aaa OK, sorry about that
not a problem I am actually working on my Rod now the 2.5M whhelbase is a damn good rule
This is what I want/ed to enter, but, It’s tough to make it all work out right… many compromises with the Crook Runner… I WANT TO RUN THE VAN THIS TIME…
Will keep going… (Need some extra reliablity.
that thing’s face look just so reluctant to run…
That awkward moment when you are happily bashing on quality sliders just to realise you forgot to set markup… agrh…

Smooth Whoa S
3.9L V8 240Hp
I think it’s time to post deadline (in a way it does not happen at the same time as drc) otherwise we could be waiting for ever.
K deadline posted. I will work it so that each comp has a 2 week deadline
that car is, like, woah.
Is that wheel base bigger than 2.5m?
GAMMA Nomad Custom (old ancestor of Nomad Sport), we introduce the sleeper: a normal car outside, a hot rod inside!
It uses a 3.0L Inline 6 generating 180hp

Welcome Hotrodders to the Hot lap Challenge. Now if you don’t know the rules it’s simple, each car gets one lap of each track, 2 from rolling starts and one from standing. I will record each cars times and add them before taking an average total, the car with the lowest total is the Winnerand crowned Champion.
Now there is to be no tyre slashing, fuel tampering, brake line cutting shenanigans here so tell your crew to behave. Before I go further the VPower DRS ACE did not send a revised entry in time so will be excluded from the races, rules are rules sorry.
Now ladies please stand back, I would personally love to have a hot chick dropping the flags but someone high up had to have their nephew do it or else we would not have access to Diablo Raceway.
All racers and competitors are to be present track side at all times during the competition, please no smoking in the fueling areas. But first A word from our Sponsors.
OK now that that’s out of the way we can start the races starting at Queensland raceway with the first pair of racers, Petoskey Model B custom VS Gamma Nomad Custom. Now remember we have a male flag dropper and for some reason he wants to drop the flag from the inside of the track and not behind any barriers as quote “Its far more manly that way!”.
So the flag drops and they are away with the Nomad pulling away and the Model B left smoking it’s tyres of the line, unfortunately it doesn’t get any better from here with the Nomad scampering away from the V8 custom. The Nomad finishes almost 10 seconds in front. However the flag dropper is no longer concentrating on the Model B and as the big utility exits the last corner the rear end becomes unstable stepping out throwing the Model B into a wild fishtail and essentially T-Boning the flag dropper in a flash of pink mist…Oh well at least we can have hot chicks dropping the flag now.
Next to race was The Crook Runner VS The Deluxe Sport two hand-built hotrods that could not be more different to each other if ones was from Mars and one was from Venus. Yet still we are waiting for the flag to drop for these two at Diablo Raceway…and they are away.
The two car took off together but after the first gear change it was obvious that the Crook Runner was severely out gunned and the little van quickly disappeared from the Deluxe Sports rear view mirrors. in the end we had to wait a long 23 seconds before seeing the Van cross the line.
The final pair to race was The Bogliq Bastion Sport VS JHW Coronada at Laguna Seca.
Both cars are quite interesting takes on hotrodding and it should be a good matchup.
And the flag drops!
To completely different styles one Euro and one Yanky but these two were close all the way the Bogliq would scamper through the turns just to be reeled in by the V8 Coronada, there was a minor incident at the corkscrew where the Coronada rear ended the little Bogliq causing a spectacular 360* spin and sending the Euro Trash skywards to land in front of the Coronada but facing the wrong way. What a race!
Now with all the heads up races going on unfortunately due to a car not meeting requirements our own entry from DSD did not have a partner to race. Not that it would have mattered Hotrods are what we do at and the fact is in this instance we actually made a competitive vehicle. But whats this… Smooth motors is here to defend the title. Who will win who will bomb out?
Stay tuned the car results and reviews are coming soon.
Please note that all times will be displayed in the following order, QLD Raceway, Diablo Raceway, Laguna Seca
The Cars
Petrosky Model B Custom
A very cool stripped back looking rod, no nonsense to the point but with enough chrome to still standout and shine in the sun. This customized Model B features a 360ci V8 with triple Stromberg Carburetors and a chrome air scoop protruding trough the bonnet, the engine produces 253Hp and slowly rumbles to a redline of 4500Rpm. The inside is quite high end with tweed covered bucket seats and a pretty cool custom AM radio and even has a rollcage with padding.
Total Cost: $15000
117.76, 148.36, 142.16
Gamma Nomad Custom
Another stripped back rod this time a utility which means a light rear end.
The owner of this car has had the audacity to run zoomy headers straight out the front fenders and the noise that is expelled is so cool, it rasps and rattles and then we realized that’s the familiar rasp of a high performance inline 6! She’s a beauty too with 186Ci and exotic 4 valve per cylinder DOHC cylinder heads, these along with double deuce 2bbl carburetors and hand formed equal length zoomies help the high tech 6 produce 180Hp and a 5200RPM redline.
Inside as quite plain and remains the basic farm spec that this utility was originally designed for, however a AM radio in stereo has been retrofitted.
Total Cost: $15000
108.57, 157.75, 129.45
Crook Runner
We must admit the ladies behind the Crook Runner have balls! Not only did they manage to nick a police paddy van, they have squeezed a completely custom made 110Ci V8 under the tiny bonnet! It’s an interesting little item too using DAOHC cylinder heads, a unique 180* set of exhaust headers and triple deuce 2bbl carburetors to produce 114Hp and an astonishing 5900RPM redline and it sounds just right with a nice lumpy idle but an exhaust note similar to the high end Euro options. Inside is fairly standard but it does have 2 bucket style seats and another retrofitted AM radio.
Total Cost: $12840
123.75, 165.10, 149.95
Deluxe Sport
Such beautiful body lines, exquisite chrome work and that almost black deep blue paint this is the prettiest car of the rods. Under the hood is a large 235Ci OHV inline 6 using 2 new Holley twin barrel carburetors and 6-2-1 Mild steel exhaust headers. The engine is certainly unique and redlines at 4600RPM with a best power of 187Hp. While the car has been enhanced on the outside on the inside the rear seats have been removed and the factory bench seat has been replaced with a pair of tractor stools, AM stereo seems to be all the rage with these rods.
Total Cost: $15000
109.78, 141.77, 130.60
Smooth Whoa S
Well what have we here then aye? It’s definitely smooth…wait what is that at the back, arge its hideous what possible could be the benefit of that. wait wheres the engine there’s nothing under the hood…Ooooooooo tricky bugga Smooth have put it behind the rear axle that explains that monstrosity a little. Its a 240Ci flatplane V8 with DAOHC with triple Delorto carburetors and 4-1 headers producing a massive 240Hp and a final redline of 5500RPM’s.
Inside its exactly the same as the Deluxe sport, same seats, same radio etc.
Please note that I did have to remove +1 slider on your brakes for the entrant to come under cost I apologize for need seeing this sooner it has not effected final results
Total Cost:$15000
98.84, 135.71, 118.86
Bogliq Bastion Sport
My personal favorite of all the rods entered, the body style and lines just work beautifully. By far the best looking Bogliq so far in my opinion. Under those sweeping lines reside a high tech inline 4 cylinder engine displacing 244Ci !!! This along with 4 valve per cylinder DOHC cylinder heads propels the car forward at a rapid pace. The engine makes 161Hp with a redline of 4100RPM.
Inside you will find 2 person big padded leather bench seat with many gauges to look at and even more toggle switches to play with.
Total Cost: $15000
119.14, 154.40, 142.81
Darkshines Hotrod
My own personal hotrod that I have been working on for quite sometime. Do not let the chrome work or fancy scalloped headlight fool you this car is a street racer! Powered by a 246Ci V8 with rare 3 valve per cylinder SOHC cylinder heads and three brand new Holley 2bbl carburetors and hand made 4-1 heaers for a tremendous roar and 238hp revving to 5200RPM.
Inside I have tweed bucket seats and a high end removable luxury AM radio.
Total Cost: $15000
105.56, 140.25, 125.24
JHW Coronada
The big brute of the bunch, intimidating is an understatement. With the curve velocity stacks protruding from the bonnet we could tell the Coronada meant business. Those velocity stacks belong to a 377Ci OHV V8 with a tuned length high rise intake manifold and stainless steel exhaust. The noise is tremendous as is the power 254Hp and 3900 lazy RPM’s.
Inside we find two premium American made bucket seats a stereo AM radio and very nice fixtures and detail pieces.
Total Cost: $15000
115.15, 154.87, 137.63

Congratulations to the Smooth Whoa S
Case and point, the Model B should remain as a standard passenger car, not a racer.
I just wanted to make a wagon, so was expecting the last place.
Nice! Came in second last and fleshed out the lore surrounding my “4 Banger” 4L Inline 4’s racing heritage…
Congrats @AirJordan on the win and thanks @Darkshine5 for hosting the event!!!
