It is I! @AKA_NOBUDDY back with another challenge!
Welcome to Brake line! I’m your host, Brandon and we are taking a time machine to the 80s
The year is 1988, oil crisis has made cars slow and boring, but then a shine of new light inform of hot hatches came to be! With it many company (AKA You guys), offered their own “hot hatch”. Various models were released from 1980 to 1989, but today we’re going to find the objectively best Hot Hatch of these era.
But what qualifies as the best of these “Hot Hatch” cars? (Priority)
Drivability: Reason to love these small cars, they handle like a dream! Performance: Focus points are acceleration, Cornering G, 100-0 breaking test, etc… Gas consumption: Gas is not cheap, if you had money for the gas, you’d buy a Fruinian sports car, not a hot hatch. Sportiness: The raw stat by automation values
Service cost: Same idea as gas consumption but less important. Price: Cheaper the better I say, but sometimes, that extra bit of money is worth it. Practicality: A main reason you’d buy a hot hatch and not a sports car is the practicality it has over the other.
Looks: These are economy cars at heart, but it’s a plus if they look good Ads: Low prio but i like to see some story/ad for the cars. Marketing is part of the success for great cars after all. Interior: Not required but appreciated.

It’s meant more of a design inspiration than an actual hot hatch…meant to say it’s ok to make it look like that. Not meant as “This is considered as a hot hatch irl”
It’s the 80s era hatch yes. You can make it an early 80s hatch but it’s your decision as it may limit your tech or not. If you value story/lore more go for it!
It’s a pretty common way to take the piss out of people that worship the AE86 like the second coming of Jesus thanks to Initial D, when in reality it’s a somewhat slow old shitbox that still had RWD so was a bit more fun to drive, and just so happens to look incredible too.
I would like to suggest that the cars must have at least a 2+2 seating layout since the whole reason the hot hatch caught on was because it was more practical and versatile than the 2-seater roadster. Although, I don’t know how many game considered “hatch” bodies have the option for a full 2 rows of seats.
I also would like to suggest practicality becomes a judgable stat for the same reason as the above.
Also, since the tires are all coming from the same supplier, wouldn’t it make sense to lock the tire techpool to +5 to make sure the tires are equal across all entrants?
I would suggest a realistic maximum wheelbase. There are some pretty big hatchback bodies out there, and we don’t want to get into sports saloon territory.
