  • All wheels must have a wheel arch
  • It is strongly recommended to have an interior, but not mandatory
  • All mods are allowed
  • Submissions will be judged via photos of the cars posted here, these can include photos of the interior if you have one,
  • There will be a survey so the community can judge as well,

I’m assuming the model/trim/family/variant year is 2020 (the latest the game allows).

Not necessarily, as long as it looks like a hypercar and meets the required top speed, as well as everything else I’ve put there, it’s fine

The earliest decade for airbag availability is the 1980s - although you’ll need the advanced safety suite for those.

Also, I suspect the requirement for a full interior is to allow for Beam testing, cameras and all.

Didn’t know this was a safety option in Automation, I should’ve clarified that the airbag could be an added fixture, not necessarily functional in game.

As for the interior and beam testing situation, no I will not be loading these cars into Beamng for testing, let alone downloading the actual car and engine files, the interior is so the car looks good in photos.

What else have I missed?

Like everything bro, for starters, airbags are not an option in automation, only 3 kinds of safety according to decades.

What do you mean about road legal in that specific countries?, is there a set of dimensions, wheels or minimum height? I dont live in any of these countries so idk the normative

As interiors are good, not so many people like to do them, so it will be better to encourage making interiors than forcing it.

Also if the only restriction is that the car goes more than 380 km/h, prepare to have 3M Automation Dolar machines with 5000 hp engines that imo it looks more like a ground speed record rocketship than a hypercar.

November is so far away, for the short of the ruleset is, is better to end it next month

Dont get it the bad way but i suggest you get more involved in other challenges and see how do they work before hosting one

No offence taken

So the time factor was to give people time to make these cars, should take out the road legality part, was referring to actual hypercar when I put the minimum speed in

Not everyone has the ability or willingness to install an interior - such a feature should be optional instead of mandatory.

380? I wonder if I can do that with a 1.0…
It seems like this is a design challenge (as the judging will be purely visual) with a single specific technical requirement - why? Why bother with technical requirements, if you won’t even check them? Or the other way around, why judge only the pictures, if you’re requiring actual super/hypercars also in terms of tech?

And to abg7, should I change/take down the post?

Well, no need to take it down IMO, if you decide what kind of challenge - design, technical or both - you want to host, and adjust the rules to be more consistent with the idea. IMO either make it design only and ditch the technical requirements (you may want to specify though what “road legality” means, this can strongly affect the looks), or make tech matter too by setting some technical goals too and taking submissions in th form of exported .car files, which you’ll examine in your game. The first option is certainly easier.

I’m only so against taking .car files cause I’m running out of hard drive space fast

If you’re not going to take .car files, and there’s no other mechanism I see for submitting any car stats, I’d echo the suggestion that you make this a design only challenge where people design and take pictures of a hypercar–so there would actually be a bit of a photography element to the challenge as well. Some people don’t like to do interiors, and it’s rare that they’re required, but I see no reason why you can’t require interiors or set a rule that cars have to be photographed with translucent glass and that the appearance of the interior from the outside will be taken into account when judging. I’m not really sure how you would judge anything about airbags, speed, or technical in-game seat number without getting the .car files.

Also, I have found that Automation (and other Steam games) works fine with all the files saved on a thumb drive; that’s what I do because my hard drive is small. Just a tip if you have some spare cash to throw at your storage space crunch without having to replace your hard drive or get a whole new system.

Well, that’s understandable, but keep in mind that those files are very small, usually a fraction of a megabyte.
