention away from those stuck up rich kid mobiles, not to mention smoke them on the track :smiling_imp:

p.s. wheelspin penalty of 15%, oh dear.

I thought the best looking honda title was awarded to sleek, clean and tasteful cars, back to the drawing board! (better get multiple pop-ups and moar booscht)

Common sense would dictate that a clean car looks good, however this is high school and as a 16 year old boy/girl you have a very different opinion of what looks tasteful on a 1992 civic :-p

But don’t tell me you alligned all those LED’s “manually” and kept fiddling with the placement until they were perfectly in line. There’s a much, MUCH easier way to do it.

Oh yeah what’s that? If you mean using an extra grille/vent etc as a kind of ruler? That helps. But exact alignment is still fiddly!

You .lua editing bastard!

yes, that’s what i meant.

That’s not a bad idea either… I’ve never been compelled to use that approach as yet!

Oh, you have no idea how helpful the .lua files are when you’ve forgot to flare your arches, and you don’t feel like restyling the whole thing.

Yeah haha that part I do all the time (even to reduce flare once I’ve found a tyre width I like! however when I put like 27466284 fixtures on a car it just seemed like a pain in the ass scrolling through those parts to align them, though now with the modding, I’m much more familiar with part naming so it’d probably be easier now…

how does one flair the wheel arches by editing the .lua?

In the model .lua file (at least this build, the platform and model info are together in the same file), look for the tables that correspond to the morph area. There are labels like “frontflare” or “bonnetrear” etc. Usually they’re located around table 30-40 or so. They will link to another table… These will have x, y, z values which denote the Max and Min limits of the morph, as determined by the “bones.lua” file in the c:\automation\assets\meshes\cars… Etc folder (I think). Don’t exceed these limits!

The table you’re after, however, is actually the set further down that denote the actual morph values! You can find these by searching for the appropriate morph point and finding the second result that comes up… Usually the table you’re after is around 200-220, and its in those tables you can switch up the values. So long as the morph isn’t broken, the fixtures will generally move around with minimal fuss.

i thought it said to NOT modify the body panels, that includes flaring the arches

I’m a monster… my Civic got 142 LED lights… :open_mouth:

I was inquiring for a different project.

In regard tot his tournament, flared wheel arches are not legal.

I am hosting a new years celebration tonight, so correspondence might be a little slow if not completely nil for the next day or so. Feel free to pm or post questions here and I will get back to you as soon as I can.

I can confirm that I have submitted the entry sans flared arches. Given that there is also a cosmetic component to go along with this tournament, I agree it would be unfair to bend that rule.

On the plus side, removing the flared arches allows for slightly better coherence with the improper use of vents to make a faux-wide bodykit. Now, the vent doesn’t bend with the flare, forcing me to cut it off early.

I’m very curious to see what Enry’s entry looks like, what with its 142 LEDs :open_mouth: My rear tail light array was after all only a total of 124!

Strop, that car looks insane! :open_mouth: I hope that all that bling makes it too slow so I can maybe win for once! :stuck_out_tongue:
