Hot Lap Challenge HLC round 7: wnb V8 SUPERCARS 15.11.2016, 12.00 (noon) CET

I have no internet just phone so i will be missing this round

and I’m skipping too

Excite the hype!

I knocked over 45 seconds off my Barely Street Legal League car’s time on the downhill, with about half of it’s horsepower, it tops out just shy of 200mph and should be able to perform well on the other two tracks. Let’s do this!

I’m thinking about a rule…If you submit in last 24h, no revisions for you…

That’s something to think about… It can make the game faster.

Halloween themed not MR2 battle begins!!!

or should I say let the terminal oversteer take over…

@Nomade0013 Gamma CM2

Let’s cut straight to the point. This is very underwhelming entry. Yes, it’s got nice flat torque curve, a LOT of braking performance and subtle looks…but this is a race goddamit! 351hp aint gonna cut it and bad power to weight ratio proves my point. Massive oversteer does not help either.

@one85db OMG C5H RWD

Could you possibly fit bigger rims?!? Well here it is folks, the racing donk. Joke aside, car is stonking to look at and it does not lack performance. Amazingly still well inside economy limit, 2.8 turbooo l4 is producing whopping 521hp. You know what they say… whit great power comes great…wheel size?
“”""""""""""""""""""""""""

@Dracoautomations DAC Cossax Apex

He heeey we’ve got our selfs a newbie. But don’t be fooled by that! Or carbon fiber steelis… or unassuming looks…or unattractive ass. Cossax packs some serious punch with almost 470hp from one of the most ecofriendly 4banger out there. Shame for only 165 front tire tho…

@lordvader1 Racer mk2

Vader himself would not be proud of that creation. White, nice looking and being extremely drivable. Very few cars did without oversteer and this is one of them. However, despite some creative tricks (like carbon rear brakes for better balance and only awd car here), 380hp is just not enough to play with the big boys.

@Nialloftara Centauri Omega GTZ custom

Well well well…more than 500ho from 4l V6…that lack any snails…Ou yeah. Reliability: 3 ; RPM limit: 10k. That is basically all you need to know to get a feeling of how purposefully was this car build. Looks match the internals with racy stance and double wing.
“”""""""""""""""""""""""""

@HighOctaneLove Bogliq Fox 300R

If there would be miss HLC competition, I would crown the Fox. Shame the crown would shatter on the way back home because who needs springs when you have steel beams. Ignoring that, Boqliq once again provides a very pleasant, reliable entry… but unfortunately this is time attack.

@JohnWaldock JHW M2R

Is this thing supposed to tow a semi-truck? Because I do not know why else are those huuuge 325 ceramic plates there. Second weird decision is engine. While its fine producing 417 from 3.5l, only raising the rev limiter results in extra 27hp. Drunk engineers I tell you.
“”""""""""""""""""""""""""

@gridghost Scrab Aurora MR

blame this guy for holdup hehehe What’s with the purple this round? Maybe it adds 50 hp…and Aurora would need that. 358 and some fat means the lowest power to weight ratio. But don’t be too fast (see what I did there) in ruling this racer out because it has one of the nicest suspension tuning and believe me that counts.
“”""""""""""""""""""""""""

AirJordan Smooth Racing Pace Spear Max

This is by far (50kg) the lightest car here. 3.8 V6 engine is pushed to the limits as it has very long stroke but still revs to 10100rpm. No terminal oversteer.

Congrats!

Winner when ready, pm me new rules :slight_smile: Others, take notes how can you improve next round. More power, less weight? Probably. Less oversteer? Definitely.

Congrats to @nialloftara, great race!

I suppose the Champ’s pick is yet again mine, so I’ll be picking @gridghost for emulating my color scheme. :wink:

As I told you guys, I fought for the 5th place, sadly (for me) @JohnWaldock took it. It was a last time entrance, just to don’t miss it. But I really liked this type of challenge, it make things more equal for everybody.

Congrats @nialloftara for the winning, and @gridghost for making a so underpowered and heavy car take the 4th place!

Gratz to @nialloftara and thank you @one85db for the Champ’s pick… and nice car btw :wink:

But, yeah, i need to learn to get my rides lighter. And push for some more power…

Arrggg so close to the pace car! Well at least on the track I tuned for I took the overall win. Nice challenge all around, good racing everyone. I’ll try and get some rules put together in the next few hours to move this challenge right along.

Edit* I lied it wasn’t even the track I tuned for!

You scared me good :grin: when I saw yours and one85db’s car I was like fu*c I lack 50hp…It was close, too close :wink:

i always wonder what am i doing wrong to make slow cars :C

Your (and you are not alone) main problem is suspension set up. I suggest you take a look at killrobs (old) videos where he is building brc cars. He briefly explains what to do whit different engine setups.

tires are also a big issue. @lordvader1 for stuff like this, i would advise with the Race preset as a good start point

1 Like

Presets only really work on front engined cars with front biased balance…from my experience anywhere else, you are on your own.

removing AWD and giving the rear a -3° camber fixed it a bit

also having low profile tyres and equal tyre size front and rear 235mm

from
128,4
to
124.7

Now put 225 on the front and put almost equal values for rear/front springs and roll bars…

Hmmm, yeah, changing the engine to a high revving I4 and getting the car on a diet got me down to 2:05:80 :unamused: But you learn as you go :slight_smile:

Next challenge will be intresting
